I thought the same! Except I was a teacher in a school and had ordered a set of 30 to trial in a Grade 8 classroom. I think I might have been one of the first in the world to use iPads en masse for education. Fun days!

Sometimes I feel bad about the fact I'm getting older and older and having "I'm old" moments, but I take solace in the fact that everyone younger than me will have to go through this phase of their life eventually. I just happen to be a bit further along in this race than them.

@@talvisota327 it's running on 5.1.1 non-jailbroken, facebook and mails and stuff works without any issues, the tablet experience is smooth but yeah Safari mostly crashes due to websites having more and more content/ressources needed. On the other end, my mom mostly used it to read, especially because it would have battery for almost 1,5 / 2 weeks

I just replaced mine a year ago, and that because it was beginning to fail in operation. Pretty good value for money.

Why would you buy a first gen to use? They’re just collectors items now.

Watching this on a 16GB iPad Air 1. It’s not bad, but the latest version of RU-vid doesn’t support iOS 12. I have had a constant war with storage issues for basically as long as I’ve had it, so 4 years. I got it because my first gen iPad mini suddenly popped up with Activation Required, i was unsuccessful in getting past the iCloud lock. The battery is slightly above average, but it can get pretty hot on the back, but not like my 6s+. You could probably fry an egg on the back of that thing if you had been playing Minecraft while it was charging. The battery on there is gutter trash, you could play a game at 100%, half an hour later, if even that, it would give you a low battery alert. The battery health is 78%, so it actually does need to be replaced. Back to the iPad Air, well, I actually had to have the screen replaced because I dropped the iPad onto concrete and it completely shattered everywhere. There was even a hole in the top near the front facing camera. I still have the sticker of my iPad model from when it was replaced. But I think, there was a long term symptom: dead pixels. I first noticed two in fairly close proximity to each other. Now i think theres one by the number that tells you your battery life left. I think some more might have appeared over time. Theres also plenty of other impurities and scuffs, scratches, and little dents. This iPad has been through a lot. It still works pretty well. iOS 12 runs decently. It’s tough to wager whether iOS 13 would be the same. You could probably install ios 13 on here if you jailbreak, which I unsuccessfully tried to do. Hopefully it wouldn’t be a matter of stuff like ipod 4 ios 7: it just freaks out and enters dfu mode. It takes just a small amount of nagging to get it charging. It takes forever to charge. But you should be okay if you don’t use it all the time like I’m guilty of doing. It should last the day or two with little issue. If you’re using this thing, I’d recommend putting it on airplane mode 24/7 (you can still have WiFi enabled with airplane mode on.) Putting it on airplane mode makes it charge twice as fast. I read that and it was for phones, but iPads probably do the same thing. Long comment again.
