If you're an H&K fan, you've probably heard of it but the engineer that worked on those has his own company now and he's a ripper of a guitar player too - Tom Blug built a stompbox amp that's unique and feature loaded along with having amazing tones/timbre. If you come across one it would be cool to see it on the channel.
Also, Tom's really approachable and loves talking tones and tech so maybe just reach out to him about the amp questions you've got. I am confident he'll be happy to explain it all in an easily understandable way. Never met him but have asked lots of questions on livestreams and he seems like a pretty good dude.
When I bought my Epiphone 84 Explorer,it came from Japan, and it also came with a crane. I thought that it was cool because even on the bubble wrap, they wrote the word "enjoy" on it. I messaged them my gratitude, and they were very sweet, even influencing me to maybe one day be on RU-vid. I loved the whole experience.
Damn Grassroots was something I kept lowkey for years hoping people wouldn’t talk about to keep prices down 😅😅😅 They’re great for the price I’m always in the look out for Edwards and Grassroots guitars for Japanese Visual Kei bands like the 4-500 dollar Sugizo Signature models
It's okay, another channel just blew up vintage Takamine deals; thank goodness I only collect flame maple Aria/Ibbys from the 70's/80's. My guess is that since Sweetwater has been ramping up their used gear department (note YT influencers are doing a lot of content on vintage/used gear and it seems most of them are getting it from Sweetwater or literally making their videos in the used gear room) that we'll be seeing a lot more chatter about used markets (and a lot more undervalued gems/deals disappear, if they weren't already gone from the past few years).
@@russellzauner I pray brand loyalists don’t even consider grabbing Japanese knock off 🙏🏻 Edwards and Grassroots do absolutely zero advertising outside of Japan tho unless you’re caught up on Agufish vids they might stay lowkey lol Fernandes is another one of my fav Japanese brands
Dont want to be that annoying advice guy, but i would probably sugest to take that amp to a good amp tech so he can check the circuit board for service or cleaning, that drink spill on the top looks sus af and theres a good chance It got to the board... Anyways sick gear pick ups dude!!
Bro I’ve been in love with H&K when I found out Chris Henderson from 3 doors down used them back in the day I’ll get my hands on one before I die for sure
I saw one of these grass root guitars on reverb . It looks good in the pictures , but i was a little suspicious at first . Price is good for mods , looks solid in this video . I like it 😊 this grass root guitar .
i too, love a good deal and would gladly accept the right price for some cosmetic flaws, as long as it operates as new and wont have longevity issues. in some instances, like my orange cab, i actually enjoy the wear and scuffs on the tolex that ive accumulated all on my own from transit
The Grassroots looks phenomenal for 350 bucks. If it were just the husk it’d be worth 350 hell just the fretboard and inlays look better than anything else under 2000 . Definitely no pickguard on Pinky.
I've had the H&K Triamp mk2 for a few years, I find Channel 3A to be very harsh sounding and quite unusable imo. 3B sounds fantastic and some of the cleans and lower gain tones are brilliant. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a mk3 at some point, I saw John Browne was selling one recently
Try throwing a 10 bang eq pedal in the loop. The one thing I've noticed about the MK II is the eq controls on 3A/B are very limited in their capabilities, hence where the eq pedal takes over.
@jasonmccann257 that is a great suggestion! I had never considered an eq pedal. I'll have to gather some more funds together, I'm already about to pull the trigger on getting some new gear
Triamp Mk II sounds killer! It's got a liveliness to it on channel 3 that sounds amazing. Not as tight for the djenty licks as the Mk III, but in a way more powerful for the non-djent stuff. I'd definitely call it a keeper. Clean it up, send it in to a tech to have the LED replaced and general maintenance done, and add it to Tone Mountain!
No guard 🤺. Black hardware. Hell yeah. Rock out some Psychedelic Furs. The H&K Marks. You got a monster in the rack. And it's Uncle Mark II. Road dog. If I am remembering right. The LEDs for the panel glass lighting effect runs along the edges. Get a RBG strip with multiple color options. And put a sound switch (massive Dumas moment. Forget what it's called) and a remote for ease of control. Still a vicious sounding monster. ?? Grass roots comparable to a epi just with a open book route on top. Do tell. Where do they fall within the LP copy market? ROCK ON
*Whaaaaa!* 🥹 I am a hot pink kinda guy. Hot pink shoes, lots of hot pink polos, all pink discs for disc golf, ect. Plus, fellow Les Paul hypeman and my main amp is an H&K Grandmeister. It's like Hunter read my mind and made this video just for me. Now I've gotta find one of those hot pink Les Pauls from Grass Roots.
