I think I speak for most people when I say, I love it when you flip through over every page of these books. You should definitely do more flip-throughs for your ASMR channel, I'm sure you'll get good views...
Just opened this myself today. Really impressed with the quality. The art book is amazing. The art style particularly for dread reminds me of 80s sci-fi art.
I am kind of disapointed with modern day special editions. They should always include a steelbook, artbook and soundtrack cd with all soundtracks on it. Yet, at least one is always missing :/
Thank you for actually flipping through whole book. It is gorgeous and the book looks amazing with stellar art from the 2D canon series. It is a pity Nintendo didn't make enough and is content to let the scalpers take them all. But it is truly a nice book.
God bless you for flipping through each page of the art book. I wasn't lucky enough to get the special edition but I'll get my copy of the game tomorrow even better my wife is allowing me to stay up late tomorrow said she would even get me a pizza for a long night of gaming granted I'm 40 now but man She's an awesome woman.
Check your local game stops. I found one today! Mine didn’t have them but the employees looked in their database and found one 10 miles away had 6 copies because a scalper tried to take multiple copies. You can also call and ask the to hold it for you, it’s only for one hour though
Thanks for uploading! I'm actually a little sad that the NA release doesn't come with the original box for the game (just the steel case). However, the cardboard holder that we get is very unique in that it has the outline of enemies in the game. Other than that it's the same.
I just bought mine today from a personal seller as I wasn’t able to preorder or get one the day of release. I watched this unboxing video first and I thought the seller had opened and resealed it while taking the original box for himself, until I realized the area under the sleeve holding the cards was to small to fit a switch game box. Haha. I was relieved I didn’t get ripped off. But it looks like I’m buying the game a third time to get the original box now.
@@stevenbrace8579 i actually was lucky enough to get mine day 1 because one of the clerks at gamestop knew that one of the pre-orders was placed by a scalper so he let me buy it instead lol
I actually don't mind that my NA version didn't have the original case, like I originally thought it would. My nephews standard edition came release day (his bday gift from me) and I managed to get an order in for the Special Edition for myself. His was sitting there for days, teasing and tormenting me while I waited anxiously for mine. I was tempted to just take his, and then swap out our standard cases and give him the game from inside my special edition. Thank goodness I decided against that hahaha. I'd have to go buy another copy!
There's a few differences here between this, and the NA version. For starters, the outer box is different. The NA version is surprisingly nicer here with 3D print and holographic details. The inside has a few differences as well. Like others said, the NA version has an off-white cardboard holder that only holds the steelbook (with the game inside) and the art cards. The book sits solo in the box. It doesn't look as sleek, but the enemy silhouettes that are carved into it are a nice touch. Also as noted by others, we don't get the original game case which is kind of a bummer. I also noticed a difference between the art cards. While yours is entirely holographic, ours is holographic in only specific details. The game art on all the cards are holo, as are the the symbols above the name of each game, as well as the art detail that flows through behind the square of each box art. Pretty interesting comparing the two.
Yes, I also noticed from 3 different unboxing videos. One doesn't have the regular physical game cover, the other has extra note and then this one who have both.
@@mlj4551 North America. There are some online shop apps which sells it but since you're quarter a year late, expect the remaining ones are gonna a bit more pricey.
@@mlj4551 I guess go for JP or EU instead of NA. North America version lacks original game case, has a messy box cover for its labels yet it has nice bulged details and white holder. Japan version have flat box, you have both steel box and game case, black holder. European version have like both, messy box and bulged details, black holder, both steel box and game case are there. *Those are just the obvious details, the rest that aren't notable, ask @EXxileOnline (the one who made the comment) because he/she knows most.
Wait the European version came with the standard case PLUS the steelbook? Here in the US we only got the steelbook. I was pretty disappointed when I opened it to be honest lol
I wonder why the packaging is different from the North American market and the european market. North amercian market you don't even get the soft case just the hard case and its less protected then what you guys get in the european market.
I'm not sure how people noticed but they upgraded the art book. If you look in the original posting picture it's a soft cover, while the final release was this amazing hardcover
Sure! People love to complain about the way Samus was ordered to not use her full suit, and got the powers back by authorizations, but at least that was an original take to the formula, instead of "Samus loses everything at the start of the game and has to find them from Chozo ruins".
Metroid releases are so rare that i bought the standard to play and the special edition to keep in box. Also. This has been one of the better special editions Nintendo has released in a while.
Not sure if you noticed, but the EU version did not get the main box with an Embossed Samus picture or an embossed "Metroid" logo. The US version of the box is so much nicer with quality embossing for Samus and the logo. The other main differences are in the EU version the box lifts up to reveal the contents and the US version the box needs to be opened. The original game case comes with the EU version and it does not for the US. Just wish the EU version had the embossing, but I guess we cant get everything :-(
Man, the official store photos do not do this special edition justice. I gave up on getting this after the first round of pre-orders sold out. It did not look that good from the photos, they made it seem like the art book as much thinner and softcover. But I had the chance to get it this morning, and I chose not to. After seeing this, I kind of want to try again, if there is another chance to get it... I already pre-ordered the standard game, so I guess I shouldnt' open that until I am sure I can get the special edition... MAN, why is buying games and game accessories like amiibo so complicated? I was able to order the amiibo for this game this morning, but it was just under the price for free shipping, so I was pre-ordering Advance Wars along with it, but I guess pre-orders don't count towards the free shipping amount, so in a panic I bought a pretty premium-priced used game along with it (when I could have gotten the special edition smh.) Then I see that the game I just bought and the amiibo set are shipping separately, so what is the point then? sorry about that...
