Gary Anthony Williams (the voice of Uncle Ruckus) reveals why HBO Max canceled 'The Boondocks' reboot after a bunch of episodes were already made. #shorts #theboondocks #canceled
@@jellifish9389also Huey Freeman was also claimed to be a Leftist himself. I mean his affiliation was so known that in an episode a fictional version of the Republican Party tried to ruin a fictional version of Barack Obama's reputation as president by linking him with Huey because on the fictional-only social media page profile Fictional Obama has, has Huey Freeman on his friend list.
@@sethjohnson9372 The best episodes did have some well done political commentary and philosophy. But the newest braindead ones do not or do it in the least good way possible.
Thee stipulations I would require for a Reboot: 1. Aaron has full creative control over the series 2. John Witherspoon's son, JD, does the voice for Grandad since he can do a near perfect recreation of his voice. 3. All of the other original voice actors return as well
Problem is there’d likely be no Wunclers if they didn’t recast them, Ed Asner (Ed Wuncler) and Charlie Murphy (Ed III) are both dead. Even though they weren’t exactly “major” characters, they were the driving force between quite a few episodes.
@@Pantsinabucket True. I suppose we technically could do without them, or have the story explanation be both Ed and his gransdon went to prison for something and thus we don't see them out in the streets
“They canceled Boondocks but Velma gets season 2” As much as I want more Boondocks, this is a blessing in disguise. The Boondocks we got was visionary. Anything they’d try to make today would be watered down garbage. There’s no way HBO would let Aaron McGruder tell the story he wants to tell. That’s why it got scrapped.
You get it. Like do we REALLY want the same people who made the decision to greenlight Velma, let alone two seasons of that have ANY sort of creative control over the Boondocks. McGurder or bust.
Exactly. We all know the show couldn't air in this day and age without being an inauthentic hollow version of the real thing. It would offend way too many of the softies we have today. The script would never make it past the executive desk.
If you are saying this because of season 4, season 4 wasn't that bad. If your saying this because everyone is so sensitive all the sudden then yea I understand.
Bruh FR, they turned that shit into fucking garbage, damn near all the episodes was some corny ass parody. The only good episode was the chris brown one, and that was just a rehash of the usher one.
Yeah, I wish they could bring it back That’s my favorite show And probably the best show on adult swim. In my opinion I mean don’t get me wrong. I like Family Guy and American dad and some of the other shows but boondocks will always be my favorite.
We all know the show couldn't air in this day and age without being an inauthentic hollow version of the real thing. It would offend way too many of the softies we have today. The script would never make it past the executive desk. Maybe it's better this way
I think them stepping on JD Witherspoon's toes, messing him about VO work to replace his dad turned the public against the show creators/runners. Anticipation kind of died with that.
No no it didnt ur white stop tryna explain our show the reason why it hasnt been out yet is because they’re trying to figure out a way for someone to play JD without it being disrespectful i think they should cast his son he does a uncanny impression of him
@@eddiekynard7627you are free to think so. The original was good but to see it in a true anime style? I'd like to see that even if it's just a pilot/test episode
@@Endersgamejp it's not an anime tho. To put it such a cartoonish style will change the pacing of the show. It will be the same contrast as Teen Titans and Titans Go. That's what I'm afraid of.
@@Endersgamejp Def not a fan of the new artstyle, it removes it a little too much from the realness the original show had. Colorful art with detail doesn't make it anime style, it just means CalArts didn't rape it.
How they treated J.D. Witherspoon after the untimely passing of his father's death was underhanded and cruel; John Witherspoon was a icon of the culture and a persona. Just like how Illumination ruled out Charles Martinet for Chris Pratt, no one will take the production seriously if the star isn't present for their appropriate roles.
@@ZekeTheNerdVXnot a counterpoint but, to be clear, nobody is dissing Martinets VA chops, dude can play a serious role like Parthunaax. Absolutely based.
