UNBORE: Falling in love with the Fiat Spider 124 

Tom Tjaarda was the designer. In 1963 Chevrolet commissioned Pininfarina to build a one off custom body as a styling exercise for the new series 2 Corvette. Tom designed the steel bodied Rondine (swallow) concept car, so named because the rear wings had a swallow tail look. Chevrolet didn’t go any farther with the car but Tom borrowed styling elements for the 124 Sport Spider that are evident when you compare the two vehicles. My 124 was a 1970, bought when it was 3 years old, also white but with a black interior. Not the quickest or highest quality car I ever owned but absolutely the most charming.

Beautiful open top wind in your hair motoring. That era won’t come back, sadly.

I don't care if these old cars are considered insecure for today standards, they have soul and style and are incredible fun to drive, modern cars... they all they look the same, boring and unstylish.
