@@AutumnBeckman not as much as Coach. I don’t like the material interior but there’s not much we can do. The Tags you found you are used to register your purses. I’m not sure if that’s still available because I have only purchased vintage that I’ve found.
@@AutumnBeckmanI started buying the bags like 30 years ago. Excellent quality. Also, not sure if they still do it but you can turn in a bag and if they can't repair it they will give you half credit of the bag towards a new one. You have the All weather leather 2 Duck Bag in Navy. Those are the numbers and letters on the flap. The number on the paper tag is the Serial number. That strap doesn't belong on that bag!!
@@AutumnBeckman I think every brand has cut corners a bit, but I have actually stopped buying Coach. I find that Dooney’s leather and craftsmanship is extremely consistent. I’m not crazy about all of their styles, but the bags that I have, I really love.
Good to know. People have asked me about Dooney over the years but I'm just now dipping my toes in the water. They seem to have a pretty loyal following.
My husband bought me my first one in 1986(still have it). As I said I’ve tried other brands but I truly feel like Dooney is as consistent today as it was then and the Florentine leather is top of the line.😊
Welcome (again) to Dooney and Bourke, my favorite brand! You are absolutely right about the alien strap. That inner pocket is leather. In the vintage Dooneys from that period they always are.
I bought this bag when it first came out because I loved the giant duck. But I never carried it because it’s too small. I bought my first Dooney in 1975.
I haven't seen the new lining in person but I'm surprised at the color choice for this bag since it doesn't match any of the leather colors this bag is offered in.
It’s beautiful, Autumn! Original AWL is such high quality leather, and the Big Duck bags are a vibe. I agree with you about the new lining, kind of ruins the bag.
I have a wee pink & tan Dooney & Bourke duck bag which is a slightly different style in that it has a top handle & a postman’s style lock on the front. I bought the bag on holiday in Florida I think around 2008, I’m still using it & it still looks amazing! 🦆
I'm old enough to remember when people carried those bags. So cute! Agree that the strap doesn't look right. When I saw the title I thought for sure this was going to be a Henry's bag! xoxo
I'm definitely not a fan of the new lining, especially the color. A beige interior would have been fine but it looks pink on the website and doesn't go with the any of the colors in which the bag is offered.
Vintage D&B is probably my favorite purse brand. I have and have had a lot of them. They’re affordable and the quality is unmatched by any other luxury purse brand. I find them at thrift stores all the time for almost nothing.
I just ordered a duck back from the website they went on sale for Mother’s Day and if you signed for email you get a welcome 10 percent off. After tax I only paid $149
So random! Been following you for years and I JUST sent this bag in my family group chat.. you haven’t been on my feed for some reason and then today I saw this video 😅 is it a sign?
This is so cute! It has the right look for Oregon, in my opinion, it’s all weather leather so it will be great in wet weather with a treated strap, and it has that outdoors-sporty look.
I wore it the first day my mom was here when we saw the sea lions and when I fell on the coastal hike. It rained much of that day and the bag is no worse for it. I was impressed.
@@AutumnBeckmanI worked in department store late 80s and we had a representative from Dooney and Bourke, he had bucket of water and then he submerged the bag to show the customers that the bags were indestructible
My first job I sold these bags, sadly it was the worst kind of customer I’ve ever had the unpleasure to come across. Left we with a bad taste in my mouth for people who felt there superior just because they had a credit card to purchase one. Almost all the purchases were credit card rarely debit and almost never cash. All that to say it’s just left me hating that bag lol, bad memories. Be kind people it’s not so hard.
I have bought DB since 1976 and I have never seen a strap like that on any of their bags. I have bought too many to count over the years. And there are a lot of knock off in the day.
Well we all know I absolutely love Vintage Dooney and new Dooney and all Dooney 😆 Welcome back to the Dooney world. Great Find Autumn I have the newer version which I scored in February for a great buy like $98 I think 🤔. I also have several vintage Duck coin purses that sit along side of it. I use it as a bag. Or in a bag in a bag. It’s one of my favorites. I think 🤔 that was like my second video. I’m glad you discovered it wasn’t the correct strap. I’d ask for a discount if it wasn’t disclosed that is not cool at all of seller. Thanks for sharing a great find. 👛🚢🛍️🦆🙏
Nice! That combo is my favorite I have 4 bags in that combo - doctors satchel, similar bag to yours with a much smaller logo, a hobo bag, a trapezoid one and a few more with white and vachetta- their all weather leather is amazing- I always use it when it rains. That bag will look just as good in 20 yrs. There is a pocket in the back for your keys or phone. Mine are 30+ years and they look new. The original tan strap works well on patina Louis Vuitton’s
I mostly buy Dooney. Have for over 30 years. They are excellent quality and last forever. I like it much better than Coach. I do have to be careful sometimes because some bags can be quite heavy.
