Ive used and fitted Pulsar turbos to my own and customers/friends cars for 2 years now, to date i havent seen a failure, they work very well! only ctiticism i have is the vee band clamps are not quite upto the job so i use Garrett clamps now

I’ve heard many people use Pulsar turbos and they have nothing bad to say in fact I’ve heard many actually prefer them over other brands it’ll be interesting to see how you guys go. I know they expensive but you should of gone electronic waste gate much easier to control boost. Also get the turbo ceramicoated or whatever they call it in black, not only it’ll look better but it reduces heat and you’ll need as much heat protection as you can get.

Love that you are going Pulsar. Finally someone with a similar setup that will put a bunch of information online. Been thinking of gtx3582r gen2 or g35-900 for my n54 v band manifold. Just a random ebay gtx3582r now. Been also thinking of a genuine g35-900 as a new one is ”only” double of a pulsar g35-900.

I went with a gtx3582r gen 2 from pulsar, because I couldn't find anyone saying anything bad about them. I did however go with the .083 vband that pulsar offers, for a little more compact package , and hopefully a slightly faster spool. I'm shooting for 550whp on pump gas, but on a home built manifold. Also didn't feel like rolling the dice like you guys with the wastegates so I went with one of the summit brand turbosmart style 50mms. All my parts are ordered, hopefully start building everything next week :)

The turbo itself is great value but I'm not sure the single setup can be called inexpensive when it's the most expensive single kit ever to come to market got the N54!

Vht flame proof for the paint. Just follow the directions for baking it on in an oven. For the price, just have an extra turbo laying around for a quick swap

For compressor housings I prefer powder coat or cerakote......Normal paint I find doesn't hold up well in an engine bay

I'm pretty sure the reason you're having that weird lighting when you're in the shop is because of the frequency of the actual bulbs. Not sure if changing the bulbs would help, but changing the camera's shutter speed definitely would. Changing the shutter speed could give you other, possibly worse, issues though. Love the videos!

Either record at 100fps and render the footage at 60fps, or record at 50hz and render at 50fps but sacrificing the smoothness.

I've run the Pulsar turbo's in my car and it was the GTX3076r gen 2 and I got a faulty one...I ended up contacting Pulsar Australia and after some back and forth messages and a few pictures and video they had one out to me within 14days. the issue with mine was it had issues with allowing oil to get past the seals and end up coating the inside of the exhaust housing in oil! which resulted in alot of smoke. from what i have heard these apparently hardly break and I was unlucky but I can't fault Pulsar Australia's customer service. In saying that though the GTX3076r Gen2 with the Vband in/out did NOT perform the same as a genuine garret and from the graph's we compared with the tuner could see it was laggier and didn't spool as well as the genuine product. from conversations that were had with Garrett reps during WTAC they explained that some of the differences are also in the rear exhaust housing as well as blade materials and parts used along with ALOT more other bits that i forgot now, I have since decided to sell my pulsar kit though and ended up buying a genuine garrett G25 series. so will see how that goes! I should explain though that I am also currently building a forged engine and given the cost of the build I wanted something genuine to make sure that my failure points are as limited as possible! I do wish you all the best though but don't expect to get the same response/performance out of a pulsar as you would a Garrett.

I tried to touch on it in the vid but they are not forever turbos that’s for sure. I have no doubts different materials would have been used which will lead to different rotating assembly weights and then spool. But hopefully these will do for initial testing and playing.

I like the setup ive been looking at cheap single turbo kits so this right here is giving me ideas honestly in routing for your success with this because i wanna pretty much replicate your build with no port injection just e85 and a spool helix 4times hpfp kit and switch to jb4 with aback end flash for custom tunes and then have the jb4 for its safety features really

I like the way you are thinking…… apart from the helix. China turbos can’t even stretch their legs with one of them. Not much point doing a single if you don’t want a strong fuel system. And a strong fuel system is so important to keeping the motors together.

@@ZeroTo60Tube i just dont like the idea of port injection the factory fuel injectors essentially have no limit at this point in time that helix overdrive pump and the stock injectors should serve more than enough fuel for even the power you were running before which is really where im trying to go with it but again keep up the good work you know what you’re doing

@@shanebroom9173 I don't know what to tell you other than i kind of speak to quite a lot of people about this, probably more than anyone else in the world about the N54 options. The only current "reliable" way to make over 600whp on a N54 is with port injection. A lot of people dont know, but vargas was doing upgrades to HPFP systems 7-8 years ago. His systems were a better engineered solution power wise, than the helix (using twin HPFPs, one normal pump and one over driven pump). The varags system meant you lost your ac, but it didn't put strain on the timing chains like helix and it was legitimately 2 HPFPs. So much more potential for fuel flow and pressure than Helix. However it didn't work long term, it would make ok power 700-800whp on a dyno but the injectors would fail a lot when ran hard at the track, (yes they definitely have a limit). Imagine getting 2 or 3 passes out of a set of index 12 injectors. It was bad when the injectors were cheap, it would be eye watering these days. The helix is a great solution if you are looking around 550whp on ethanol (apart from how much it makes the timing chains rattle), its much easier for new tuners to dial in (which is why a lot of facebook tuners like it and promote it, but you rarely see these tuners with actual fast cars promoting it), and less things for an installer to mess up. However like i said above you aren't even pushing china turbos at those levels. I think if you are going single, put a real fuel system in the car, actually i think if you are putting china turbos in, put a real fuel system in with port injection, or you are selling yourself short. DI is very limited at big power levels. The Mercedes injectors are the ones i see making the most power per cylinder. However still only around 115-125hp per cyl on customer cars (even the big power customer cars have Meth on top which takes strain off the DI). The latest generation of BMW DI injectors wont do that, let alone our horrific N54 ones. Oh also a little birdie told me BMW are bringing PI back on the next generation of engines. They will run DI and PI side by side, like Lamborghini have been doing for 10+ years. DI is great for efficiency and avoiding knock, being able to more accurately control when the fuel enters the cylinder does allow for slightly more aggressive timing. However putting more fuel in the cylinder with PI helps cool it stops things melting and allows more boost, which will end up making more power with less timing. The later is something the remote tuners do not quite understand, because it doesn't show in a log thats sent to them.

