A nephew recalls the sometimes-lonely and often-eccentric life of his uncle.
Part one of a trilogy; ‘Uncle’ has screened at over 200 film festivals, both internationally and locally. Fellow animator Sarah Watt (see ‘Catch of the Day’ - 1995) produced the film, and her husband, William McInnes, narrated it.
To complete the trilogy, Adam produced ‘Cousin’ in 1998 and ‘Brother’ in 1999, each of which received an AFI award for Best Animation.
In 2003, Elliot with producer Melanie Coombs made ‘Harvey Krumpet’ narrated by Geoffrey Rush. The film went on to win both the AFI Award and Academy Award in 2003. The team of Elliot and Coombs made the feature film ‘Mary and Max’ which was a joint winner with Henry Selick’s ‘Coraline’ at Annecy in 2009. The film has been widely studied in secondary schools throughout Australia. ACMI in Melbourne held an exhibition of its puppets and sets in 2010.
Elliot’s film “Ernie Biscuit’ (2015) is narrated by John Flaus and is another of what he calls his ‘clayographies’.
