Welcome to the Doxa fam! I am a little obsessed with Doxa and Cussler. The main focus of my collecting the past few years has been primarily Doxa. Recently I acquired my 5th, a Sub300 Searambler. If I had known this was coming out I definitely would have waited for it. Cussler's novels have become an important part of my life. I basically read them continuously back to back every series. It's super cool to hear that you are also a Clive Cussler fan. You will definitely enjoy the Sub300T and I guarantee that it will make you want more of them. I am hoping that later this year they will still be available.

You are on a winner here Mark. Firstly the concept of you buying a watch you don't retail but one that appeals and even fills a personal space. That's true collecting. Yes please keep doing this style of review as you acquire some incredible pieces. I agree with you on this watch, the aged look, the script, the nautical theme, its pure magic. May I suggest if you can acquire one of the 80 years of 'Dam Busters' watches currently being produced out of the UK? That story touched my life as a child having written a book review on the Lancaster squadron and the engineering feat of developing a bouncing bomb, spin backward to skip across the water and hit the Dam wall and sink to its base. Well done!

A great watch always has a great story, and this is a wonderful story. As a teacher myself, this kind of thing just warms the heart. I am so glad for you to be able to get and share something so meaningful to you. As far as reviews go, I would always be interested in what you have to say about watches that you don't sell as well. I think the primary focus always is on your business as it should be, but bringing in some interesting stuff from your collection or stuff that would temporarily be part of your collection would be neat too.

When I saw the dial I thought it was wrong as Dirk would only wear an orange dial but actually, it looks like an ancient treasure map which is more fitting for Clive and what he represents. If I want to look like Dirk then there are normal Doxa's. It's a really beautiful tribute to one of the best action/adventure writers around.

I'm also a huge fan of Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt! I started reading his books in the early 80's and absolutely loved them! I'm actually rereading them in order as we speak. I'm on Night Probe right now. I also saw this watch for sale a few days ago. I haven't pulled the trigger yet and bought it but I'm seriously considering it. There is a pretty cool Doxa video out on RU-vid for this watch with Clives son and a close associate talking about him and the origin of the Doxa watch in his books. If you haven't seen it you need to look it up.

My interest in watches began when I was a kid reading Dirk Pitt novels. Part Indiana Jones, part James Bond, with his orange-dialed Doxa a constant companion. A few years ago I finally managed to acquire my first Doxa, a Sub 200 with Mediterranean Blue dial. It's absolutely gorgeous, especially in the Summer sun, keeps great time, and the beads of rice bracelet is the most comfortable watch bracelet I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. An added bonus is wearing a storied brand which still slips beneath the radar of so many watch enthusiasts. I couldn't be more pleased, and am very excited to see Doxa getting some screen time on this channel!

Hey Marc -- great watch! I grew up with Dirk Pitt novels and wanted a Doxa sub since my early teens. Some years ago, my wife surprised me with a sub 750T Professional for my 40th birthday. Of all the divers in my collection, it not only remains my favorite, but is still my grail watch... Enjoy it, man -- great piece! BTW, looking forward to one of your Port Jeffs...

Wow. That dial and caseback are freaking awesome. It is a great watch in the standard edition. But that is version is so different, interesting and awesome. I am a huge reader as well. The most enjoyable unboxing video ever! Like you, I consumed Clive Cussler novel as a teen in the 70’s. Your personal story brought a smile to my face. I want this watch so badly now!

My dad was a fan of Clive Cussler and got me hooked on them as well. Raise the Titanic was the first of his books that I read when I was probably 12 or 13 and I've read almost all of them since. It's a brilliant looking watch. I'd love to get an orange 300T one day.

Along with my Islanders, I have a Doxa Sub1200T and a Doxa Sub200T. The first is Professional orange and the second Sharkhunter black. I just happen to be wearing my 1200 when I saw your video. My fascination with Doxa came about because of my reading Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels. And, my 1200 started my interest in watches. Thanks Clive Cussler, Dirk Pitt and you! Wow, just Wow. This is what I love about watches, the things and life events that make what you wear on your wrist take on a meaning that transcends itself as just an object. The whole package that this piece is, just works visually and practically, still a tool watch that is. What a piece! Congrats Marc, and awesome to see this from you, your opinions and ideas on watch design are a benchmark for me.

To me it’s not just about the watch, but the story behind it. The fact that you found a piece that combines your literary interests with your horological passions is awesome. Still not quite as cool as your concord mariner, but cool none the less.

I first discovered the Doxa brand one night while watching "Three Days of the Condor" with Robert Redford. His character had this GIANT timepiece on his wrist and I had to figure out what it was. Turned out, it was a Doxa Sharkhunter. Great looking pieces and yes, Mark if you do videos of other watches, it would be fantastic.

That's a nice story and a super package all round. Pretty cool no doubt about it. I used to read Clive Cussler as an infantry soldier back in the early 80's! I don't own a Doxa but think they're a great choice for anyone who doesn't want to spend bundles and wants an original and interesting choice that's somewhat off the beaten track.

Raising the Titanic was the first Clive Cussler book I read, and I've read almost all the books over the years, though I'm running a little behind on the ones written by authors continuing the franchise. Even though you sell real nice things - I definitely would like you to review more stuff than what you sell. Nice nugget of info about you in the video: Typing class! I finished a typing course in 2002 (Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing) and loved it! Helps me at work until this day.

I always thought that Doxa must be orange to be a real Doxa, but this is kinda special. Clearly not a utilitarian watch, but has a certain artisanal beauty.