@@ZeroTo60Tube i planned on doing methanol injection along with the ethanol because ethanol contents where i am arent above 70% and that was gonna be my way to make up the octane id be missing out on but ill have to go a little further and look into port injection i have a buddy making 750whp and hes got methanol injection and a helix 4time overdrive and i was gonna shoot for around that same power maybe going higher after saving up mostly more money so that if i do destroy an engine ill have a second one but you got me thinking ill say that

Just keep doing some research, my best piece of advice. There is a lot of marketing hype out there, which exists to sell a product, that is all. But people fall for the hype and then preach it as gospel. However meth on top definitely takes some stress off the fuel system. But again, the fast guys wont use meth. Port e85 for the win. FYI, you wont see a big difference on a street tune between e70 and e85. I run the 17t car between e60 and e75, it doesn't make any difference in the log. However i will get run in to issues around e55 over 25psi. Last what 100-200kmh or 60-130mph dragy does your buddies 750whp car do?

Pulsar turbos are the go especially for the pricing.. from what I've heard and it's just what someone has told me... they are coming out of the same factory as the garrets who knows 🤷 either way good turbos and won't be a lag monster like my lump of junk 😁

lol we could be brothers. im runing the pulsar g42-1450, also i got ahold of adam, almost have him convinced to make me an equal length front mount kit for the g42. i cant wait to hear how your car sounds. just so you know, i know several 40k dollar engines running these 900 dollar turbos and theyre tit for tat as good as the real ones.

I'm so excited for this single turbo stuff. Do you know of any companies who do the same copying for Borg Warner turbos? I want a big turbo on my Volvo s70, but basically the only one that fits without MAJOR firewall modification/tubular manifold work is a Borg Warner 7064. Its also internally gated which helps with not having to fab that in as well

Pulsar do actually make BW copies, but only their airwerks series chargers. Like the s363 for example (may have their numbers wrong) but I know those Turbos are also amazing for big power. Worth considering for your build!

I would have spent the extra 2k on a Garrett. Cheaper insurance on the fresh motor! That’s just me! I’m sure with todays tech they are 1:1. Would be cool to see the balance of them at max rpm

I have to ask. I'm planning to install speedtech bottom mount kit on my n54. They offer precision, borg and garrett options. Since I live in EU, I was going to buy the kit without a turbo. So my question is: Is the pulsar g35-900 made with same dimensions as the real Garrett one? I want to use Pulsar turbo with Garrett designed kit from speedtech. Thank you in advance!

It shouldnt, the worst thing will be slower spool. However it will be minimal. You will get a bigger difference from having an extra person in the car and loading it up more. At a guess

Dont use dupli color hi heat paint for the turbine housing. I painted my jz manifold and followed all the correct steps and it burnt off on the dyno and drive home. Looks junk now.

Eagle rods , je 9:1 pistons, ferra valves, super tec springs. S52 cams , real s52b32us. King bearings , L19 11mm s54 head studs. Built and blueprinted by evolution race engines in amityville NY. Zero miles, going into a e39 touring. I also have a m54b30 with 30k miles on a stand with raceware head studs and a .140 head spacer.... but aluminum, ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... so I built this s52. All m5 drive train, 135i brembos up front. Clutchmasters 850 twin. Rtd tall shifter, dssr. 20" style 32's , full air ride . Swapped ms42 to ms43. Manual swapped. Single piece driveshaft, mechanical water meth ( wannaspeed, like the aussie style, 600cc pre compressor at 20 psi. ) Been just over a year sense I bought the car... almost done. Hopefully I drive it in the next 30 days. I just realized pulsar made a dual ball bearing s300 /s400 series... so its like a efr clone for 750ish. (9180/s366) they offer a 363,366,369 ,372... they all use the 366 80/73 turbine / divided 91 only. (I'm very VERY close to pulling the trigger on that 366. I don't have a twin scroll manifold yet tho. I could buy it with no housing, get a .88 open for it. Or just bite the bullet get the twin scroll from boostmonkey / vie. Also have turbo e36, and a soon to be turbo winter beater firsr year 528. (Bolth m52 iron blocks )

And in exactly the same way you will disfigure a hot housing and attach an external wastegate to it...? Why show this technical horror for everyone to see!? With this arrangement of the wastegate, the flow will be disrupted onto the turbine wheel!

I am surprised you've gone with the Pulsar 1050 just because there is no twin scroll option and the rest of Adam's kit seems highly optimised. I myself have been trying to decide on which Pulsar to go for and although the 1050 was my first choice, I have always been turned off by the lack of twin scroll for such a large turbo. The S366 was the other option worth looking at being twin scroll and having dual ceramic ball bearings. I will be keen to see your spool as your results will have a direct impact on my turbo choice! When will the first logs be rolling in?

It's not v band... I forget that I run a t4 most new new stuff doesn't..... you could always mod one easily, but its a lot of money for a product that does not fit out of the box. I totally understand that.

Fucking oath Pulsar turbos are some of the best price to quality i've ever seen. I bought a GTX 3582R. Really nice billet and dual ball bearings. Shame they get lumped into the same category as china ebay turbos.
