In this video I am very excited to be unboxing a proper pair of tailor’s shears! I didn’t think it was possible to get excited about scissors, but here we are! Tailor’s or dressmaker’s shears are like a badge of honour and an age old symbol of my craft so I thought it was high time I treated myself to a proper pair of scissors since they are probably one of the most important tools that I use everyday.
Being a UK history geek I had to buy them from a British company that’s over 100 years old, established in the Edwardian era, and trying to keep the traditional craft of scissor making alive. I take the opportunity to talk about why I chose Ernest Wright and the heritage of the Sheffield steel industry. I feel it’s so important to support British industry and small businesses.
