I purchased my first two Opinel knives, and now my EDC consists of an opinel and a boot knife, Opinels are perfection. The boot knife is foe the dirty work. What type of bead would someone recommend for a wood handled knife with a leather string instead of a paracord lanyard?
i just finished my first customized edc A Ontario RAT 3 fixed blade that i handmade arizona iron wood handle scales for and did paracord with a bronze pitbull head bead if u carry it everyday why not make it something to be proud of? forget what the people that dont take pride in making something your own say the cookie cutter be like everyone else life isnt for me either
Jim P that might be cool, but nothing like my super badass Swiss Army knife, it's so bad ass it even has a bottle opener for when I wanna drink some beer while fighting bears.
if you are using a lanyard with a knife dont use it as a fashion accessory make it big enough to go over your wrist so you don't drop it. Otherwise it is worthless! !!!!
If you've watched his lanyard tying tutorials, he explains the reasoning behind the length of his lanyards. He makes them just long enough so that he can hook his pinky around the base of the knot when he's drawing the knife from the pocket. Thinking about it, it makes sense. I've dropped my knives more times when drawing them from my pocket than I ever have while actually using them. A lanyard just long enough to get extra purchase when drawing the knife, but not so long that it snags on things while the knife is in your pocket. Beads are just extra flair. And I'm okay with that.
Frank Jayheather1968 I actually do the exact same thing with my full tang 5-7 inch knives. I make the look just big enough for my pinky and ring finger to slip in, and then further back I make the opening big enough so I can slip my whole hand in there if I want to chop and my knife won't go anywhere if it slips out of my hand.
