Waiting on mine to get delivered today. Spent $799.00 plus Uncle Sam's cut. Regarding your experience with the local guitar shop, I have the same recent experience with huge Guitar Center nearby. They have tons of employees and decent traffic but they socialize and clown around too much. Same exact thing. The Epiphone Iommi SG was way up high. I asked to look at it and the sales rep sure, "give me a sec" Immediately after a new customer came in and he attended to that person, took a few phone calls and helped yet another customer. 15-20 minutes and then 7:00 hit and it was like "We are closed please checkout or say good bye" lol. I went home and immediately ordered it from AMS and arriving today. I also went to a Mom and Pop to pick up a new acoustic. They lost about $2500 in around 20 minutes. Right now I am just sitting here like a dog staring out the window at pesky squirrel or in my case UPS!

I bought an Epiphone SG Standard. In Toni Cherry (!) P90's or PF Fliers, it's having been built in October 1997? 26 years old, and still looks great! Detuned it to D Standard (D-G-C-F-A-D, and playing the main riffs from Loser (BS 13), I can tell I'm close to Toni's tune for his wide-open sound. Wanted a couple songs ready for Halloween tomorrow, but si'est la vie'...

I had the same experience in Sam Ash. It’s really close to me so I saw online they had the amp I wanted in stock. I find the amp myself and there’s only 1 on the floor still in the box so I went to the front counters and waited 5mins between 2 people playing on their phones before one of them looked up and asked if I needed something. I was also the only customer in the store. I bought my first guitar there a few months prior and the manager was very helpful so I left it with them do a setup and wanted new 9g strings put on but the guy didn’t write down the gauge I find out later. I wait a month to get it back and I see they didn’t change them and the tech says “oh, the paperwork says new strings but no gauge so I didn’t change them”. My phone # and email were right on the same paperwork.

That happened to me at GC, maybe I don't look like I have 5 G's in my pocket. But I do. I wanted a ESP 1000 in Cherry with Fishman Fluence pickups. Treated me like I had Leprosy. Ended buying online.

i got one myself brother.is it not a kick a** guitar.the first one zzounds sent me was broke in the neck to body joint and no monkey sticker but i sent it back for another one and i finally got a unbroken one,but the first one had a better look to the wood but the second one has better soul to it.i got a killer epiphone firebird as well from zzounds.i love that store

Yep Gibson SG standards now have soft cases. It's a nice soft case , but not that wow factor. It's disappointing for sure.

I’m gonna get flamed here .. I love Epiphone and of course Tony iommi but this guitar is very cheap looking in person. I bought it online and sent it back. I wasn’t impressed for 1k price tag at all. The finish and color gave it a cheap glossy look to it. Almost looked like a toy . I was really disappointed. The p90 pickups were not that great as well. If your gonna buy it see it in person first. I ended up buying a worn cherry sg g400 pro and upgrading the pickups to arcane p90 doom pickups. In my opinion I’d would have kept the guitar if it was in the 500$ price range. Im not trying to be a jerk just trying to save someone from disappointment.

I totally respect your opinion, but my view was the opposite. The finish was outstanding, and the tone was incredible. It blew my new Gibson SG standard out of the water. Perhaps you received a bad one. It happens. Heres my tone running through a Catalyst 200 amp. It was totally Sabbath, in my opinion. I am on the same page. I just know they are the only game in town and, people have nowhere else to go. It's a fine line. I can tell you that they are in Watertown NY. Some people love them. However, most of those people are the friends of the owner, so very biased. They need some competition. Then things would change.

The epiphone Tony Iommi model is nowhere near the actual model other than being an SG. Olus buying guutars off the wall in a guitar store is like buying used IMO cause everyone has played it already.