@@user-ld9tf4td8s Adjacent to cameo is a cameo; those are not large roles. Besides, it drives home my point more. Regardless of the money and traction, relinquishing veterans like Martinet from their major roles in favor of celebrities--let alone ones with no talent or any mature experience in voice acting--isn't wise. Now, the long-time voice actor of the Plumber mysteriously retires from his role after the film's release, *despite solemnly swearing he'd remain voicing all four plumbers (Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi) until he passed away.* Keeping things civil doesn't equate to repression of one's feelings--and there's much moral conflict against today's Celebrification in Hollywood anyway.
This is probably gonna sound real dumb but why don't they just release those episodes if they were already made? Like, if the project's already dead why not at least put out what they already did? Are they keeping it in case they can monetize it in the future or what??
@@manuelc3423they weren't finished. Only voice acting of 1 character was confirmed. They would still.need to do all the animation the music the edits the sound design
@@judethenekogamer3651 Those issues are inherent in capitalism. Capitalism is not just free markets, it's when the means of production are owned and controlled by private individuals who hire workers to produce goods and make money for the owners. Capitalism itself is 100% the problem.
Tbh i really hope the unused audio does surface someday so we could see what it would have been like. Tbh i think the death of John Witherspoon really ended up causing the show to be canned despite his son wanting to do the voice
Thank god they didnt actually make them these rosey cheeked weirdoes in the promo art. the hardness and realness the OG show had would've been pissed on by some chibi redesigns.
I think it's just one shot you're seeing. In context it may be a wide angled scene and it's just the perspective you're seeing it from. Theres still a lot of detail in that pic. Imo the original art style screams slowpaced drama/comedy while this to me says more fast paced action/comedy.
Now more than ever we need the Boondocks to come back. People are getting way too sensitive when it comes to the dumbest things like just simple jokes.
This is hands down one of the greatest cartoons ever, its in my top 3, prob #2. I still watch it all the time, and never gets old. Ed Wuncler III voiced by charlie murphy is hilarious 😅
Same I watch it a lot when it’s not on TV I go to RU-vid even my family knows I love the boondocks sometimes when I go to my dad’s, he don’t even ask he just puts it on and I’m like yes
Seems unlikely considering it's been almost 10 years since the last season, some actors have passed away and the current political climate is too toxic.
No, boondocks is such a revelant masterpiece similar to the Simpsons as is. Anything further would be a force, and it wouldn't be as good. Like the latest season of the Boondocks.
@Macheef Kaze Maybe if the season kept coming out without so much space in between, and they didn't get rid of Aaron NcGruder. Nothing will top boondocks season 1-3, the cast, and the writer as of now. We all saw how bad season 4 turned out, trying to imitate other shows and whatnot, zero creativity. It was highly unoriginal because there was no Aaron McGruder. Maybe it will live up to seasons 1-3, IF and only if Aaron came back and wrote the show.
Well, maybe not a reboot, but i would love to see a sequel series or future continuation of the series, Where we get to see what life would be like for Huey, Riley, Cindy, and Jazmine as adults in official canon.
1st off (R.i.p) Charlie Murphy🙏🏾John Witherspoon. love this show so much it was better then (American dad) (Family guy) (south Park) put together Regina King/Katt Williams/ Samuel Jackson/ Appreciate black Excellence help me open my 3rd 👁️ Thank you Aaron Mcgruder hopefully we get a reboot soon
Gary Anthony Williams is incredibly talented as well hes been in movies you might have seen n not even realized it (Flame from "Soul Plane" is Ruckus most ppl mind blown on that one)
Is what a shame. This is a great cartoon. My family and friends all watch this and we laugh and laugh. Thanks a hundred thousand times for all of the smiles
The show was too awakening and started gaining traction; that’s probably why they canned it. They want to keep us numb and desensitized; The Boondocks was a true work of art as it was perfectly balanced between entertainment and revealing the truths beyond the thinly veiled allure that the system we are in has set up for us to not know what’s really going on; all in a satirical and hilarious way Best show of my childhood
The final episode of the original series of The boondocks said a mouthful and spoke volumes and it also define exactly the background situation that was going on with Aaron and the exact at Warner Bros and the whole cartoon Network thing in adult swim you know the whole control.
I almost never watch TV but even I know that this show was something special to people. I'm sure they'll reboot it when nostalgia for it is strongest. Look at how they're currently rehashing everything. Give it time. Everything old is new again.
