There are so many older books out there its fun to hunt for them. They are rare to find so its way more of a treasure hunt to hunt for golden age.

Yeah that table had some amazing deals. The second place with 50% off books was awesome great prices. I would have bought so much more there if I had not purchased the two boxes of golden age.

I do love old school cartoon strip characters, Mutt and Jeff Came out about 20 years before Popeye. The creator of Popeye was a young teenager when Mutt and Jeff was first published so it could have had an influence on him for sure.

Golden books are so hot now and horror idem, If u press and clean the best ones on heritage auction example ) u can make serious money with those books Again so happy u get into gold and not modern .👊😂🤘

Yeah prices have been insane for Golden Age on Heritage lately, so hard to find a deal there. If I were going to sell these I would clean press and slab them then send them to auction. But these bads boys are going into my pc for now. Been collecting gold for years, they show up semi often in my videos. I also collect modern and everything in between lol

Can't go wrong with Golden Age books no matter what genre. --Especially grades of VG or better!! And it appears you got quite a few F-VF or above! You wentt for the volume discount. --It paid off!!

Yeah when you can get a really good deal buying in bulk I am always going to do that. And the condition on a lot of these was spectacular.

The prices on the GA is about 2x market, but that means you still got for 1/2 price, so you did well. The Daredevil 48 is on my want list I always liked the cover.

Yeah that was my thought exactly, that they were for the most part over priced to give room to haggle, but I do think some of them have gained valued since they priced them so a portion was closer to actual value. Eitherway I am thrilled to get a couple of boxes of golden age books in mid to high grade for the most part for a great price. I do really like the Daredevil in general 48 is a fun cover. I feel the urge to collect more of that run.

I have no ideal about the retail end of thhis, but as a collector I would say you got a good deal on the first box for sure. The second box was the kind of eclectic stuff I love and the price was pretty good. The two bonus books were a nice get.

Definitely, I approach my collecting as if I was buying it to resale most of the time. These were for my PC because I love Golden Age stuff but I think I picked everything up for a fraction of its value so that was great.

you should find a way to link this vid to the book titles or at least the decade, so if anyone is ever searching for 40s comics or any of the specific titles it will pop up as a search result. not sure if listing titles in the show more section would help people searching for old covers or not . but this vid is def a historical resource one would think

If you are trying to make a good profit, it would probably take a long time to sell them all, but if you are keeping them in your collection, you hit a home run. Either way I think you did ok

I think if I was buying them to make a profit, what I would do is send them to be graded. Atleast the mid to high grade ones I could send them off to Auction I think they would sell really well. But I bought them for my own PC so I am happy.

The problem with these books is that NO ONE wants them. They can be ‘valued’ at $5000, but try to sell them at FMV or even 40% off FMV. You won’t, they’ll be dead weight. That’s why he dumped them on you I’m afraid. They are mostly kids books, and kids are not going to pay $10 for a comic and parents are not going to pay $9-10 for a golden book kids are going destroy anyway. Moral of story, never buy these books unless you can get for $8-10 or less. If you just want for PC that’s a different story. You did get a couple like the Wings, that are desirable.

Value wise a lot of these are some of the nicest copies out there, so if I was to get them graded I know they would sell really well and for decent prices on auction. Golden Age books have been kinda on fire lately. That being said I bought them for the PC and super happy to have them.

@@pop-comics agreed. However be careful with grading. Not every book graded will yield great returns. Note, that golden age grading costs a premium at CGC. The market and times have changed. We are in the junk slab era.

Yeah but if there is a chance that that a book is in the top 5-10 graded books its worth the effort if I was selling. Stuff like that is selling for crazy prices on heritage right now

@@pop-comics I disagree. Unfortunately, Not the books you picked up. Choice golden age horror and sci-fi in auction and high grade sure. Not Pogo or cartoon themed Goldens nor Westerns. The seller was keen to pick out the desirable ‘good girl’ covers and ‘monster’ related covers before selling to you. Let me know how much money you make flipping them if you do. I could be very well wrong, but I’ve been at this far too long to know what comics go for. I think New York everything is over priced so a $6 book looks ‘cheap’ to you when the rest of the country is selling the same book for $1-3. Maybe that’s the disconnect.
