If you have two lenses, I would definitely go with a 35 & 85. If you only have one, I would go with a 50. But that's based on my shooting style. I have a 50mm for all my cameras. The only camera I have multiple lenses for is my digital camera (Fuji XT3). For that, I have the XF 16-55mm and the 35mm F2. Though, I may switch the 35 out for the 50mm f1 at some point. I don't like zoom lenses, but I also don't like carrying 5 lenses and multiple cameras, so that's my compromise.

Great Video! I normally use my RF 50mm 1.2 for portrait sessions now. I still have my 85mm 1.4 but I'm able to get a lot done with just the 50. I use my Canon Camera for portraits mainly so I have 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 24-105 F4 L.

Good review. I enjoyed watching the actual unboxing. Can you give an update on one point please . How is the manual focussing on this lens?

I used to regard the 35mm as the optimal focal length, but now I consider something in the 40-45mm range as most pleasing to my eye. And the 28 lately is getting a lot of use and appreciation. Regardless, that lens looks like a good one. I have only one Sigma lens, a 28mm f1.8 DG Aspherical lens, the version with the 58mm filter thread, and it's a great lens, very sharp even wide-open, which autofocuses very quickly and accurately. It's only flaw that I can see is some chromatic aberration.

28mm is the most versatile lens IMO, 35mm + is too tight in many scenarios for my taste

Yo! I’m looking to get into Street Photography but idk what camera to get. Mainly want to do colorized portraits and candies. What camera and lens should I get for a beginner but also still shoots great pictures. Was looking at the Canon F1. Love the videos man

King , Years ago I own a Sigma but it was a 24mm manual focus for a Nikon F mount, and use it alot, however when I took it to Japan in 1985 that the aperture pin was not working, and I took it to my repair guy that he told that the lens was BER, as he seen this problem before on Sigma, when in that that I save up to get a 24mm Nikkor instead, and to this day I still have the lens, and NEVER want to get a Sigma Lens EVER. Even though when I was working at the camera store that I have seen that our rental department had Sigma lenses to rent, and most of them went to the shop. They stop renting this line, and got Nikkor, and Canon lenses instead... Have fun...No Offense I think your videos are great...

I watched a video on the new Tamron 28-200mm superzoom yesterday, and while it looked really good , I would never consider buying a Tamron lens for a similar reason. Back in film days, I bought a Tamron superzoom for a trip to Thailand at the local camera store. When I saw how soft the pictures were after I got them printed, I knew I would never get another Tamron lens. The silver lining was that I was able to trade it back to the shop for an SMC Takumar 85mm f1.8 in mint condition and maybe a 50mm f1.4 SMC as well.

Can’t beat Nikon, canon or Sony glass. Never liked the new range of lenses from sigma. To clinical. To sharp. Their older lenses, even though they were a gamble on if you got a good copy, had soul.
