How can people be so negative about an act that purely exists to honor someone’s legacy

It always gets me when critics (like Sedgwick here) say things like "I'm not scared by this." Does Drew McIntyre intimidate you? I guess you really do hate Dominick Mysterio too, right? You're able to suspend reality to consume wrestling enough to critique it, but not here? That's so odd to me, and part of the reason why I have a hard time taking some wrestling personalities seriously. If you don't like it, you don't like it. That's fair. To add the caviot that this doesn't scare you, however, is misguided. And the camera operator bit?! Are you serious?! Only NOW?...ONLY NOW do you care about the scene falling apart because the camera operator is present? As if this isn't a TV show where a wrestler attacks an official or a referee and no one presses charges...where a match gets stopped do to disqualification, a beat down happens, and no one is arrested for assault....I mean hell, Bron Breaker and the Rock apparently tried to "off" Ricochet and Cody Rhodes respectively. You don't here anyone saying "well, this fell apart for me, because the cameraman was present for all of the home invasion angles I've ever seen, and doesn't that make them an accessory or accomplice to a break in? I just can't take this seriously."

Really had to pick 2 of the more overly negative staff members to give their views to throw a bucket of cold water on what was a great segment. Christ sidgwick really likes to try and sound more intelligent than he is. Talking about derivative shots etc, when I guarantee the extent of thought was "dress Nikki as sister Abigail and make her look scary". Not "let's copy the ring". Happy every week that theres a random camera man listening in on private conversations, but can't suspend disbelief over a camera man not being massacred when invited in by Nikki. Noone except sidgwick legitimately thinks that the people back stage were supposed to be dead. Take your own advice. Don't think too deeply. There were no 'exit wounds', jesus christ. Felt so sorry for Adam having to sit there and listen to them ramble on. Legitimately screams 2 poms pissed off that Drew didn't get his moment at CATC, so they're taking opportunity to shit on something unnecessarily, didn't say a single positive thing.

😮 oh yeah one other thing I don’t know if you guys noticed that you probably did. Chad, when Otis turned on him, he kept yelling in the ring, but we are family. You can’t leave me. I won’t let you in the backstage area when they left Chad again, stated you can’t leave me. We are family. I won’t let you. Then in the final scene of the show, Chad is the one that we can clearly see as the last victim of the night. So perhaps their motivation is family and those who are betraying or not treating family the right way at least that’s what I think.

I was always thought it was cool to keep Bray's legacy going, especially since I was his vision, and his brother was apart of it. A major part in fact. I did however have reservations. The loss still bothers me. Of course I never knew Bray. I'm a fan, and I hated the undermining of Vince that ruined Bray's legacy from the get-go. His micromanagement ruined his mystique, from the cult leader to The Fiend. Bray finally came back, and you could actually feel the shift in power, and you could feel that Bray Wyatt was about to make the journey of his career. You could feel the phenix metafor play out in real time. Tragedy struck, and we lost a brilliant performer. I just became worried that his legacy would be tainted by this, but I always remembered, his own brother was in a major part of it. The lengthy teasing began to feel a bit cliché. However everything changed last night. The visuals were masterfully horror movie accomplished. When I saw Bo, Uncle Howdy, I felt a lump in my throat, and cheerful inside. Bray may nolonger be with us, but his legacy lives. The reveal apparently was perfect. Perfect timing, and execution. I'm looking forward to what is to come.

I thought it was executed extremely well and builds intrigue for the next shows. Now, how it plays out from here remains to be seen, but all in all, it was a great start.

Sidgwick need to learn to suspend his disbelief when he's watching wrestling and just enjoy the content without poking holes in it. Thank goodness for Simon and his positive attitude and love of goofy wrestling.

First of all, Vince isnt there. Vince was the one that tempered a lot of what happened. Second, there is TNA people who worked on the broken gimmick and that worked. Third, Firefly funhouse was in "another world", what if the portal was to a "different gorrila" and it was an "illusion". Third, you keep saying supernatural and then the report said its more "real". So how much of the info that is there for you to try and rubbish this before it started?! You actually dont know exactly what happened. You are inferring things from imagery and words and the small messy parts are where Wrestling plays best in. I think there is more to this. Especially with background videos etc. about how a lot of it is potentially a psychotic break type approach to the story. Triple H is in control of this now, Bray isnt there and Vince is gone. I think this needs time..

Did he just say that supernatural gimmicks have never worked in wrestling and most likely never will? Which is clearly not a fact but I'm just wondering how he came to that conclusion. "Well The Fiend was entirely unbelievable and you can go back in time and look at a guy like Mordecai and how unsuccessful he was in both that gimmick and his vampire one." Bray Wyatt - supernatural. Multi time WWE champion, and one of the biggest merch movers of all time. The Brood (both versions) - 4 out of the 5 members eventually became world champion (if you count the ECW title, if not then 3/5). Kane - legend, Hall of Famer, multi time world champ. The fucking Undertaker! Come on man!

The fact that Gable was so clearly and selectively shown to have been targeted (while most others were - apparently - random people) makes me wonder if this has to do with Braun Strowman and his former (and perhaps future?) affiliation with the Wyatt Family. After all, only an hour earlier in the same show, he'd had a match with Gable specifically because he "does not like Bullies". Perhaps Uncle Howdy and his new crew wanted to signal that, while Braun may not (yet?) be a part of them, "for old times' sake" they have his back. Or that they too, in fact, dislike bullies. Although to be fair, pretty much murdering most of the WWE production crew and several talent - even though they'll all be revealed to be injured rather than dead of course - can be seen as a bully move as well. Anyhoo, I had goosebumps watching the segment, I think it was visually very well executed. Now I'm looking forward to what's next.

I find this criticism of the “flaws in logic” weird. For me, all it would take is for them to get into a feud with someone willing to call them out as nothing more than theatrics. Use commentary to point out that while they like theatrics, they’ve proven to be a real threat underneath. As long as they deliver in the ring, the fact they are deliberately theatrical as a mind games tactic is not hurting “the realism” any more than why Breaker isn’t in handcuffs after hospitalising someone last week.
