@@Andesu Don't get me wrong, I haven't turned into a hater. I have been a Chromebook fanboy almost since day one. I won't bore you with a dissertation on why my enthusiasm ran out. There were many factors, but expensive Chromebooks like the Acer Chromebook 713, which was the last Chromebook I bought, expensive machines like that need to be on par in utility with a similarly-priced Windows laptop and they're just not. There's always some way they are a step or two or more behind a Windows laptop in utility. The best way to see the problems is to try to convert a Windows or Mac laptop user to a Chromebook. Then you hear the complaints. "Where is the Delete key?" This is a Windows-centric complaint. "Where are the Page Up and Page Down keys?" Same deal for Home, End, and Insert keys. Everybody hated that. Mac users DESPISE the touch screen. "Did I just order 10,000 Ronco turnip twaddlers by accident when I brushed against the screen?" In the case of Mac users particularly, they HATED the build of my pricey Google Chromebook Go which they thought felt cheap, flimsy and weird rather than light, svelt and ergonomic. The latest version of the Acer Spin 713 (which I bought for it's EVO certification and Steam-friendly video) actually boots noticeably slower than my year older Spin 713. And are we ever really going to get Steam in a commercial version that doesn't require advanced technical expertise to install? I could go on and on and on, but you get the idea. I said I wouldn't get you a dissertation and still I went full TL;DR, sorry. Bottom line - A nice Chromebook now costs as much as a "real" laptop yet has disadvantages, handicaps, and weaknesses that make it less useful than a "real" laptop. I finally just ran out of excuses for Chromebooks, gave up, and bought a new Macbook M1 machine on a big discount when the M2 machines were announced. As I said at the top, I'm not a hater. If Google comes out today with a new killer app that will run on my current Chromebook(s), I will be all over it in a New York minute, but I'm not going to hold my breath and I'm certainly not going to buy another Chromebook for many years to come.
