I have the G2 83 and i for me, the diference is not this big, and tyson os is soo Bad. Love my G2, it ist absolutly amazing, every time i Look a movie on it and I think, that is too good to be true, im flashed from my G2.
Another benefit of the S95B is that combined with some Samsung soundbar you can combine the TV speakers for the best sound. I combined S95B tv with q950b soundbar and it uses all the speakers.
Hey Quantum great video. I am getting my s95b this weekend, I was wondering if you have a video on the recommended settings as I have read it may be too saturated out the box when gaming
Would you still recommend the s95b over g2 with the latest firmware that dims the picture? Doubt I could find an early s95b model that hasn't been updated.
Nice comperison, the best i think!! I like the G2 for its soft images like plasma. So much calmer for my eyes. I have ordered a 65 inch LG and my viewdistant is 4.3 m.
Man I’m struggling with the s95b. My first one stopped working, second one was quite bent, and third one came so bent it was laughable. But I feel like I’ve had a string of bad luck, the reviews for the tv are so good. And they are still price matching my original price of $1400 which makes it hard to go with anything else…
Quantum you are absolutely right. Watched this before deciding to upgraded from my cx10. I went for the G2. The motion handling blows away my cx10 and looks more 3d. Also i needed gsync and freesync. No doubt the samsung looks better but your analysis helped me decided what i needed, especially since im gaming on a pc with an Nvidia gpu
@Quantum_TV my living room doesn’t get direct sunlight. My panel (currently 55”) is kitty cornered away from any windows so even the ambient light I do get effecting the screen is non existent. I don’t mind spending good money, but I also don’t like wasting money. I’m pretty sure I’m staying @55”. I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on what I could go with for my metic’s… love movies and gaming also 😎
the sales guy wanted me to buy G2 when I was already at the counter. He was trying to get me explain why the S95B. He was giving me the cons: It’s a first gen product, blooming, no DV support, etc. I just wanna pay and get the hell out of there. He actually was helpful but I am already informed buyer and I just wanna blow my money on a S95B. I was originally going for sony A95K but the price made it looked it so enticing for the samsung it was a better deal for me. It just needs to hold up for 2 years until my next upgrade hopefully
Ok does anyone know exactly how thick the entire tv is? Also with the included flush mount how far does it protrude from the wall? I have a sliding barn door that I extended and am wondering if the tv would pass under it
Hi Quantum, I wanted to get the LG G2 and ended up ordering the Samsung qn90b . I have a large 9x9 foot window (west side) in my living room and from the research I've done I understood that OLEDs will not perform well in a very bright environment but the qn90b would. Do you agree?
Hey what’s up quantum, I purchased the c2 it kept going to some kind of power off sleep mode turning the tv off after 20 min with all energy things and timer turned off, even after factory reset twice … Then I purchased the s95b 65 and it arrived defective also the anti glare rubbed off in a certain spot with just a faint touch .. scary .. along with Tizen software it changed as opposed to the old tizen . I’m using Apple TV 4K the one that came out a few weeks ago . So now Saturday BB is bring me a 65 G2 for the bedroom and I must say the s95b is a beast . But do the g2 have the secret menu like other Oled in the past ? I have a 77CX in the living room I’m upgrading next year, and Im using your bt 2020 secret menu on that one to bring out color . Can I do that with the G2 ? Let me know when you can and if so what you think I’d appreciate it
I have an adjustable wall mount. I can tilt, move it back and forth etc. But will the S95B be okay with that? I can imagine, that due to physics and poor build quality the panel might bend itself
s95b, I discovered 3 dead pixel few days after purchase and returned ut. Was I unlucky (please answer only if you are a perfectionist that checked for dead pixels properly)?
I got my 55" a couple of weeks ago and it still had the OG firmware 1098 on it. Stupid me didn't disconnect the wifi so it auto updated to the latest firmware 1304. I was upset at first but honestly I'm fine with it as I wanted to use all of the TV's features which required it to have wifi so. I'm using this TV mostly for gaming and it's super bright still so no complaints at all.
Question, I want to pick up a 77” Oled, currently there is no 77” Samsung, should I be waiting till next year when new TV’s come out and see if there’s a 77” Samsung? I should also mention I’m building a new home and we won’t be moving in until the beginning of 2023, so I’m fine waiting a few months if we will see QD-Oled’s next year. Curious on your thoughts. Thanks!
