Gretzky should definitely be number. No one will ever break that record. No one was close and no one will ever be.

Its honestly not worth debating. A lot of these are not actually untouchable. The top 2 for sure will never be touched. Unless goalies pads change or something weird like that.

no one will ever break Cy Young's record either. Most pitchers are lucky to win 200 games in their career. Both Gretzky and Young played in times that were so different than they are now....it does not change their numbers/accomplishments.

gamelvr1 Forgive me oh mighty all knowing guy who never before misinterpret anything.. I got it wrong, sometimes it happens to people who don't have english as first language, you could have just pointed out that it was career highs, as i did not understood it was, without being a dick.

How the hell was Joe DiMaggio's hit streak not on this? His streak is probably the most improbable record of all time and I would be in total disbelief if anyone ever came close to touching it. Also, Wilt's 100 points in an NBA game is unbreakable and should be on this list.

Hockey_Hines14 buuuuuuuuuut he didn't so u cant say mario deserves to be higher then gretzky
@Pernicion
@Pernicion 8 лет назад
+Hockey_Hines14 Which Math are you talking about? Cause Gretzky's 1.92 ppg, is better than Lemieux's 1.88... It's hard to argue against the greatness of Lemieux, he is a close 2nd for greatest player ever... (Orr #3)... Gretzky had a 5 year period that he averaged more than 200 points a year... Lemieux only came close to the mark once... If it was as you say, and only a few years away... Lemieux would have had to score at the level of Gretzky's prime scoring rate for 5.5 years... this seems unlikely. It seems equally unlike that he would keep the same points per game, but assuming he did... he would require 603 games to catch Gretzky... That's 7.3 years if he played all 82 games for all the years... He never managed to play a full schedule though... So this would likely take him something closer to 11 seasons... If his points did start to slip though, to say... the rate of his final real/healthy season... it would have taken him closer to 16 years... It seems unlikely he would have played that long. Career vs Career = Gretzky Prime vs Prime = Gretzky Game vs Game = Gretzky Any given play vs Any given play = Lemieux

People don't realize how significant Wayne Gretzky's records are. The guy Broke the all time record in points in his sport in less then 10 years. As great as Jordan, Smith,Kareem,Ruth,Williams,Rice, andManning are they where not that dominate in there sport like the Great One was, let me explain in detail: When Gretzky played for the Oilers, he won the MVP 8 times in a row and Art Ross trophy(most points) 7 times in a row. He scored 200 or more points 4 times in his career, no one ever did that once. Before or after. He practically has all the playoff scoring records too. When it came to scoring and being productive he will always be the GOAT then and now.

This video is only "North American" because Americans are so conceited and self centered so they are unable to appreciate anything foreign because in their mind their sports are the only ones that matter. Hence "World series" and champions of American Leagues are often regarded as "world champs".

Richard Petty - Most Laps Led Along with scoring 198 of his 200 wins with Petty Enterprises, Richard Petty set an astonishing record in North American motor sports with 51,039 laps led with a single team. The only other driver to come close to only half of that is Jeff Gordon with 24,664 laps led with Hendrick Motorsports. While he is an active driver who has the chance to at least lead half as many laps as Petty, it's unlikely he'll get any closer than that as he is nearing the end of his own amazing career. Petty's record is likely to remain untouched.

Gretzky's points record becomes even more incredible when you start to break down some of the records it represents. 92 goals in a season. 163 assists in a season. 215 points in a season. 50 goals in 39 games. 12 consecutive 40 goal seasons. 13 consecutive 100 point seasons. 4 times over 200 points in a season (the only player to do it even once). 7 consecutive NHL scoring titles. 8 consecutive NHL MVP awards. And all this while being perhaps the greatest ambassador any sport ever had. No man in the history of sport has ever been so humble when he had so many reasons not to be. For all of his talent on the ice the most amazing thing about him is what an incredible human being he was and is.

