Just had a thought. Do you know the diameter of the pipe? If I knew that I could just go buy a longer piece of pipe, cut it to the length I want and paint it black and use it in place of the pipe that came with it.

I think that would work great if bolted down to the floor. I can measure it or look at the manual for you later. With such a tall pipe even mounting to a heavy wood would help not tip over I think

I got the DeWalt DW758 and love it. I'd like the Wen stand if it were adjustable as I'm 6'8" and need a higher stand. As it is I'm just going to mount the grinder to one of my homemade work benches that I made 48" tall for me to work on stuff easily, lol. I did see that Amazon has an adjustable stand but they wanted twice as much for it as for the Wen. The "sling blade" that I got has serrated edges on both sides on it so sharpening really isn't an option, though I do have a hand scythe as well. I have a 6" grinder but it's almost too small for my riding mower blades, but I'll keep it and just put a wire wheel and a buffing wheel on it.

Edit: My bad, I didn't realize the stand already came with holes in the base.

Can't have too many grinders and sizes. I'm looking forward to a better shop with workbenches. I think the Stand is a middle ground between a bench and a permanent floor mount. I'm hesitant to mount to the floor until I figure out where things will go around the shop, it's a empty shop with no wood framing yet. I'll be sharpening blades later this year when grass stops going. So come back to watch that one.

Instead of concrete, I'd consider drilling holes in the pedestal base and using a hammer drill and drilling into the floor of the garage. Putting pre-drilled vibration pads between the pedestal base and the floor and then driving anchor bolts through the pedestal into the floor. That's how I did with my 60 gallon upright air compressor and it worked great.

I think that's going to work best. I've worried about drilling holes in the foundation slab but I think it is worth the risk. Do you think a Ramset powder actuated tool would be too much for the pedestal?

@@homesteadyall I have no experience with one of those so I really couldn't say. On my compressor I just drilled into the floor with a foot long 3/8's masonry bit in a hammer drill and then used 5" anchor bolts hammered into the holes. I tightened the bolts down and then loosened them about a sixteenth of an inch for stress relief during operation.
