Watching my daughter at 5 years old dig garden worms to hand feed her rooster, who fed his hens, was amazing. At 6 I let the chickens into the garden and we had so much fun that year harvesting. She would collect eggs and get peas and lettuce and radishes. We had salads daily. We gave a lot of our harvest to our family. Buckets of snap peas. I canned pickles that year too. She could barely wait till they were ready. I had so much squash I pickled them too, and she possibly ate 95% of what I pickled by herself. The kids roasted sunflower seeds, and they never even made it to a package. They literally would go out to the horse shed and pull down flower heads to roast and then eat them all. I had braided onions out there all winter too. Think I filled half the lean in freezer in beans, squash and peas.

This guy reminds me of a dude on Okinawa I met while with the marines. He was from NY. East Coast dudes are the coolest. Thanks for the upload, from one Jersey boy to another.

Do you think it's wise to clone a super sweet 100 sucker before frost comes and "overwinter" the plant? Mine is in it's second year due to your hinged hoop house but it's so big it will definitely have to die this winter and rest the bed.

You can, but that would be a decent amount of work keeping it alive and through the winter. Why don't you just want to start a new one next year? Is it so it will be larger going into next year spring? I would just plant a new one, but if you have an indoor grow area cloning it will be easy to do. You should take a new "sucker" and just stick it into a cup of coco coir or rock wool, that's what I would do, then transplant it to potting mix like happy frog after it has rooted.

@@jamesprigioni Awesome and I just wanted to because it's free haha and I can't save seed from the hybrid super sweet 100

Do it! What's the worst that can happen?

@@blueminutes4686 Could blight come earlier? I am going to because Super Sweet 100 are not true to seed and it was a pretty great producer, earliest of all in my yard. I hate going and buying another SS100 from the hardware store, and my winter lasts only December-March