No way you got that for $350. I’ve been watching eBay for this exact model and color and they never dip that low and then it’s another $100 for shipping. Let’s see that receipt.
Just bought a JJN Gold Glory so I would Have a p90 Guitar, suprisingly the binding was great as well as the neck and frets,I was worried about flaws n stuff, But hey,Even I can get lucky now and then, Love the vid Hunter.
WHERE did you get this for $350 I went looking for this after the 1st video you mentioned and I can't see one for less than $600 before shipping. And that's a horrible deal.
Killer guitar Hunter. I'd go with nickel hardware, Bare Knuckle Silo or Polymath with neck covered aged nickel, open aged black ribbon bridge. Both with aged nickel screws and no pick guard🤘🏻
Man, all ESP brands and sub brands have their shit together compared to most others. I've been impressed by the occasional Grass Roots and low end LTD models here, totally comparable to midrange LTDs and great mod platforms
This H&K amp has to many knobs , the gut shot probably looks like a computer in the inside 🖥️ . Im not sure if amps techs like working on these types of guitar amps 😢 sounds pretty good on this demo .😅
Oh yeah, a lot of techs refuse to touch the Grandmeisters because they're such a pain in the butt. They packed so much stuff into those lunchbox heads lol
*******. Do a upgrade video for the Grass Roots guitar! But.... do something different!!! Heavy relic'd, with tarnished nickel hardware!!!! Hipshot "Deco" tuners. Bareknuckle "Black Dog" humbuckers w/tarnished covers. Do like a "stoner rock/doom" theme. Something different!!!
Bro your videos are very good. Much appreciated. I rented a TriAmp Mk 2 and I enjoyed it very much. I used it with a Suhr reactive load into my digital audio workstation. All of the tones were usable.
I’d swap the black plastic for cream. I just don’t like black plastic (rings/ pickguard) unless it’s on the perfect guitar for it. It looks cheap to me, like it’s a studio instead of a standard. Just a personal opinion though!
Try Triamp MK1 is ridiculous how good all channels are. Then stick a sonic maximizer in the loop and you are in MK3 territory... Another great HK gem is the Trilogy...
I'm not sure why there's a volume difference between the two amps here. I owned the MKII and then went to the Mark 3 and the Mark 3 is so much bigger. Playing the amp through their respective cabs is important too. The Mark 3 was made for it's Rockdriver TC412 cab and the MKII was made for the industry standard V30s. My Mark 3 with the TC cab can go louder than my MKII ever could, although I do miss the warm smoothness of the MKII with the V30s.
Get Trilogy amp and you will be surprised that Trilogy (1.300 eur new in 2000s) compared with Triamp mk3 sounds similar in some channels plus much better clean Fender on 1a on Trilogy
As a previous HK owner- Everything is meh except the MK series made in Germany. Even those are only OK compared to all of the maintenance, weight, etc for the 2 good tones they make. Not a fan of HK at all. Soft, squishy, wompy, brash with a guitar tone that always seems kind of 'hidden' or hard to hear compared to other amps.
I thought you had a Navigator. The Navigator show was the one the got me hooked to your show. Your show rocks. Thanks for sharing. 🎉I like this except for the paint job.
So yeah..... Just saw your last name in the video here. Slightly different spelling (Engle- Engel), but according to my grandparents most of the different spellings are related somewhere on down the line. They changed them I guess to hide from the nazis during WWII and a little after. I have no idea what the original spelling is. Just noticed that on this video, cool stuff man!! Great video, lots of good info here
Ah man love good deals, got a fender Mike dirnt p bass for little under 2/3 the price because the case had a crack in it and 1 tuner was slightly bent. Hell yeh brother, Dont rly care for the guy himself but it's a sweet sweet bass for the money 🎉
Almost looks like the ebony has some kind of satin lacquer on it. Welp these prices will jump up a lot now! Get them while you can! Never ever heard of this line from esp. That matte black 👌
Have you tried the Tokai love Rock? I just bought one and it blows my Gibson away. If you’re interested let me know and I can ship mine to you to try out
I have a grassroots guitar but want to try more I want to try the the scalloped strat, takayoshi ohmura guitar and mikio fujioka guitar, and also some of the other snappers
Last year's technology is just as good as most things that are new in the year you live in. Not only is it already discounted but can prob find it even cheaper used on FB or cl. Also learning to set up guitars can save you money on stuff that others think is broken.
just a piece of very helpful advice that connector on the back of the triamp that's "stuck" has those 2 prong things on the side screwed in so it stays in so please for the love of god do not use pliers to pull it out you just need to unscrew those 2 prong thingos😭