I am in the same situation as you wondering if I should wait for next year to get the 77 inch. Though the lack of Dolby Vision is a bit off putting. So the 77inch G2/C2 or wait till next year is what I am debating on.
Hi. I struggle with HGIG and Dynamic Tone Mapping for gaming. Almost everyone say that HGIG os better for accurate image, but the screen looks so dull and dim compared to the Dynamic Tone Mapping. I have LG C2 55 inch by the way. Can you give me an advice? Thanks in advance.
Hey quantum i found a s95b 65 inch thats on sale for 1399! The thing is theres two mfr part and their is a 1st generation and 2nd generation s95b should i get the 2nd gen since its newer? Also is the s95b still better if i dont update it like people were saying before? Please reply thank you!
I think the pictures on LG are more natural and real life like whereas on S95B, in true Samsung manners, are oversaturated. I also feel the details are more on the G2. Also one very important thing not covered here is that blacks on G2 is just next level, to the point that s95b blacks almost look grey. Do check it out.
Hi - thinking about getting the 65" S95B from Costco, but a bit concerned about getting a bent panel. Do you just lay a level on the panel to see if it's bent? Costco offers a 5 year warranty with it so I suppose I could just keep exchanging if necessary. And I don't understand the deal with the firmware ... shouldn't a newer version of firmware give better performance? and if not shouldn't you be able to reinstall an earlier version of the firmware? Thanks for the professional review!
I think the brightness was just lowered for filmmarker mode. Ppl were complaining the brightness was over done in that mode and wasn’t what the content creator wanted.
I’m not sure why Samsung won’t offer Dolby Vision on their TV’s I know they’re trying to go their own route with HDR 10 + but at that price I think it should be a option.
The whole hdr its a mess, samsung don’t need dolby vision. I honestly think sometimes hdr is a scam becuase theres no perfect tv they should just use an open standar. On paper dv is better but no tv can handle that and it has many issues on gaming
Great comparison but the question many people are asking and I haven't seen answered yet is what firmware version you are using on the S95B. If it is one of the most recent, which are said to nerf the nits and lower peak brightness, can we expect the G2 to now appear equal or brighter? I'm also curious how the S95B, with the current firmware patch, compares to the C2 as they are both equally priced in my region at the moment.
Would u still reccomend S95B nowdays, prices for that TV going down a lot rly, but so scared in what shape will i get this tv cause it is so thin, and all those troubles lots of ppl had with bent panel...
I have a s95b. Had it for two months and my panel has died. In am returning it and getting a G2. Don't go near the Samsung. I knew it was only a matter of time till it had some issue.
Great video. I have a couple of questions please. I'm in the market for a 65 both are the same price here. My main useablelity is to watch streaming services. ) How is the longevity and warranty of the S95B compared to G2? Would you say one is more susceptible over the other to panel degradation in the future (e.g colour dimming..etc.) 2) How much of a role would a lack of Dolby Vision play in picture/colour quality?
This was very helpful, even at this late date as I contemplate a year old TV purchase since I’m not a millionaire. My preference now leans G2 because I hate motion artifacts more than just about anything else, and the Samsung color just reads to m eyes as… cloying? Anyway, regardless of TV I’ll for sure circle back, join up and get your specs. Cheers.
Great comparison. I took delivery of G2 77 " today and returned the S95B 65". Quantum- you are correct about reds color pop on S95B but I found it annoying especially watching football games with red color uniforms. It just looked too cartoony. Also, S95B buggy UI didn't do it for me along with motion artifacts so swapped it out for the G2 in larger size. As a Quant member, cant wait for your G2 settings upload. When do you plan to share?
Sounds like you want the brightness and color saturation of the QD-OLED and the motion of the LG. You won’t agree, but get an A95K. QD-OLED with excellent motion in my opinion
I think most of scene that S95B is able to do better than LG because Samsung does not do aggressive highlight reduction and does exhibit much less colours cast than G2 produced. G2 produced too much colours cast in both bluish and cyanish and too aggressive highlight reduction especially on white pant. Only except the NFL S95B is struggling to do with green grass that comes up bit too brownish. Both TV are very good though anyway.