I love Dooney & Bourke.🥰 We don’t have any stores in Canada that I’m aware of so I have to wait until I visit Florida again. They had some great outlets that I’ve bought some slgs that I love. My prized possession is my one I got from Disney World. I would definitely add more to my collection as I love the designs, colours and quality of this brand. Forgot to say that your bag is adorable.🥰😊
Hi Autumn! Nice unboxing! So glad you got this one! I always saw the one Ed has while watching his videos sitting on his shelf wanting to know more about it! Dooney is one of the best and I also got into purses about 20 years ago because of my love for D&B. Enjoy the bag! 💙👜✨
I’ve never been into Dooney & Burke but friends of mine have loved them for years. I did hear they started doing some manufacturing in China and the quality wasn’t as good as the US made ones. I was into Gucci & Fendi years ago so I didn’t pay much attention to D&B. That is a very cute bag though and now I might want one lol!
OMG!!! I remember these from the 90's! Some of the wealthier girls at school carried these. Grab your Cole Haan loafers & it'll be a whole vibe. 😊 Seems like a great bag for quick errands or being hands free.
Hi Autumn, honey. I've been slowly contemplating Dooney and Burkes. I've never seen one live, but they look weighty to carry. But I'd love to see one in the real. 🌟🤩🌟
So that bag was my very first nice handbag ever. I think it could be at least 40 years old. I bought mine with my own money and thought I was so fancy. I also was able to get my initials engraved on the brass duck that hangs from the bag. What great memories … I still love Dooney. There are some bags that are leather lined and have a trim of green suede on the inside. (Florentine leather) I feel like those are my current favorite styles. I also owned a red tote that I treated like a newborn baby. I had it for years. Unfortunately over time the red started to fade and discolor, but everything else looked great. The leather was a solid red pebbled leather and the bag was lined with the blue & white stripe fabric. It did have the gold feet at the bottom as well. I have recently owned two other Dooney bags, a small pebbled leather domed satchel and a small Florentine leather satchel. I love the look and feel of a good Dooney bag…❤❤❤
I have many vintage and current Dooney and Bourke bags, they are all quality bags. Not only are the leather bags amazing their nylon bags are beautiful and pretty much indestructible.
Check out the Dooney Florentine Satchel, many sizes and colors, it is an AMAZING bag! I am so shocked you have never had any Dooney pieces before especially given your love of vintage Coach!
I found the mini to be a good size, it is definitely a heavier bag, but so glorious…. One of mine does scratch, but the oils from your hands buffs them right out and the patina is gorgeous.
That's the bag I always wanted! Wrong strap, I think some of my straps have Rooney on it. Yes, the duck is my favorite also!!!! Keep repeating dress your bag, need some straps.
I finally found a strap from them that I already had and is a darkened vachetta that goes very well with this bag. At the time I'd filmed this I still had a lot of things packed so didn't have access to it then (didn't know it came with such a terrible strap so didn't know I'd need another one!).
I have always loved Dooney and Bourke bags. That definitely isn't an original strap. I've never seen that kind of clamp on it. Cute bag, though. I love my DBs. They led me to my bag obsession a very long time ago. Lol
I have that duck bag too in the same color. and I bought mine at Nordstrom over twenty years ago. I think I paid $135 at the time. When I carried it I carried my phone (they were thick in the late 90s), a few dollars, driver’s license and my keys. I had to make compromises. Then I also started carrying a work bag so it wasn’t too bad. It’s been visibly hanging in my closet for over 15 years. I have never considered giving her up.
It’s a dark navy blue, almost looks black. But I have a black duck coin purse about the same age and putting the two next to each other the purse is definitely navy.
It's Autumn, not Amber. ;) Yes, that's the Teddy Blake Bella bag. I love it. I also have a larger one in black and the Chiara bag in light blue moc croc.
I bought Dooney for years. Probably the first "expensive" bags I bought. I still have some vintage all weather leather ones, and a Dooney commorative satchel ( kind of like a Speedy) that was made a few years ago. Also have two of their Florentine satchels. Beautiful bags! Dooney bags tend to be heavy though. I may have more, they're in dust bags and I haven't carried Dooney in quite a while. They are beautiful bags though.
I'll probably end up with more Dooney. Time will tell. I've always loved the Florentine satchel but never picked it up because of the weight. Plus the ones I saw in stores were pretty scratched. In your experience, is that normal? Do the scratches just add character and ultimately make the bag look better?
Love the smaller vintage Dooney. It would be great for work to put in larger bags necessary to carry other items. Florentine can show scratches but usually if not too deep, can successfully be buffed or rubbed out. I have two Florentines; 1 is Dove Grey, the other a Winter White. There are currently no scratches visible that I can discern. One is a satchel, the other a smaller bag, so they are not too heavy for me. The larger bags can be beautiful, but personally too big or heavy for me. I'm 5ft nothing @@AutumnBeckman
Dooney & Burke my favorite brand! Got it right! Yeah Wrong strap, it’s the vaschetta strap. (Sorry for the spelling) Look at the label with Dooney & Burke it should have numbers. The interior looks great. It’s all BRASS GREAT PURCHASE LOVE THE BAG all my Dooney & Burke collection was stolen several years ago when I moved; still punches at the heart. I’m starting to repurchase from other sites, vintage bags.
@@AutumnBeckman it was awful! I had them in totes like you but my ex-hubby had them and next day they are all gone. The people broke into the home via a rear window. They just wanted to make a mess plus they injured my heart.
