Brother I must say, I love seeing all your new videos, and those beautiful firearms you are adding to your collection. That rifle is so beautiful from what I can see from the video. Thank you for showing us/ me your purchases and absolutely wonderful collections so far.! God Bless you my friend
Thank you very much and thanks for watching. This is originally what I was hoping for from Hunter's Lodge, but now I got at least two types they used which is pretty cool. Hoping to get it apart to see what lurkes under that wood.
Always looking forward to your videos casual. I took some inspiration from your proxibid buys and I purchased my first pew from them the other day. A C. Sharps Pepperbox Derringer can’t wait to get it in my possession
LOL I almost outbid you on that. I literarily bid this up and you took it from me. I was worried it would keep going up. Congrats, the crest is the reason I liked it too. I also wanted the Syrian marked M48, but someone else took that.
Wow....that's wild...in case you're curious my max bid on that was $800. I wanted it pretty bad lol. Keep an eye out, you'd be surprised how many rare guns pop up on proxibid from time to time.
It was made for Israel by FN in the 1950s, it never had any Waffenampts. I have one very similar to this one albeit in rougher condition, probably spent time in Latin America at some point.
Damn that’s beautiful! I looked at them years ago and they were never that nice. In the end I stuck with 8mm Mausers because back then Turkish 8mm could be had for $4 for a 70 round bandolier. I agree with you about the upper hand guard, can’t put my finger on it but it looks wrong.
Thanks! Yeah, I have quite a few 8mm mausers myself mainly because they and the ammo was cheap. Of course, my Brazilian and Colombian mausers are pretty cool (30-06), of course. Yeah, I need to disassemble it to see what the deal is.
Personally I would not replace the upper fore stock or remove the brass shim. For whatever reason the IDF did that, it is part of the history and original to that rifle. It would be like replacing the stock on a Finish M39 with a Russian M1891 stock, yes it is what the rife had originally but it destroys the history of that specific rifle. Just my opinion but it is your rifle. For now. Many collectors feel like I do that we are just temporary custodians of pieces of history, that we should preserve and not try to "improve". I do believe in cleaning "lightly" and replaceing broken or missing parts with the correct parts. I saw part 2 first then looked for part 1 because this rifle is one I have lusted after for years. I have an Enfield 2A and am looking for a 1917. Welcome to the wonderful, fascinating and frustrating world of MILSURPS. Fortunately there is no 12 step program for this addiction that I am aware of, if there is please don't tell my long suffering wife.
I do spend a lot, but I also don't drink or use tobacco, so I guess that's what I spend my money on. I see it as a good investment. Of course I couldn't do it without working two jobs, that's for sure.
This gun has always been such an odd thing of our history. What a strange morale, a nazi gun (you can still see some waffenamps, I believe a wa135) that went to Israel and was used by them. History is so interesting !
I agree these odd firearms are always very intriguing! Much like the American Savage made No.4 Mk 1 Enfields that are marked "U.S. Property" I have one by the way.🤭
