Kwasi Pratt don't be a liar. Free education which was Primary and Middle School didn't start in 1951. It actually started in 1960 when it was mandated that every school going child should start elementary school. I started elementary school in 1957 and my grandmother was paying my fees not until 1960. The then free education was from primary 1 - 10 and then after your next level of Secondary School (SHS) was in the hands of your parents to see you through after you pass the then Common Entrance Examination which was pre-requisite to go to SHS. It was only our Northern folks who had free Primary, Middle and SHS. It was discriminatory doing by the then CPP government led by Kofi Ngolomah aka Kwame Nkrumah by his own parochial agenda against the Southerners. Many poor talented people were left behind who could have been great men/women in their era. Nkrumah was the worst president the country have had considering the fact that, the colonial government left huge sum of money for our new nation but Nkrumah was spending the money like a sailor on an anchored ship.
Bravo, Mr. Kwamea-Mensah, for your in tuition about Ghana education system from the British colonial time until Kwame Nkrumah brought about the Northern free secondary school system with British colonial money for infrastructure for the Northern sector. I was born in 1955 and live through the same education system you went through. Should we've the FSHS as we've it today we may have educated ourselves more than we did. FSHS initiative is going to be President Nana Akuffu-Addo's NPP government legacy.
70 percent of our ministers, lawyers, MPs etc since 1992 have been those who enjoyed free education. Examples are JDM, Innusah Fusseni, Muntaka, Bagbin, etc. Most Ghanaians,though brighter than those who had the chance. Let us put it this way, there must be a law in the Constitution of Ghana to pay 15 percent pay packets of those fortunate ones to support feeding of free education.

From 1950 to tell now 2024 NDC and NPP this two parties leaders are so stupid people’s Ghana youth should wake up they always think about the pocket how they will get more money. Go to some villages in Ghana and see how peoples are suffering even how to get water food
