I have this game & I think one issue is you don't get the duel map with this game, though per the designer one will be included in the Under the Southern Cross expansion. But I could be wrong about the necessity for a duel map; I've yet to even punch the counters.
Gary, ever crossed paths with 1805: Sea of Glory? A decidedly different scale/focus than the clearly tactical FC. Decidedly not as popular either, though I did like some elements of it.
Perfect timing, I actually bought this one last month and once I'm through with Won by the Sword this one is the next on my "to play" list - need to finally cut and clip it.
@@ardwulfslair Completely besides the point. If the game has 4 maps it has 4 maps. If it's paper it's not deluxe. What of this IS actually deluxe? Deluxe in the genre of board gaming alludes to deluxified components. Everything else is called e.g. Definitive edition, Anniversary edition or what have you and refers to complete packages from a content perspective.Even Path of Glory Deluxe Ed. upgraded it's map board (double sided with better art on the other side). So yeah...I don't understand what you are trying to say
This has a ton of additional content over the original version, which had multiple printings. If this were just an errata-corrected reprint of a previous version, I'd question the use of the term "Deluxe", but this adds a great deal to the box. I don't consider mounted maps to be necessary or luxurious; often they are superfluous or an outright annoyance. Expecting any publisher to ship a 4-map game with all mounted maps is simply not reasonable; it has occurred in the wargaming hobby exactly once.
@@ardwulfslair additional content isn’t what usually is understood under deluxe though. That is all I am disagreeing with here. Anyway, thank you for the video of course
Different publishers do apply the term differently. For GMT it generally means it's expanded to include previously published expansion material, as here. Note that neither multi-map GMT game with mounted maps (US Civil War and Pacific War) is labelled as Deluxe. Both are outstanding products... but also in both cases there are issues getting everything back in the box once the counters are organized. I'll do a video on this topic!