I wish the US version came with the regular plastic Switch case as well. I will never want to put the steelbook case on a shelf because it will get scratched.
Before I got my own special edition in the mail, I just knew you were going to have an unboxing video. It's a bit of a shame that the NA version doesn't include both the standard case and steelbook case unlike the EU version. We basically got a prettier box at the cost of only having the steelbook lol Hope you enjoy the game!
@@noneya9074 not really, it's so we can have both cases, most people put the steelbook on display and then the normal case as the actual holder It's what I do atleast, I find it odd how they didn't give both and changed the packaging so much for the US version I
@@finngamer It was mostly scalpers. They did pre-orders and within like an hour all the Special Editions were gone and Ebay already had a lot of listings. Then other sites that were slow on getting stock got cleaned out. It's not just collectors it's scalpers because of all the Ebay listings. Even now me trying to get this thing is jumping into some importing to snag a Japanese one. America is really bad with scalpers scooping up Nintendo things like this.
I will do an updated Wii collection at some point, definitely. For the Wii U there's little need, as I have done a complete Wii U collection video already (just a couple of variants added after this video): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0-lxWnAF1xk.html
I had to buy one of these off of a scalped from eBay, but i was ok with spending a bit extra to get my hands on a copy. The book and all of the artwork included looks amazing! I can’t wait to open mine up tomorrow morning when I get it in the mail! As far as the game goes, it’s a good one! I’ve seen many giving it really good reviews and for good reason. The game looks stunning, plays like a typical Metroid game (with the power ups, beam upgrades, etc) and is difficult at times, but not overly difficult. I’ve found myself playing for about 10 hours now and not once did I become bored or frustrated, even if I was doing some back tracking or checking everything really well (I like to collect 100% items). I can’t say enough good things about this game. I’m very happy with it and will enjoy it just as much as the classic Metroid games that we all know and love! Hope everyone had fun playing DREAD!
@@finngamer I’ve heard a ton about it being “linear” much like fusion was, but I’ve been able to use bomb jumps to get to a few places that I know we’re not intended LOL so that makes me happy. I love the freedom of sequence breaking even if it’s just occasionally. That makes the game a lot more memorable and makes the replay value HUGE. I love this game so far. They did a great job with this one
@@DIGITALidRU-vid eh. Buying one copy of a video game isn’t going to make much of a difference. People will still continue to do this same thing anyways
😠 why the US version did not bring the plastic case included!? I'm forced tu use the steel case or store the game inside the big thing once i finish it.
Nice video thank you for making it. i have one question. where did you get that nice fine knive you have in de video to remove the plastic and tape from? really hope i get a answer with a link or how they call such knives. thanks you kindly already
That's a hobby knife, also known as an X-acto knife. I use it for cleaning miniatures. this one is made by Citadel, the company that also makes Warhammer miniatures. But you can get a similar one at any hardware or arts & crafts store.
@@y3y046 PAL versions? Maybe they just removed it, it's not the prettiest or the most convenient piece of plastic. I bought this straight from the distributor, so definitely it's the official method of packaging. :)
I’m picking mine up tomorrow and the amiibos and don’t even wanna open them. Just got a separated copy of the game alongside the new Oled Switch to play it. This one goes to my collector shelf.
what does nintendo have against metroid prime? they ignored it in the cards and in the art book. thanks for uploading this also and going through it the way you did
The 2D Metroids are a different series. Super Metroid was called "Metroid 3" in the opening screen, and Metroid Fusion was "Metroid 4". Dread was "Metroid 5" only in the reveal trailer, sadly wasn't in the actual game opening. So the book and the cards are just the history of the 2D Metroids, Metroid Primes 1-4 are a different beast!
Havent looked at the artwork yet, asume it contains spoilers, always remeber buying x-men last stand, and watching the extra material on the second disc before watching the movie excited as fuck, to see how they made the disentegration of xavier scene :)
Didn't even occur to me someone would grade cards that came in some special edition. :D Not that I would, but could you grade these at a company that grades comic books, or something? Some company that makes bigger cases.
@@remix4098 Not true, I played and finished it myself on normal and Hard, gameplaywise I got fair amount enjoyment put of it. Though storyw8se it was crap that won't defend.
Just realized the US version is different slightly in packaging, and doesn't come with the regular game cover like the UK release. Also the Japanese release has a softcover art book instead of the hardcover. The 1st Japanese art card is different as it's Famicom cover as opposed to the NES cover. The grey colored tray for the US release has Emmis embossed in it though. The UK and Japanese releases have black tray. Australia has white tray. UK box opens as a front facing slide whereas the other releases have a flap type top opening box. Wonder why they changed all this. Confusing why they decided to change the inside packing
