well I appreciate that. It's clear that my channel grows a ton more when I talk about nike shoes. There is also way more to talk about because they do such a good job with stories and marketing. they make it fun. to top it off the added engagement makes it more fun. on the flip side.... there is no urgency for typical skate shoes so those videos don't get any love. actually id say they get so little love that skaters only buy them when they're on clearance. ive racked my brain trying to figure out how to make endemic skate shoes work in the shop but they're quickly dying. like when I order product from an endemic skate brand Irving and I are like "well this is our skateboard charity for the season" and that isn't good. we can only do that as long as we are healthy. once things take a down turn we can't afford to carry brands that skaters only pretend to love. imagine the irony of being mad at a shop for carrying brands you don't like but then only buying sale shoes. I figure you might have some insight being that you're also an older skater but everyone has the excuse "I'm just going to tear them up so I only buy skate shoes on sale" .... that's just not good for biz. any insights? how do I build urgency and excitement around skate brands? its not just my shop. I talk to shops all over and it's the same thing. I want people to be excited about skate shoes again but also I love Nike and Adidas so no shade on that. I dunno.... such a conundrum. I can tell you this. if the MJ Emerica and Koston eS don't do well for Skate Shop day I have to swallow the hard pill that we are done with sole tech. I HATE THAT!! 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@DavidBluetile completely understand the SB business and how it helps the shop. I. Not against Nike, they just don't fit me well. I like to odds and end shoes. The shoes I don't know about or anything new and different. Always supportive. Just not a Nike guy.

Oh I didn't think you were against it. I appreciated the comment on content that wasn't nike! I wish more people understood that it helps to comment on the videos you'd like to see more of rather than negative comments on the videos you'd like to see less of. So I def appreciate it. I was just thinking maybe you had some input. We really do have this conversation at the shop often... trying to dial it in.

I don't know what they do!! haha they're not homies just in this small circle of sneaker heads I'm in. So many people tell me to make videos like theirs... but I do not have foamers charisma!! or that beard! sheepish! I can see the aloha toe box a little. for sure. the aloha has a better toe for skating but the prototype has a wider toe.... sort of like a cycling shoe.

It’s not my typical go to shoe either. I’d probably even feel weird wearing them around but when I saw it and it wasn’t a generic shoe with their label on it I thought…. Damn there are whole skate brands that exist off regurgitated styles and they just came out with someone original so I back that

@@DavidBluetile It is cool that it's a new model from the ground up. The tooling for sneakers is so expensive, too. That's why you mostly see re-branded designs in the "independent shoe market".

yeah exactly. that's why I was so caught off guard by this. maybe this is a silhouette from a world of shoes I'm not familiar with but.... their outsole is clearly their own. that had to cost so much.

@@DavidBluetile They look like an amalgam of a few different things to me. 1. barefoot running shoe 2. rock climbing shoe 3. aqua sock ...and that tooling is definitely their own. Not gonna lie. I've been aware of, and liked quite a few of, their hoodies over the years. I'd kind of like to see them make some "cozy" shoes. Like, some slippers, slides/flip flops. Just casual stuff.

I’ll check out knees over toes for sure. It’s def a shoe out of left field. I was like … what the heck is that? Caught me by surprise to say the least. Also makes me realize that I’d have no idea where to start when making an original shoe that might appeal to more people outside of my circle