Mr. Mindware Idk for sure. I'd love to see it since Wilt's 100 point game was before my time but basketball has changed greatly since then. The closest person to beating Wilt was vintage Kobe with 81. My father said he remembered watching one game (a few weeks after kobe's 81 point game) where Kobe put up 72 points and sat out the whole 4th quarter. If Kobe couldn't quite do it, however, I think Steph is our next best shot

Not only will no one break Cy Young's wins record, but no pitcher will even come close to sniffing his throne. Pitchers simply won't have the arms to last half that long. It's already a rare feat to reach 20 wins in a season now. 20-year careers for any pitchers are a blessing. To think a pitcher has to average 20 wins for 25 years and STILL not catch him? Impossible.
@mlilien
@mlilien 8 лет назад
Times have changed. Back in the early 20th century, pitchers would be in the game for the full 9 innings. But now with all injuries and big salaries, pitchers are kept very safe.
@AllMediaReviewsPodcast
@AllMediaReviewsPodcast 7 лет назад
well it's more that when Cy Young pitched, pitchers would pitch more often. Some pitching staffs only had 3 starting pitchers, so he'd pitch every 3rd or 4th game. He averaged almost 40 Games Started a season, which obviously gave him more opportunity to Win games. Along with being used as a relief pitcher at times which he won games as, as well. The Statistics weren't kept, but had they been, it could be argued Satchel Paige's WIn, Strikeout, Shutout and No-Hitter totals would eclipse Young, Johnson and Ryan's records on this list. For one, he would often pitch everyday, thus he would have had that many more opportunities to compile the statistics for those records. And the fact he pitched well into his 40's.

gamelvr1 lets play guess the nationality. you're an American, you have no concept of humour or irony, and nothing better to do than insult people over the internet. You think I don't know who fucking Iron Man is? You think the term "iron man" is diverse and used across all of time and space by all peoples? Precisely how would someone be both insane and narrow-minded simultaneously? And moreover, why the fuck do you care so much about it? And just to get it on record, the term is longevity, not iron man. Iron man records would be those that apply to iron man contests such as those held in Hawaii et al. Now kindly fuck off

Cals record is my single favorite of all sports being that it is a record for us lunch pailers showing up for work and doing your job as best you can every day. It doesn't require speed or power just a strong work ethic (and health). It is a record we all can strive for. But the video clearly states at the beginning that records for just longevity are not included so that would rule the ironman out.
@Babbleduck1
@Babbleduck1 10 лет назад
From the beginning, the narrator said that she was not going to include "iron man" records. That's why Ripken wasn't added. Otherwise, it would definitely be worthy of acknowledgement. The plain truth is that, if they weren't trying to spread the love to several different sports, nearly all the most unbreakable records would belong to baseball.

He was saying that a player would have to average over 20 rebounds a game for their career to even come close to Wilt Chamberlain's record. Chamberlain had 23,924 rebounds. To put that into perspective, Tim Duncan was the closest active player until retiring this year, and he only had 15,091 rebounds. Shaq only had 13,099 for his career. Even Kareem playing for as long as he did only managed 17,440 rebounds. With the slower pace now there is pretty much no way for anybody to even come close to touching his record. Stockton's assists record will be gone long before anybody even gets within 5,000 rebounds of Chamberlain. His record is pretty much a permanent fixture in the record books.

DrDrewRulez The NFL now is necessarily a passing league, as there are often hand-offs to a running back multiple times a game. AP has the greatness to break Emmit Smith's record, but I don't think he'll be around for to many more seasons to make that happen.

no he cannot

He can, fucking defenses know he's gonna run that damn ball, and he still gets TD's and multiple 1st downs.

I know this is career records but Joe Dimaggio's hit streak is definitely the most unbreakable

Putting Rice's record on here is silly. Every passing record is breakable.

Then why is nobody even close to his TD record?
@christopherjohnson1873

pilot88pro Not now, but in an increasingly passing league, I don't see how it can't be challenged in the future.

Well 3 years later and no one is even sniffing it. 208 career TDs, you’d have to average 15 TDs for 14 seasons to do so. It ain’t happening, WR or RB, no one is breaking it. Larry Fitz is the closest active with only 120

What about Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game?
@ZhangtheGreat
@ZhangtheGreat 10 лет назад
Single-game records are iffy, because you just never know what could happen on any given day. Kobe once scored 81 in a game, and David Robinson scored 71, so Chamberlain's record has come under threat.

Cy Young is defiantly the best because 20 wins for 25 seasons and you'd still lose ? Thats unreachable much more than any of these others.

Sparkdog19 yeah and considering the last 30 win season by a pitcher was in 1968 i dont even think it would be possible to get over 350 now with all the advanced scouting going on. i think kershaw has the best chance at 300+ right now but considering kershaw is already 27 i dont see him hitting 300+ either unless he plays past 40 and has absolutely no injuries
