This figure is so bad, yet so good. Sculp and body are horrendous. The jacket does fall apart, peeling anyway. That said, lots of great parts that can be resused on a high end bash.
A great video @blackopstoys and hello to everyone here as fans of 1:6 collecting and great classic movies. So after many years of missing out on Indy I finally stumbled across a loose gently used 2008 Sideshow Raiders Indy at a very reasonable price and I have to say I’m impressed so far with what I’m reading and seeing. Definitely😊 a great base for a kit bash Indy and IMO a better option than paying big bucks for the Hottoys DX05. So anyway I’m very content with his included accessories as I can see(eBay seller hasn’t mailed yet lol)and clothing and shoes and hat. However regarding the body and head(although I don’t hate that sculpt) I really could use some guidance on what to buy or look for. Such as a brand or size to look for or what Third party or custom head sculpt anybody would recommend. Thank you in advance and I’m so excited to finally add an Indiana Jones to my collection “Give me the whip!” 😊
The idol is the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol. The revolver is most likely the Smith and Wesson 1917 that was cut down to a 4 inch barrel from a 6 inch that Indy has in the beginning of Raiders that Belloq takes. Later Indy uses a Smith and Wesson MK II hand eject revolver. The Semi Auto pistol is a Browning Hi-Power. The Browning Hi-Power was released in 1935 made in Belgium so the likelyhood of Indy actually having one is pretty slim seeing as the movie takes place in 1936. Indy was originally going to be shown with a Colt 1911 but at the time of filming .45 ACP blanks were harder to work with then 9MM blanks so the Hi-Power was used.
The accessories for this Indiana Jones are not bad & I feel that the whip, pistol & satchel are of a higher quality compared to medicoms version. The extra head & hat gives you the option to kitbash a Proffesor Jones or a German Disguise Indiana Jones. I have a Medicom Indiana Jones from Raiders Of The Lost Ark & I did a body swap wich came out great. The Medicom jacket & whip does flake over time & I belive that Sideshow did a better job on them. The Sideshow Crystal Skull Indiana Jones is good option to go with, since the quality control was better on that figure. A very talented artist named Ron Hemble has made some fantastic custom Indiana Jones figures with dioramas in 12", 7" and 3" scale. He often uses the Sideshow Raiders Indiana Jones figures for different projects.
