I wish I had known about the capacitor problem when I first received my DCC900. I used it for some time before replacing the capacitors, and of course by then they had made the board harder to work on. But it certainly sounds wonderful now, even through the headphone output with really decent headphones.

Don't you have to wear the static charge wristband tightly around the wrist, the metal making contact with skin? Just asking.

That is a good point. Will actually make it a bit tighter.

I have a brand new on that’s never been plugged in with all the packaging etc still on it. I’ve never taken the remote out of its plastic or untied the cables. It’s fully complete. I don’t know what to do with it.

@@Darskeo awesome. Never plug it in before restoring as you might damage something permanently.

@@DRDCC is it the capacitors that leak that you’re referring to? Should I open it and have a look? (I’m a broadcast engineer)

@@Darskeo Hi, you do not have to open it up. The capacitors will be gone and need replacing.

How much would this model cost in 1992 dollars US? Will new capacitors last longer than those used in 1992?
@DRDCC

Around $1000. The new capacitors will last much longer as they do not suffer from this problem.
