In this video I unbox the Hasbro Ghostbusters Afterlife Ecto-1 Playset. This set was $26 at Target and is part of the new wave of GB toys from GBs Afterlife. Overall it's a pretty high quality version of the updated Ecto-1 and comes with the Ecto-1, mini roving ghost trap, a swing out door with gunner's seat, removable ghost blaster and room for a crew of Ghostbusters figures.

Hey, just wanted to say thank you. I took one look at the instructions for the Ecto-1 and didn't have a clue what in the world I was looking at lol. That red/black color scheme makes it incredibly hard to see what your supposed to do, so I went on RU-vid hoping to find a walk-through for it, but everyone was speeding through how to put it together, making it pointless. Then I found your vid, which was very well detailed and I was able to assemble it. Couldn't have done it otherwise. So thank you very much. I put a thumbs-up on the vid for you bro.

Just snagged one today for my son. I struggled the most with the green stickers on the roof rack. I put them the direction it shows in the instructions and they overlap the dividers a bit. It’s a really cool play set though. Definitely feels like more of a predecessor to the Kenner rgb Ecto than any other Ecto release since. I ordered the whole first wave on eBay for my collection which arrives tomorrow. Can’t wait to display them with my OG rgb toys.

I show the difference in the green stickers in the video too as it threw me off - the package shows one way, the directs show another, and the teaser toy show photos show them the way we applied them ha. It definitely looks good - I did a photo with both original Kenner Ectos, the Extreme GBs Ecto, the Mattel 2016 GBs Ecto, and this one - it’s on my Instagram if you want to see it 😎

Great video there, wondering if the lights that are sculpted on the roof rack, are hollow? I want to drill a hole and add my own led lights to the top and to the front of the car .

Thanks! And yes - the lights are hollow and are part of the larger blue window structure that is molded in one big piece. It would be extra easy to add lights because the roof structure is a different piece, so you can take it off to gain even more access!

Did u know kenners ecto3 has to be taken apart just like hasbros gb3 afterlife ecto inorder for it to fit in the box?

Sam I have the original and firehouse by Kenner still to this day. My mom actually climbed the top shelf of the former Toys R Us to get kind that had not been opened and looted for replacement parts. This one of the reasons I kept them to this day. I even have a projector screen toy car game from around the same era made by TOMY who ironically still produces die cast cars.

That’s so cool! The original ones are the best and have really gone up in value too. Those projection road games are rad - tomy/Tomica makes extremely nice 1/64 scale cars as well! That’s awesome you have the stuff still and know their origin story too ha.

@@64Wheels I went thru two Egon figures because of his toe getting broken Egan you squeezed his arms as yuh hand was in the way of the tie moving action. I actually put one up in my safe because they are very hard to find without tie being broken off unless pristine and unopened. I also still have my life sized proton pack and ghost trap too.

I use to have that Egon but I think mine broke lol. The proton pack and ghost trap are so rad - I didn’t have those as a kid but still want to pick them at a toy shows when I come across them. That’s cool to have your originals!

Hey man cool video, I saw this today amd passed simply because I didnt wanna buy it if my Plasma 1 series Ghostbusters couldnt fit inside. Do you have them? Have you tried and or can you confirm they would fit ?

I don’t think the Plasma series figures will fit because of the leg length, as this Ecto was made to fit the smaller 5-6 inch figures

They weren’t out yet when I found this one, but I have since found the four OG Ghostbusters with the new ghosts too. I need to post an update at some point ha

When you put the two side by side, the new one looks good and high quality, but maybe a touch more “toy-ish” than the original bc of the bright colors and softer plastic material….but it’s definitely worth the $26 retail price!
