Very interesting! Looking forward to seeing how it performs - the marketing images were lackluster. F2 should make it really good though, if the tracking and stacking follow through! Also unsolicited advice: show the assembled Origin with its table tripod in the thumbnail - there's no other scope that looks like it, and it should attract more people than the box on the thumbnail!
The images I show in my upcoming video are more EAA using default setting and allowing it to make all of the decisions bouncing from one object to another as the main test of the software more than anything. I plan to choose an object to go deep on soon and play with all of the settings and also pull the data off to do some more advanced editing, but right now it’s not the goal. Reality is, what I can get in 10 minutes is amazing given the integration time, and if you choose to process it yourself you will get the control you desire. Long term astrophotography will look like this for 99% of astrophotographers, as it won’t make sense to do it any other way, just like we don’t have to build our own PC anymore. Can you still build the “ultimate gaming PC”? Sure. Do most consumers? No. The ROI to do it any other way has diminishing returns.
Thanks for the sneak peak.... Question please: Will that 6" RASA fit on my EVO mount and work like an Origin? Or is the Origin mount made with mated camera controls? Thanks, Michael
Michael, Origin is a single integrated system. It comes as a single unit only. I am not sure of the details as to how this compares to the EVO’s mount.
Should be interesting to see a reviewer testing a release copy vs the beta testing we've seen in limited numbers for months. I'm not a fan of the short tripods of these smart mounts for the specific reason of ground dew and dirt/dust from movement near the telescope are real factors. I understand if compactness is important. However, unless you're flying, the regular tripod is not going to be a significant issue for most owners.
The origin is pretty cool, but the only negative thing about it is that it’s not backwards compatible with lens pieces which is… A bit of a downgrade on my opinion because it only uses the built-in camera
I am Legit Jealous XD ahhhh The Seestar S50 will have to do for now... lol I am still waiting for it to arrived so I can go to dark sites in the middle of nowhere and see what she takes.
