Compilation of Uncle Buck´s Car the 1975 Mercury Marquis Brougham Coupe. Scenes from Movie Uncle Buck with great John Candy. Onkel Bucks Auto. Auschnitte aus dem Film "allein mit Onkel Buck" mit John Candy.
No one has mentioned it, but give credit to the writer who came up with the idea to have John Candy drive such a beast of a car. It fits the movie perfectly, considering Uncle Buck's persona and such.
My car smoked like this as well back in the mid 90's when I first got my license. I also seen other cars do this as well back then, usually they were pre 1990 vehicles. I had an 87 Dodge and it burned 1 quart of oil every 40 miles. I remember buying 1 quart of oil for .79 cents back then. The only drawback of my car smoking like this was I had to change the spark plugs every few months because they would get covered with oil and the car would misfire when that happened. The good thing about my car smoking was that I never once had someone tailgate me, they kept many car lengths behind me.
I heard the same music in between scenes on the George Lopez show. The cranking sound and the drums. I thought I heard it before, but I thought it was in some song, I don't know what song, so I'll forget about it.
0:13-0:22 is an example of cinematic genius. Pick a long car like a Mercury Grand Marquis.. remove the rear shocks. Turn the headlights on and have it drive at night on a bumpy road while another car illuminates it from behind so you can see from the car, the headlights, and the shadow how much it’s bouncing up and down.
I'm exchanging cars with my son for when he goes to college. I have his older car, he has my newer. This song is going to play in my head every time I drive it
Reminds me of a contest a friend of mine and I had to see which vehicle blew more smoke. I had a 1981 Chevy Pickup and he a 1977 Camaro. Both had 350 V8 engines. We started up and started gunning the engines until thick oil smoke shot out of both sets of tailpipes. We ended up calling it a draw because we couldn't see a blessed thing. One thing for sure: We killed all the bugs and mosquitos in that parking lot that day.
I had a '72 Marquis Brougham that looked very similar to uncle Buck's car. It was in about the same condition and it would also back fire like that when I turned off the ignition lol.
Uh... you can get aftermarket chips or tune it to do almost anything you want. A good example is the 5.0 Coyote in the Mustang. It has twin variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) which gives the performance of an aftermarket cam at high RPM while the fuel economy, emissions, and smooth idle of a regular cam at idle. Well it’s a simple hack to advance the cam at idle so you get that very lumpy sound of a flat cam V8 that barely wants to idle. Then the moment you accelerate it retards the cam to give you a smooth engine until the time comes to advance it again. From remapping the fuel injection to give you more performance to dumping extra diesel in to make smoke.. chips can do things you never thought of in the analogue world.
Mine was a 1983 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ. Man u could turn the steering wheel with ur pinky! Those old cars had powerful v8 engines, just heavy and not so good trans. U talk about a smooth ride, it was really fun to drive!
I got the same car, same color, same model but it's 4 door. Only reason I got it is because it was $1,000 and running and is an attractive car. Didn't see the movie until after I got it
Some shocks, new rings, um.. Timing, maybe plugs, wires, cap, rotor, carb kit, a little paint, new tires, brakes, fuel system clean, exhaust, suspension, and nice paint job, you wouldn't recognise it. By the time I was done with it it would be good as new.
That’s steam. It would be a blown head gasket in real life. But they likely just put a windshield washer sprayer with water or some other solution into the exhaust manifold.
@@calvinnickel9995 it is most likely a fog machine underneath the car or in the trunk. It is Hollywood.. those are common. They you can remove the shocks or they could have found an old Mercury with bad shocks and it could do the same thing. or.. take a vacuum line and put it into a can of oil or transmission fluid does pretty much the same thing.
the movie was made during the cold season and the car had a blown engine head and gasket so water was being burned out muffler to exhaust and since its hot it causes steam
Isn't it funny that the headlight covers open fine as do the power windows? I like that crazy high CB antenna and the Abandon Auto sticker on the dash! the aftermarket 8-track is cool too. BTW that Merc is either a '77 or '78
sry if i sounded alittle vulgar seafoam is used to clear sludge out of dirty cylinder heads and valves its very high in detergent thus removing sludge you can find it at you local auto store :)
It can be done by putting oil on something hot although that smells bad... The easier and less smelly way / more environmentally friendly way is to use a smoke machine (burns oil type substance but not as polluting). You can buy them at dick smith electronics or jaycar electronics. I once saw a car pumping so much smoke you couldn't see the car (serious ring problem)
you run it through the carb simple as that its very hight in detergent almost like trans fluid you mix i little of it with the gas and it removes sludge from the heads
UNKLE BUCKS CAR IS NOT A MARQUIS IT IS A TOP OF THE RANGE GRAND MARQUIS WITH THE 460 CUBIC INCH ENGINE THIS CAR IS NOW IN A PRIVET COLECTION YN DALLAS TEXAS
Not a problem! Rev it up turn off the ignition pump some gas in there and turn it back on again. BAM! Back in the good ole days with carborators, no fuel injection, and no computers! High school memories for sure!!
That or you can purposely overfill your oil tank and whenever you make a slight incline - pure white smoke. Or you could drench your muffler in motor oil. :P
@@Bartonovich52 Or rig up a way for it to draw Diesel Fuel/ATF into the PCV system. Used to decarbon engines this way, makes it belch out huge clouds of smoke just like that when you do this?
It's the "Wild Beats version that's all instrumental. It's by Tone Loc. The big drum part and the guitar parts are from "Jamie's Cryin'", by Van Halen.
Needs a tune up. The cylinders are miss-firing. My mom's 2002 Toyota Celica used to smoke pretty bad like that until she got a better engine put in. It ran ok just didn't have much guts.
Piston rings/valve guides worn out, allowing engine oil into the combustion chamber. A blown head gasket will also cause steam to come out of the tailpipe
Remember the days when you could buy a $100 beater, buy an inspection sticker for $5, attach your old license plates and ride around updating your bill of sale every 3 days?
