Unchained Melody (Ghost) 

The main section of this melody includes many half and dotted half notes; two
phrases are repeated with 1st and 2nd endings. The focus is on varying dynamics in
melodic expression accompanied with a contrasting and repeating broken chord
figure of eighth and quarter notes in a low range. Left hand ascending and
descending arpeggios occur at the end of the two-phrases to sustain the rhythm and
harmony; both hands repeat the arpeggios in a repetition of the melody. The final
phrase has a descending sequence of quarter and half notes accompanied by
descending single bass notes with a 2nd repeated broken chord figure using a dotted
quarter and eighth note. In the contrasting section, two four-measure phrases are
accompanied with a 3rd repeated broken chord figure of two eighths and a quarter
note. The first section is repeated strongly by melodic embellishments, full chords
and several changes in range.
