Just another unboxing video, a couple weeks overdue. Life here on the 1856 farm is pretty leisurely.
Sadly my new vest arrived just hours after I left for the re-enactment I needed it for as the post office decided to revert to Victorian speed in delivering it (so I went in my actually antique suit as a last-minute change and broiled under the humid sun), but I'm pretty happy with the custom vest and am now ready to beat the Word into a new generation (spare the rod and all that).
I had Milk Creek Mercantile on ebay specifically do the back in wool as well so it can be worn without a coat as a waistcoat, and I replaced the buttons myself with authentic bone buttons as the buttons that came on it weren't period in style.
My character is, of course, a traveling preacher. I need to fade the vest a bit to get that worn appearance, so I'll be sure to wear it frequently for that accurate look! It's nice to have a long cut that actually fits my torso as everything off-the-shelf is inevitably too short even when I wear my britches high. I need to make some sashes as fillers for such cases. So perhaps there will be a video on that in the future!
I'll also need to make a video on the entire costume at some point from head to toe.
