Lord help me I was a total ditz and forgot to mention that it does come with a HUGE table that can be safely hooked into the stand and machine to help support heavier items like quilts, jackets, etc. I have never embroidered anything that big, so I didn't even think of it! But it's YUGE. Most of the multi-needles I've ever used or researched come with a table, but this one is easily double the size. I'm really looking forward to diving in with this machine and making some sweet, sweet content. Also, here's the less industrial version of a 15-needle offered by Ricoma: ricoma.com/US/machine/1501-tc - Still has great features, same speed, etc. You can view a comparison of the two 15-needle products here: ricoma.com/US/product-category/embroidery/compare?compare=mt-1501%2C1501-tc

Omg I’m so excited for you. When I’m ready for a multi needle Ricoma seems the way to go. Thank you for sharing the fun. Speedy recovery for your injury. 🎉

Yooo congrats!! Ma'am please don't stress yourself too much while you wait for surgery! WELCOME TO THE 10+ NEEDLE CLUB! My Melco has 16 - and I need a step ladder to fully reach the threads comfortably. It doesn't quite look as industrial as yours though LOL (and I hook it up to a computer, since there's no screen on the machine itself). I am very jealous of the hat hoop. I still don't have one for mine, and I'm honestly looking at getting one of those "all in one" mighty hoops that includes a sleeve hoop option, since it does fit the Melco. My hoop space only goes up to like, 16x16 inches, and I'd love to do larger though. I didn't discover the joy of Madeira thread until my Melco, and I have all of their thread charts now. Another bonus with them - their sample cards also let you know the Pantone color that corresponds! So for brands/companies that have specific color branding they can make sure they match. (I used to use RA, which is okay but Melco has definitely been better and offers more options).

Thank you for unboxing the RICOMA MT-1501. Question: Are you saying the machine is to heavy to be on the second floor of a home? Should it remain on the first floor only? Thank you.

I felt with everything else in this small room yeah, it would have been a bit too much in one area. The TC-1501 would have been fine up here though! To be honest, I'm glad I put it in the workshop and not in my office. It's nice to have its own space, and I can embroider after the kids go to bed. I couldn't do that before.

Congrats on getting your new machine. You will love it!! I have the Ricoma SWD-1501 and it is awesome. It is a process in getting to know the machine but I have really enjoyed the journey. Happy stitching!!!! 😊

Medeira thread is fabulous _ I use it exclusively and the medeira magnetic prewound bobbins are the best . I like them because you don't have to think to load them and they never jam up machine. Congratulations! Enjoy your new toy and get better soon!

Really? I haven't had any issues yet (*knocks on wood*). I did over 100 hats and beanies for a charity a few months ago. All consistent results except when I didn't realize I should probably change needles LOL! I'm so bad about needle changing. Sorry you haven't had a good experience :(
@kathyg.8226
@kathyg.8226 Год назад
You are short like me. You'll want to be able to get to both sides of the machine. LOL couldn't tell if you had room between the shelf and machine. For when you have to connect the thread to the pre-threaded. Also when you have to change thread or if you may have to rethread from the spool. Of course maybe you know all this lol. But thought I'd share in case.
@fiercekittenz
@fiercekittenz Год назад
I threaded it last night. I have a stepping stool that I use to get to the way back spools. I have to do this for my other machine too. Short people unite!

@@fiercekittenz I just saw you responded. I hope you've had your class by now. And are enjoying your machine! My tension is messed up lol. I played with it some. But gave up. I really need to attempt it again. And do the oil thing. So many areas! LOL.

OMG! How did you break your hip?
@fiercekittenz
@fiercekittenz Год назад
I have osteoarthritis and all it took was one more jog or lifting too much in the garage to make it snap. I had several microfractures in my hip joint when they took the xray. I didn't have those on the xray back in December, before my marathon.

That is way industrial! My very-proper British mum used to say, "Horses sweat, gentlemen perspire and ladies GLOW." But I think I may switch that up to "glistening!" You're hobbling well for a broken hip--OMG!
@fiercekittenz
@fiercekittenz Год назад
Oh, I was glowing alright. It was HOT in the garage - though we do have a portable AC unit to put in for later! The hip isn't as bad as it looks, though I do get tired and need pain meds in the evenings.

@fiercekittenz
@fiercekittenz Год назад
You know, that's always a hard one. It really depends on budget. Definitely start with a single needle and see if you like it first. Most of the low budget ones only do 4" x 4" and I got really into it fast and felt the urge to upgrade within a month.

That is one INTENSE looking machine! I've been hoping to get in to machine embroidery, the only thing holding me back is the lack of capital (them puppies ain't cheap!). Looking forward to seeing what you make with that. And what the heck did you do that broke your hip?!?! You're as accident prone as I am LOL
@fiercekittenz
@fiercekittenz Год назад
Oh no, I have arthritis and all it took was a little exertion working in the garage to make a few places snap :(
@fiercekittenz

Also, not to be an enabler for debt, but you can actually get 0% interest financing on a lot of machines! That's how I was able to grab my other one (which I'm likely going to sell as I do NOT need multiple machines........ I don't think........).

hopping in as a small business owner! I started exclusively with embroidery :D originally I had one sewing/embroidery machine combo (Viking) and it was great - for a couple of years. If you're starting small then I think a single needle one is okay but honestly I will never look back after getting my industrial machine. I got mine third hand, and still get support from the manufacturer (Melco)! So even if you can't buy new new, be on the look out for a deal