Checked out the LG c2 today in a 77 inch screen running normal digital input, wasn’t that impressed with the picture quality. The s95b looked great but was running a different input so wasn’t sure if the retailer was pushing the Samsung tv.. Still not sure what to get.. (they didn’t have the g2 in stock)
The G2 and C2 aren’t the same, it’s fairly well known that the G2’s on paper specs are a big step up. The G2 is almost like a turbocharged version where as the C2 is the naturally aspirated version.
The Tizen OS is hot garage. My biggest complaint is to do with the "Recent" menu option on the main menu that is supposed to give you a preview of the inputyou used last. When you hover the selector over this option (it's usually the option that is selected by default) it will then wake up the the last external device you used (provided that the device has HDMI-CEC enabled) and that will eventually lead to the external device changing the input of the TV to that device about a minute later, once it wakes up. To give you an example of what happens: You happen to move the selector right past this "Recent" menu to open Netflix, pick out a show, then all on its own the TV will switches to your XBox, for seemingly no reason at all. This is a huge problem! Also, if you hover over this "Recent" menu option, it will change the video profile to whatever is appropriate for that input, meaning the sceeen will flash and the interface will freeze up every time you accidentally go over it. The Bluetooth remote that comes with the TV has too few buttons. The most important buttons missing are the input / source, settings, and mute volume buttons. This makes changing the source / settings require jumping through a bunch of menus each time you want to change something. I bought a 3rd Party remote that connects to the TV via Bluetooth and can learn infared signals from other remotes, I used this to add back a lot of functionality, but it's not perfect. It often takes a few seconds to reconnect after going into sleep mode and the IR signals are weak. I plugging in my bookcase speakers through an amp connected to the aux port in the back of the TV. I changed the input to "Headphone". It's the only option that let's you change the volume through the TV. "Audio Out" gives you a fixed volume. Both of these options make my speakers pop very loudly often when I turn the TV on or off. It will make popping sounds in the middle of the night when the TV has been off for hours. Tested with a different cable and a different amp, same problem. "Audio Out" does not make as much popping. The amp I have came with an IR remote, so I'm using that with optical audio source, but I don't like doing it this way. I can't see the volume number, and I have to aim the remote precisely at the IR receiver for it to work. There are some HDMI audio receivers out there that are compatible with the TV, and will allow the TV to control the volume, but I have not tried this out yet. The interface is slow, way worse than my Chromecast. I don't want to use it. I can't control my xbox SX with the remote like I can my PS4, maybe a Microsoft issue? The screen itself is great! Blown away by the brightness and the rich colors. Panel was not bent. If you connect many different devices into the HDMI ports, be ready to wait some time while the tv tries to identify the source. Wish it would just show the source right away. Motion smoothing is needed to prevent judder (one of the down sides of OLEDs) and 95% of the time it makes the video look like it was recorded at a much higher frame rate, it looks so smooth! It works great at 4 or lower, but about 5% of the time I will notice some artifacts or playback issues. Hope this improves with a software update. I seen this review on the best buy website/ page for the S95B, so now I don't even know if I even want to purchase this television on Black friday 😳, not good.
Good comparison video. I needed a panel that was built like a tank, not built like a fragile art object. I chose the 55" G2 because I am mounting it to a roll-around monitor stand that will be running on one 4090/13900 PC, being shared by two different aluminum profile gaming cockpits. One for Flight sims and one for racing sims. I didn't want to worry about breaking the fragile panel of the Samsung. I have a 1080p Samsung that I have had to do electronic repairs three times in the last 15 years. I repair Diagnostic Imaging(MRI/CT) for a living, so repairs were done by me, at a total cost of $225. It's still running though. From all the comments I read about the G2, C2, C3, S90C, and S95B, I have come to the conclusion Samsung panels are fragile and prone to bending and electronic failure, while the LG seems to be more reliable, and better built than the Samsung. I concur that the Samsung seems to have better color, but that color doesn't always seem consistent with the true color we see in nature. It has more "pop" but seems at times cartoonish and less realistic. I can live with less "pop", but not less reliability and fragility for my use. I chose the G2 over the C2 and C3 because it was built stronger and was brighter. And I also chose it because the G2, C2, C3, and S90C(S95B isn't) are sold by Costco, and you can't ignore the free 5 year warranty they provide. Thanks again for the detailed picture comparison review.
