God That would not be strictly enforced in such a situation. Of course, in an instance like these, the best advice a player could give would be to wait for the trainer.
definitely give credit to the ump at 7:00 being able to walk away from that. I played catcher in high school and had a pitch skip off the plate and catch me in the throat. I passed out in about 10 seconds and woke up in the back of an ambulance outside the field with a flashlight in my face. Props to him even being able to stand.
@@Religious_man - lol your comment was from a year ago. Anyway, they were talking about exaggeration of injuries in modern sports. And then you come in talking about tornadoes
I got hit by an 84-86 mph pitch in the rib cage, and it killed. I can't begin to imagine a line drive from an mlb player, off an mlb pitcher, in the ribs. Damn
Riley Anderson the one he hit was probably ~108 mph lol I'm talking about how you got beamed ~85 mph I'm saying imagine if the one you got hit by was~95 lol
+Foodlover11 Oh well yeah. And it's hard to tell how hard it was hit but yeah I'd say high 90s at a minimum lol. So yeah around 100-110 maybe but yeah damn.
With that Greg Gibson guy, I'd say he was lucky that was so close to his orbital bone, that could have shattered back into his head and caused bleeding in the brain
Br Valio ur so imature i mean he was gine so thank goodness because he could have been seriously hurt fu i mean u would have the same reaction and plus that is a ball moving at nearly 100 mph hitting you SHAME ON YOU
i've gotten hit by a fastpitch softball as a catcher in spots without protection and even at 50-60 mph with a BIGGER impact area, that pain is incredible. i can only imagine a major league baseball pitch would be unreal pain
The first one was very painful to watch, its gotta hurt! It also seemed like the shock from the impact caused temporary paralysis of the umpires left leg. The second guy, who replaced the first guy was far more dangerous. Hits to the throat have been known to collapse the trachea which can lead to a quick and painful fatality. The others left a nice battle scar and some nasty bruises. I'm glad that everyone was ok. I guess its more dangerous to be an umpire than one might think!
i slipped on icy stairs years ago and landed directly on my kneecap, with the force of all my weight...ive broken my shoulder, shin and fingers..NONE were as painful as when i broke my kneecap..the first 3 nights was a constant knifepain right in my knee, nothing helped thr pain
austin kha i think maybe you have to go thru some other upiring, i see some first base and othe base umpires kinda young then home plate seems to be older, idk though :S
Someone make a meme of that. *Play of the Game* *Joe West as First Base Umpire* -Shoots fucking lasers out of his eyes as he flexes and destroys the fucking planet-
Every plate umpire should wear as much protective gear as is available. 46 years ago I saw a plate umpire get hit square in the scrod sack when our catcher moved away from behind the plate attempting to catch a fastball and throw out a player trying to steal second base. I was in center field and heard the thump and the groan as if I was right there. He was taken to the hospital. He was not wearing a cup.
So basically the Angels and Mets are bad luck for umpires. Also find it ironic that Manny was there for an umpire being down and ended up being the umpire that went down in two separate occurances. Also that ump getting drilled in the arm but just brushing it off...legend
The title is "UUU" and those lyrics are from Drake, the song was hotline "bling" bling means gold. The first thing you think about when you hear gold are golden accessories like a chain. Chain smokers. You get lung cancer. Lung cancer= Mr.Lung can serve. But he's a bad pitcher. And this video is about bad pitches too. The title fits perfectly :)
at the three minute mark, all i can think of is that song "boot to the head". in all seriousness, this video proves that you can injured just being on the field.
