Uncle Grandpa was an example of a show that was released at the wrong generation. If Uncle Grandpa was an 2000's cartoons instead of released at 2010's, the show will becoming a classic favorite.
_Secret Mountain Fort Awesome_ ran from 2007-2012 and was basically just this kind of humor (read: Uncle Grandpa was literally in an episode) but a little grosser and most people at the time did not care for it
the fact that this show had a crossover with Steven universe shows that CN truly knows how to take a risk, teaming probably the best show they’ve ever made up with that crapfest Steven universe
To be fair, I hate modern humor Zoomer humor just like I hated this show as a kid. However, I must say Uncle Grandpa is still *Somehow* more watchable and less unhinged then most stuff I see scrolling the internet.
I'm glad Uncle Grandpa is being remembered as ahead of its time. This show was my guilty pleasure in a time where everyone just wrote it off as another brainless kids show.
From what I remember of what I watched in Uncle Grandpa, this show is basically what happens when you take an Adult Swim show, keep the chaotic nature and nonsensical, stupid comedy of it and turn it kid friendly. Huh… Not that I think about it, we do actually have an example of that in the form of Amazing World of Gumball since it was originally gonna be an Adult Swim thing.
I dont understand some of the hate that this show gets, sure it can be obnoxiously annoying. But dont you think that you got obnoxiously annoying sometimes. It really pictured surrealism almost to a ren and stimpy level, This show should get more love.
Im waiting for the moment someone comes here without ever watching the show, thinking that only some of it is out of context, and then finding the show and realising that context was never truly a part of it.
Uncle Grandpa was way ahead of it's time with internet humor, another example of one of those "I see you guys aren't ready for that yet, but your kids... they're gonna love it." moments
That first clip I initially thought was a Hotel Mario reference, but then with further research, apparently both are references to the Rolling Stones... but at the same time, Uncle Grandpa is a show that's out there enough to explicitly reference something like Hotel Mario.
The average episode would start with a kid who is bad at baseball or something and uncle grandpa shows up and takes him to fight a zombie wizard on another planet where baseball just so happens to be what defeats rhe zombie wizard and now the kid is good at it This show really did not care at all and i love it
My mom hated this show when i was a kid. I can see why. But i still enjoy it. I remember the lightbulb episode. All those uncle grandpas just for one of them to plug in his nose
