This bike is sweet but it takes alot to "kill" a giant. It cost more than a SurRon, and doesn't have the models or mods. The Solar is less than the Segway though. I like the options available. Hopefully competition will drive prices down. Great review. Can't wait for the testing.

Kinda pricey for carbon fiber. I get why they used the material but will it hold up? Also depends on the level of customer service, being as their headquarters are all the way in the UK, at least for North America customers. I'm interested but these don't offer the Portability of scoots and I'm not willing to just chain it to a tree for my commutes lol.

What a coincidence. I just looked at my phone and had email from solar scooters about the solar eclipse. I didn’t click on it because I assumed it was a scooter. I come on RU-vid, see this and instantly notice that it’s a suron? Like bike. After seeing your thumbnail, I quickly clicked on the link and was like, if it’s £2500 I’ll buy it and it costs £5000. Oh well. Bet the people that can afford it will had tons of fun. Maybe I could see a kidney for £4000 and add the remaining £1000. I remember hearing about a Chinese bloke who did it for an iPod or something. 😭

It is actually an e-bicycle with higher voltage in e-bike disguise made in China. The fat-tire e-bicycles can be bought for US$1500 in Taiwan with waiting period of 7 to 13 days for freight shipping. So £5000 for an e-bike with almost identical mechanism is kinda rip-off.

@@roamereasy9737 I’ve not seen any fat tire bikes that look better then this. Those are regular e bikes and this is a thing of beauty. This cost so much more because it’s much higher quality. Lots of those bikes you mention, are not the same in quality. You can tell just by looking.

In Florida, the Solar E-Clipse is considered an “Off-highway vehicle” and is issued a sticker instead of a license plate.

This is a rebranded Denzel Samurai. Been out for couple years but sales never took off. If you jump this or do "extreme riding" it voids your warranty. This is prob a better road bike than a surron but not for off roading the motor is vulnerable as well... also the power is tuned down, go in the app crank the power all the way up and then it'll go like 65mph and wheelie.

It just needs streetbike-tires and streetbike-fenders, front and rear... 138 pounds, I coud take it to my tiny appartment with the elevator, because ti´s so slick, enabling easy handling, whille you push it inside your appartment building...

@@rietzhu Surely not built for portability, we´re still far from that, simply hauling a motorbike up the stiairs. But with its weight, still viable when u have an elevator. I put a couple of times my 125cc in the apparment, for longer repairs, and for when I ´ve left home for several days (or else it´d be stolen), and with this one, it´d be even easier. Handling the long, heavy 125cc through building-corridors and elevator-doors wasn´t fun at all, in comparison. This one, I could ride through the corridor, none would notice, while the 125cc would CO-poison anyone I meet in the corridor... ;-) Of course, it´s 4 times more expensive than my 125cc, which I bought even cheaper, cause 2nd-hand...

Nice video but exactly what tools are needed to assemble the E bike. Metric or standard? I am assuming metric. But I would actually like to know exactly what size Allen wrenches and other tools are needed for assembly. As I will be helping a friend who does not have any tools and wants to buy some, for when he assembled his soon to be acquired Solar E-clipse.

So the the only tools required will be a thin punch to remove the front spindle, a full Allen key set and a rubber mallet or hammer to gently tap the spindle out incase it’s stuck. -Vosk

@Electric Scooter Guide I'm glad I waited now after seeing the videos on it I was going to buy the talaria sting r but I never did I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 accross the pond so I'm in the market for a electric bike or electric style bike like the solar eclipse or talaria sting r I did not want a sur ron because I just see them as a money pit with all the upgrades you have to do out the box with them plus I have medical issues ie spinabifida so the lighter the better & by the way solar scooter are going to be bringing out an app for the eclipse where you can de-restrict the bike as it has a limiter on it once you hit around 50-55mph it will not let you go any faster but I was chatting to 1 of the guys at solar scooters in the UK & a app is coming for the solar eclipse just to let you know

Battery meters seem to always be calibrated strangely. I agree. That’s more like 54 - 55% I haven’t range tested very many emotos, but I feel like electric scooters are always set up super optimistic on the top half of the gauge and then drop like a rock on the bottom half. Sort of the opposite of what you’d want to do to make sure you get home. -Paul

I did 75 miles with no plate in the bike lanes of Oakland. Oakland PD and CHP saw me several times and didn't seem to care. If you're blasting through traffic at 50mph, you may get some attention. It's visually small enough to get away with looking like an e-bike if you leave the mirrors off and plate holder. I'd probably register one if I owned it, so I wouldn't need to worry about getting hassled. Full review coming this week! -Paul

That's a great question. I used to own a motorcycle shop, and I've raced 250cc bikes, so I can give you a comparison based on tested top speeds. Basic air-cooled 250cc motorcycles like the Honda CB250 will go just under 70mph. We'll reveal the top speed of the E-Clipse in the review, but it's close to 60mph. So stock, out of the box, it's less power than an air-cooled 250. But it also weighs much less and has way more torque when launching from stop lights. So stoplight to stoplight the E-Clipse will beat an air-cooled 250 and probably tie a basic water cooled 250. -Paul

I just don't get why Sur-ron doesn't make the Ultra street legal. I could see them losing out on a lot of sales. If it was street legal I would buy that before this. More power with enough torque to wheelie. I really don't like that the frame on the Solar E-Clipse is made from carbon fiber. You lay that down and crack the frame you might as well throw the bike in the trash.

I wouldn't worry about low-siding it at all, unless the bike slides into something solid at high speed. I've crashed motorcycles more than 20 times, (most of which on the track, but also many many times on the street), the only time I ever had a crash that stressed my frame was when I cartwheeled the bike out of turn 6 at ThunderHill Raceway at 80mph. -Paul
