@@41moose I couldn't disagree more. There's a whole generation of people that have never heard of the beach boys. This would make a great gift for them. Or for someone that only has a few albums but wants the entire collection. I think it's a great idea. Of course I agree with the cash cow because everything so expensive today and I'm sure it's very overpriced. But for those who want to spend that kind of money it's a good intro into music you've never heard before.

I know right lol they can’t stop putting them out. Like one a year it seems. The Beatles have like 3 greatest hits albums each with have entirely different tracklists

It comes from an album called "Surf's Up" which is one of their all time best records

Wow really the Boys were more than a Surf band bud... Do some digging it may surprise you.. Past All Summer Long they tried to get away from that Surf/Car clique. Yeah the early stuff is good, but after 1966 it gets better! Top favorite band of all time.. Great comp too. I ignore the ney sayers with cloth ears.

Considering you can get the beach boys albums cut from all analog masters through acoustic sounds faithful recreations of the original jackets and incredible sound quality I'd rather have those than a greatst hits comp for the same amount of money

Hey, come on! How else is Mike Love and his 8 childr- I-I-I mean the "Beach Boys" going to keep gettin' gettin' gettin'! The children have to fund their own careers somehow. Also, TOURING with his slav- I MEAN SONS. W-WAIT, I MEAN BOYS! It means very goooooood practice for them.

Agreed, no point in picking it up if it doesn't sound good.

It's good if you aren't over 50. Too many complaints on the new mixes. I love it!

@@danerd8978 So everybody that complained posted there age? Odd. I have Endless Summer on vinyl from 73. Countless reissued of there 60's and 70's albums on cd. Greatest hits. Box sets. Definitely not buying more of the same stuff over for a new mix.

7digital offers demos of their digital content. Their samples are from the actual albums. In other words, if you play "California Girls" from a specific album, you will hear it from that album. They sell mp3 files and flac files. Their demos are always mp3 files. I downloaded 23 of their demo, mp3 files, and played them on my home stereo, which is good enough to reveal the subtleties in sound quality. And although these are mp3 files, they are a strong indicator of what the flac files sound like (which you can hear, only if you purchase the songs). This is my verdict: 1) Everything is pushed forward. The voices and the instruments are sort of "in your face", vying for your attention. Not terribly so, but unnaturally so. Rather than you sitting there and you choosing which voice or which instrument to focus on, the studio has made that choice for you. 2) The bass is emphasized, too much for my liking. For example: Rather than increasing the gain on Brian Wilson's bass guitar, to hear it better, they used an equalizer that adds oomph to the entire bottom end of the sound-field, making it sound unnatural; contrived. That equalizer changes the shape of the guitar's texture. Notes are just not realistic. Yes, you can clearly hear the notes. But you can clearly hear that the notes are not tight and not true. 3) The soundstage is not wide. Some songs extend beyond the width of the speakers, but not by much. You cannot identify the position of any instruments or voices in the sound-field, with any level of specificity, due to congestion from unnecessary over-processing in the studio. You can identify their general location, and that's where it ends. On a sound-quality scale of 1 to 10 (ten being the best), I rate the sound quality a 5 (on average). Below a 5, I deem the song to be unlistenable. But I am more critical than most folks. And if I were to rate the sound quality higher, then I would be doing an injustice to other albums that earned a 6, 7, 8, or so rating (I rate nothing a 10, because I never heard anything that is perfect). I will not be purchasing this album-set. If I were to receive it as a gift, I would probably try a few songs, and not play them through, due to their studio enhanced gimmickry. I seek out songs that sound authentic. My highest complement to the studio engineers is when I hear none of their work; when the band sounds so real, you never realize that the studio's engineers made that happen. Alas, whoever mixed and mastered this album-set was sure to communicate their sonic signature; were sure to let you know that they processed, and over-processed the songs. Some people will like how it sounds. I suspect that they never heard how startlingly real it could, and should, sound. I say: Shame on the studio personnel for doing a disservice to the hard work and talent of the artists. Rather than bringing the sonic art of the band to their fans, the studio personnel inserted themselves into the formula, to draw attention to themselves. Not good. Maybe the vinyl has different mixing and mastering and sounds great? But I doubt it.

A record release would be awesome but sadly no one seems to acknowledge that album. This is the first time I’ve seen it anywhere though.