I just received my 65 inch s95b on Saturday. Man that tv is a beast. Especially for that price. Best picture I've ever seen. Especially in gaming. I'll probably be joining your channel to get your picture settings
You weren't even comparing HDR modes. This was SDR video... There was also a huge gamma mismatch between the displays. The S95B was set to B1886 and the G2 set to a linear 2.2. Terrible comparison.
sdr is the universal standard for all digital media. Hdr is still in development and is wildly inconsistent. there is NO reference standard for hdr so comparisons are pointless. That combined with the log footage look hdr gives is why sdr is superior for comparisons, and why i default to comparisons like this. Now as far as gamma unless you've got superman vision, don't just hurl words out to sound smart. You cannot see everything on a recording of a tv. My settings transform these sets for maximum performance. The G2 has a black crush problem so 1886 isnt an option. Appreciate your enthusiasm but chill out and listen to the pro in front of you and learn something.
If white is too warm, you need to cool it off by lowering the color temperature. Change it to the color temp that is most appropriate for your preference.
I researched for months trying to decide between the panasonic lzw2004, LG G2, S95b, A95k, and phillips 937. Then this years models came out and fkked me even more. I went with the G2 65, or ill be researching until 2050
i think you missed one important thing about the highlights, most of them are way blown out on the Samsung, on LG you can see the details in the highlights but you mostly miss them on the samsung.
Hi, I am looking to buy new tv 65inches: I am in tie between these Samsung S95B, LG G2, C2 TVs. In my living room usually it has a more sunlight. Can you suggest me which one would be best among these TVs for best movie experience. I don't play video games. I am planning to buy for this coming Blackfriday. Thank you!
Samsung does look better. Motion and Depth are the deciding factors for me. As much as convenience can go over picture, I hate the Samsung breakout box.Great video. Thank you.
Nice comparison, although to my eyes this makes a good argument for the G2. The extra brightness of the Samsung destroys fine detail in many of the examples. Take the scene at the end with the woman painting, the left and top of the painting is much more detailed on the G2. I'm all for bright, but not at the expense of detail.
That’s not how brightness works in HDR. In filmmaker mode, the PQ EOTF standard is followed so the content tells the TV what brightness to output. The filmmaker mode on the s95b is perfect in terms of brightness accuracy so the only thing higher peak brightness gives you is the ability to follow creative intent as you’re able to hit higher brightness that the content requests. If on the G2 content requests 1000 nits the G2 has to tonemap that down to its display capabilities
I'm surprised that actually prefer Samsungs color in many scenes. LG definitely flattens red tones, and seems to lose highlights. I've never like Samsungs skintones, and their greens can be odd, but generally I really like their calibration. The LG can get there but needs more work.
This versus is against the latest samsung firmware? Cause not it has less relevance to end user because the samsung brightness cap and maybe other "tweaks"... Im in a market for a new tv....still undecided
I feel like the S95B Whites are too bright where they lose most detail in my opinion. On the LG I can tell detail and that I’m looking at the back/side of someone’s pants. I’m trying to find out which to buy. But I’m more impressed with the LG G2
From what I'm seeing, the dynamic range is better on the LG, it's less likely to overexpose parts of the content. & Thats a good thing when it can get bright enough without blowing out highlights
When tvs are very bright, cameras clip whites. That blown out white is not there in person. Never use camera recordings of a tv to judge tvs. They are not a true representation of the product.
I mean this in the most respectful way possible. You don't have enough yet. You need atleast $400-$600 to get a good set. $150 tvs are made as cheap as possible, and are not reliable.
Thanks man now I know I want the S95B. I was really debating between these 2 TVS and finally I made my decision. Brightness is definitely a important factor for me, I tried the LG C2 good tv but just wasn’t bright enough for my liking, so I was going to switch to the LG G2 or the S95B. So definitely sold me on the huge brightness difference on the S95B and better true reds not orange like red as you were saying on the LG G2.
You lose a lot of the details when you overblew the brightness. I would still choose the LG for the depth and naturalism of the colors. Brighter isn't always better.
I have the G2....hallleluja thanks God... No Updates where Crash the tv and Pick the nits..... And the second is brighrtness is not all!!! Show content in Hdr and We will seeeeeee❤❤❤❤
