Unclogging Bad Culvert Clogs

I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

I was delivering for Prime yesterday. Saw a drain grate clogged and blocked by palm tree limbs. Got out and cleared it. Watching the water recede out of the road felt good. Props to you my guy for inspiring me to give a helping had.

Your videos have taught me so much about managing the flow of water that my trail maintenance training just didn't delve deep enough in to. This weekend I found a campsite partially flooded by a spring up the hill where kids had shifted rocks around. Thanks to what your videos have taught me, I was able to quickly redirect the flow of water back where it was supposed to go, and had the site mostly drained in 15 minutes. So satisfying! Keep up the fantastic work.

Oh, I don't know-- the lake drain 2 outlet with a true siphon going is still pretty exciting. When it glugs and gurgles, I'm usually cheering for it to achieve a siphon. Seeing it with a siphon instead lets me cheer, "You did it! Yay!" Thanks for clearing that culvert in the sandy swale. The standing water looked gag-worthy in the beginning, and no pump truck operator should have to draw from a dry hydrant near such a mosquito pond.

Hey Post, I mentioned this previously once but in Townsend MA there is a very neglected culvert next to the Hannafords for the parking lot/road drainage. I am sure you’d have a blast unblocking it when it has a lot of rain water built up. If you are ever in that area def check it out.

I wish I could send you some photos and videos of the Culverts I clean out while at work. I noticed that there was a pool of water backing up where it appeared there should be a culvert. I started digging it out and had a hard time finding the entrance to the Culvert because there was so much debris and trees growing up in the Stream. After I removed a large white birch log I turned around and looked and there was the top of a tire sticking up out of the mud. Probably took me a solid 10 minutes to dig the tire out. The tire looks like it was in good shape and still had a lot of tread left on it so I don't know why somebody would have threw it in the ditch like that. Haha but like you always say it only takes 15 to 30 minutes to get a culvert operating properly. It is very sad what past Highway Department crews did because of their laziness.
