Yeah, so the soviet fighter-jet turns out to be a czechoslovak sub-sonic training jet...but it's still awesome, had a plastic model of the aero l-29 dolphin and the l-39 albatros...I definitely appreciate the enthusiasm in keeping our (czech and slovak) history alive!

@@jaratt85 Just small correction, Khazachstan or Ukraine were soviet, Czechoslovakia was under rule of communist party and was member of Warszaw pact (anti-NATO) but it definitely was not part of USSR...its like if you say Panama is a federal state of the USA... The Czechs also developed an L-159 Alca but as an attack fighter (sub-sonic!) in the 90s and never used any of them...shame they didn't put them on commercial market, it would be interestning given the popularity of the L-39...
@theDolTom
@theDolTom Год назад
@@jaratt85 eh...you just proved me right and wrote I'm wrong...dude, I live here, I know the history of my country...you wrote it was soviet - that would men a part of soviet union...Moscow at that time dictated to (at least on paper) a lot in the means of economic focus, thats why only USSR coul develop and produce supersonic fighters, main battle tanks, heavy class trains, etc. The hierarchy was fixed, countries like east Germany, Poland were allowed to produce cars like Trabant, light helicopters like Mil Mi2, but the biggest and heaviest and most modern technology were permitted to be build in USSR only...

Good that you had Shane and the guys who know L-39s and have the right tools and fixtures help assemble your L-39. I have visited them several times. Hope you got all the factory bolts which are special bolts. I have assembled lots of L-29s but not L-39s. One of the L-29s I used to own is at Gadsen AL now I think. Have someone who really knows those L-39 engines do an internal engine inspection before flying it much. Several friends with L-39 have had problems with L-39 engines. One friend had his engine blow up on the ramp. Another friend was killed when his blew on takeoff. Inspect them every 500 hours. Do not believe the people who say they do not need that. That runway (18-36) at Huntsville is like 12,000 feet long. Atlas Air operates there for the Intermodal cargo depot. I used to live a half mile south of 18 and could hear/see all the aircraft on final. I would take my boys up to the roof and we would lie on a blanket and watch all the planes land. My wife thought we were nuts, but it's like camping in the backyard. You get to experience things without too much danger or hassle. If you're in your own backyard and it get's too cold, just go inside. Plane watching when you're directly under them and close is a unique vantage.

I flew gliders. One of my instructors briefed us on wearing parachutes. He had experience bailing out. He had become a test pilot after WWII. One- don’t imagine that your aircraft will be straight and level. You don’t need to bail out of such a situation, most usually. You may have G forces holding you in. You may have G forces flinging you out. With this in mind have a detailed egress plan. Practice it as best you can, often.

To be clear: In 1967, the Warsaw Pact announced a tender for a subsonic training aircraft. (Warsaw Pact - the opposite pole of NATO whose members were: USSR, Poland, Hungary, GDR, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Czechoslovakia). The tender was attended by: USSR, Poland, Czechoslovakia and I think also GDR. The competition was won by Czechoslovakia with the L39 Albatros, which was designed, designed and constructed by engineer Vlček and his team from the Research and Test Aviation Institute in Prague - Letňany, str..Beranových 64. The L39 Albatros was the successor to the L29 Delfín, also entirely designed in Prague under led by Ing. Wolf. The aircraft was produced in the following factories: Aero in the town of Vodochody, approx. 30 km from Prague, Motorlet Praha-Jinonice and the Rudý Letov factory in Letňany, 35 Beranových Street, Prague. Part of the project was also the production of flight TL 39 and catapult NKTL 29-39 trainers. For example, 372 NKTL 29-39 trainers were produced. L39 aircraft of various versions were produced approx. 100 pieces per year and exported to all countries of the Warsaw Pact, including the USSR! (except for Poland, which did not lose the tender.) but also to other socialist countries and also to so-called friendly countries such as: Iraq, Libya ... and of course to China. The L39 was produced modernized until 2004, I think. After 1989, US companies also took part in the modernization. The production of aircraft continues in AERO Vodochody until today - L39 NG, L159... Customers are also US companies providing service to the US army during the training of military pilots . The whole project is Czech and has nothing to do with Russia, the USSR or the RF. The Czechs are understandably very proud of the production of these aircraft, considering that only 9-10 countries in the world produce jet fighters of their own design. Czechoslovak industry also participated in the development and production of Russian space technology. For this share, Czechoslovakia was rewarded by sending Vladimír Remek into space, and thanks to this, Czechoslovakia was the third country in the world to send a man into space. That's all. Greetings from a former employee of Rudý Letov n.p. later Letov a.s. I worked on the production of the NKTL 29-39 wing and trainer.
