As we head into spoopy season come watch me be a mad dolly scientist as I take a Licca body from AliExpress and attach it to a Licca head also from AliExpress, what could go wrong - everything worked out fine for Dr Frankenstein after all...

Ahhh! I love her purple hair ^_^ she's so pretty, I love my (also frankensteined) Licca Chan. Mine is on a stock Blythe body, so I haven't experienced those arms yet. I did have the impression that they were quite rubbery and bendable though too, the original bodies might be more poseable, or maybe you just have to rough her up a bit! >_< She is so super cute in all the clothes you chose for her, gosh, maybe I need more Licca heads...well I AM about to create some more floating bodies when I do more customising...(slinks off to AliExpress again)

The purple is a really nice tone, sort of lilac. It is an odd texture though, because of the whole colour change gimmick I guess. So the arms and legs do bend on this body (Licca) but you have to be a bit firmer with her that I was being. I actually quite like the body, obviously it's the same proportions as a Takara body but I quite like the way that the arms hang and obviously you have the option of being able to pose them a bit better. I definitely need to find her a friend now so might have to be heading over to 'that place' again soon myself 😉

Oh yes, shopping when you’re bored and/or half asleep is never any good! Hahaha “Like what Frankenstein did” very true! Ohhh I love her hair! I think she’s really cute and I love her dress! I don’t have any of these dolls. Beautiful photos!

If only Dr Frankenstein had stuck to AliExpress and doll parts rather than dead bodies and lightening bolts his story might have had a happier ending.

No one's skin on their face and neck match their bodies. When people are in the sun, sometimes their two arms do not match. ;-) I think your new girl is adorable.

Tbh, once the head was attached and she was dressed I didn't notice the difference in head and body tone at all so "it's fine" 😉

The Licca legs have wire in them, so they do bend some. Have you checked Plaza Japan for Licca dolls? It is fun to create your own dolls

The limbs are hard to bend but yes they definitely do, even if it takes some effort. I know that some Blythe collectors LOVE the Licca bodies so much that they swap their Blythe dolls to the Licca body. They are so close size wise that they can share clothes. Thanks for the Japan Plaza tip, I will definitely take a look!

@@MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis Yes, one of my custom dolls, Sorry, the doll that had a missing eye chip when I first got her, is on a Licca body. They are very sweet looking, younger looking than the other bodies I think.

It's wonderful that Aliexprress has such option selling doll bodies and heads separately. This will make customising dolls according to your preference. Like you said, after putting on the outfits, you can't really see the difference in the skin tones. Even with good lighting like what is displayed in the pictures u took, I still couldn't see the difference. She is indeed a cutie pie. Her hair is cut perfectly to shape the face nicely, emphasising her eyes so well.

I was really surprised by what different doll heads and bodies they had on offer on AliExpress - you could literally buy any heads and any bodies and create all manner of dolls from them if you wanted. And yes it's make customising much easier, rather than having to buy a doll that's already perfect you can pretty much purchase a blank doll and paint them how you like and style them exactly how you want etc. By the time I was doing the photos I'd forgotten all about the skin tone differences on the doll. You really can't notice it at all. I really love the way her hair is cut, it's cute having a doll with a fringe/bangs like that, even better when there's no product in the hair too.

I like the way the arms hang on these bodies more than on the Takara bodies. Proportions wise they aren't that much different from the Takara body but yes they are slighter than the obitsu. What I don't like about the obitsu bodies is the weird elbow joints and pegs, obviously I know they are much more posable but they don't look so good in photographs, particularly if you're posing the arms in a sleeveless outfit.

I have looked a lot at licca dolls on Mandarake, but after the shipping and costs of the dolls they just seemed a bit too pricey for my wallet. If I had more clothes in that scale I might be inclined to make a Frankendoll myself ! Yours is super cute, that face is absolutely adorable and I love the outfit choices.

Thank you. And yes, I totally hear you about the postage. Have you looked at Amazon Japan at all? I don't know what the postage might be like to the US so it might be better than the postage here. Plus there's always AliExpress, they also sell clothes on there too if you need them.

Adorable, I was thinking of doing the same. But never actually did, maybe I should buy a head too. It looks cute. I do have some bodies left from customizing. I do like the licca bodies. They have a good feeling. Most legs have bend and snap knees. With new dolls you have to bend them forwards for the first time.

It was really fun - just pleased it worked out well! If you have bodies left after customising it might be interesting experiment for you to do as well? You can get all sorts of doll heads on Aliexpress, even in the Licca style they really vary. I like the Licca bodies too now, I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about - with people swapping Blythes onto them etc - but now I totally get it. There's a real quality about them when compared to the Takara bodies IMO.

I really like the faces on them too, they are very anime/manga looking so quite Japanese. I really love the look, although like I mentioned in the video I still like to see noses and mouths too. I'm definitely glad I got her, even if she was a bit of an experiment. She definitely feels very small compared to some of my dolls.

Hi, the legs on mine bends well but the arm are stiff so not sure if yours should or not, i have seen images of them that do though. She is cute and love her hair, i have never been brave in enough to mix and match heads 🥰🥰 might have to have ago 😍😍

I got them all bending in the end... which I can reassure you is not a line I've ever said before. I just had to be a bit patient and a bit more heavy handed - I was worried that I could end up breaking a limb, especially as I wasn't THAT sure if the body that I'd bought had the Licca wired arms and legs. I was worried that the head might not fit the body as I was doing it a bit haphazardly and didn't really know what I was doing. I'm glad it worked out in the end though. Would definitely recommend as it's a cheap and fun way of getting a Licca doll, especially if you already have tons of clothes that would fit them.

I almost did the same as you with the head and body but I found a complete Licca (with brown hair) for ~$17 USD. I really like her a lot! The legs and arms bend just a bit but I don't force them. She's just a cute doll friend for Blythe 🙂 I know I'm watching this a year after you posted the review, but did you end up getting an official Licca doll? I'm thinking about it now!

It's great that Licca and Blythe can share clothes - it's like they're cousins or step-sisters. I really didn't want to get a blonde Licca and most of the ones that I saw online were blonde so that's one of the reasons that I decided to go the hybrid route.

These dolls have pretty faces. Her hair is interesting. I like the purple. That seems like an excellent price.

The purple is a lovely shade, although the texture of the hair is quite strange, it's also quite thick and heavy. I suppose because it's a thermal reacting fibre it's going to feel different from regular dolls hair.

I've never had a Licca body before but I know that some Blythe collectors love them and will sometimes swap their Blythes out onto Licca bodies. The arms and legs do bend but it's kind of hard to do it, I guess better that than them being way too bendy. She is definitely very sweet looking.

Oooh! I adore her in the yellow outfit with the floral lace you chose. It's kind of hippie-natural, and makes her hair pop. Then with the plants in the background, and her cute expression, your photos just relaxed me all the way through.

Thank you. It was great to get her outside into the sunshine and take some pictures of her, at this time of the year we have to enjoy the sunshine while we still have it. I was torn between the two outfits but liked them both on her and the shoes were perfect for both looks.
