Sorry for the 3 comments lol, but I just saw at the end of the video 'recommendations for great chefs'. Thuy Pham from the Little Viet Kitchen in London, a british vietnmaese chef! I worked for her, she's won so many awards for her Pho and Vietnamese cooking, I was so lucky to be able to be around that food every day.

I'm British. I'm sorry for what my people do to Asian food on public TV lol. Shows like this very rarely feature proper chefs, we have a lot of 'TV Chefs', Jamie Oliver is the #1 of these. But then we have proper chefs like Gordon Ramsay who know what they're doing. Things like this, and the really bad egg fried rice by the BBC video, they're all daytime TV shows with the random TV chefs. But in general people who are interested in cooking like me and a lot of my friends will watch RU-vid videos for authentic recipes and try our best to do them with the ingredients we have. I wish Asian food was even more popular over here!

Hello Steven and Peach i found your videos when looking up uncle roger videos, and i absolutely love your content, I've gone back and watched your past videos and they're very fun to watch (i love learning about Japan as well) most of my exposure is through anime to be fair (love Demon Slayer!) But its nice to hear about cultural differences from a local perspective, you guys make me want to visit even more!

As someone who had Pho during my childhood, I had the exact same reaction as Uncle Roger. 😭 Also, I found your channel out of spite and watched more of your videos. :D

I'm not a huge Pho fan. I'm just not a fan of most broth based dishes. That being said, as an Asian food lover, this was a hard watch. My facial expressions were so much like Uncle Roger's that my parents told me to close my mouth. This was so unbearably bad that even Holly, one of the co-hosts, took one bite and never took another one. If a British person won't eat it, it's probably the most horrific thing to eat.

I love your videos. It’s always the best. Since the first time I watched your channel. As an Vietnamese, Pho is not only my childhood but also the best meal in my hometown.

I'm really happy that in the second half of the video you explained the various types of noodles and noodle dishes. I think I'll try to get some Yakisoba sauce and noodle and then make it at home.

Use spaghetti, as long as you put soy sauce and tofu in the dish it will be Asian

I haven't been in the UK, but I have a few friends that moved in Belfast, Northern Ireland some time ago, and they're always saying that the place is good, but food is terrible. After watching you guys and some other channels reacting to the various cooking on British TV I now understand why my friends don't like the food there :D

I like to use Honey for marinades, but I've close to never used it in actual cooking. I wonder though, if it may work with rice. We have a dish with rice, cream and small citruses, I think that a similar dish could be created with Honey and Lemons. Gordon Ramsey is Scotish, so a Brit, but lives in the USA I think.

Her name Clodagh McKenna, and as Roger pointed out she is Irish. Even cooking Ireland's food like Irish Stew and Colcannon, she fucked up. The main problem with "TV Chefs" like them is that they take traditional recipes, and skip a lot of things for that "10 minutes" goal. Even worse, they also want to make those recipes "healthy" with very unnecessary ingredients, like that low sodium salt. Euughh. If you want to heal your soul, you may want to check out "An Italian who became a ramen chef in Japan to meet the woman he loves". It is a long video, but the foods along with the stories he and his wife tell are fascinating.

I'm a white American, but grew up and still live in an area with a large Vietnamese population. I've had Pho many times, and it is like eating pure delight... this, on the other hand... I turned down the volume on the video so my Vietnamese neighbors wouldn't hear her saying these ridiculous things.

See Peach? I told you it could be worse! Which would you rather have: British people disrespecting Asian cooking at THIS level, or an ENTIRE Uncle Roger video with nothing but sorry children jokes. At least the jokes are meant to bring joy! Lol

You can see the commentors picking at and pushing the food around like children tend to do. Usually it is a sign that they are not enjoying it or that the food taste like 💩

Amazingly bad. Big chunks of steak? Better description for this dish is steak with slimy noodle in dirty broth of unknown origin.
