I was lucky to find the Youngstown Southeastern train transporting cars for storage. I am amazed at how this train fits in a few of these locations.
A Brief History:
The YSRR begins in southern Youngstown, where it interchanges with CSX Transportation and the Norfolk Southern Railway adjacent to the Mahoning River. It heads northwest up the river bank and then curves southwest to climb a ravine to the highlands of Boardman Township. The original interurban line followed Front Street and South Avenue out of downtown and over the Mahoning River, then a private right-of-way between Wabash and Franklin Avenues, joining the present line just east of South Avenue.[6] Beyond Boardman, the line continues through the highlands, crossing the Norfolk Southern Railway's Fort Wayne Line at Columbiana. As it approaches Signal, where it turns east, and the Pittsburgh, Lisbon and Western Railroad once continued west, it drops into the valley of the Little Bull Creek, which empties into Bull Creek before it reaches Negley. From that community, the Smiths Ferry Branch formerly extended south alongside the North Fork and main course of Little Beaver Creek, reaching the Ohio River at Smiths Ferry. The main line continues east from Negley, up the North Fork Little Beaver Creek valley into Pennsylvania, where it ends at Darlington. It formerly continued a short distance farther to the Fort Wayne Line at New Galilee.

Those GP9’s (especially the high hoods) are on my favorites list. Good to see them still in service.

I am a big fan of these engines as well. The new engines are great but to me these older ones have more character.

Glad you enjoyed it. One of my favorite spots to film a train.

Awesome catch! How often does a train run through the rock cut at the beginning?

I can say at times it looks really close, but it always makes it.

@@Ericstrainyard I would love to film a train in that rock cut but I know it probably doesn't get much use
@lowellvillerailfanproductions
@@JawToothactually Jaw tooth it gets more use then anyone thinks the speed limit for the Youngstown Southeastern Railroad is 10 mph except for Boardman Ohio because in Boardman Ohio it's literally Crossing after Crossing after Crossing after Crossing on the Youngstown Southeastern

@@JawToothThis is the 3rd time this year I’m aware of they have gone through the cut. I could have missed a couple at the beginning of the year. I only learn of them using the cut by luck as a drive by the day before and I see them preparing.

I’ve watched a bunch of your videos over the last few months. You get some really amazing shots as well. This location can be difficult to film. I was told even hours before this they would not be pushing through here. Too often they either don’t know or rather not say. I could always tell you the day before I see activity but that’s still rolling the dice.

Patience must be a virtue when following this line due to those low speeds. It's hard to believe how tight that Rock Cut Is. Excellent coverage of an obscure line

Thank you. Yes this has to be the easiest train line for us to keep pace with due to the speeds. The scenery of this route is amazing.

Fun fact GP 38-2 5152 was given to the Y&SE from their sister railroad the Chesapeake and Indiana railroad
