I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

I honestly can't believe people would criticise how long it takes you. You're doing this for free, no one else is rushing to do this work. The point is you always do a good job and you have the knowledge and experience to do it right whatever the circumstances. I think you're awesome. People shouldn't judge, we all have stuff going on.

Post10, I really never read other comments but when you mentioned that some people have been critical about how much time you spend cleaning/clearing an area it infuriated me. How dare anyone be critical of the hundreds honestly thousands of hours you've spent over the years helping the environment. I can't believe the audacity of some people. I would just start blocking them because their comments are cruel and not constructive. I can't image how miserable they must be with their own lives to type those comments. They wouldn't dare say it to someone's face, but with the anonymous aspect of social media/internet it seems to have emboldened them to spread their vile thoughts. I appreciate your hard work and I'm very sorry that you suffer from such a condition. I applaud you for not letting that condition dictate to you what you choose to do in your life. Thank you for your videos I hope it lights a fire under all of us to make a difference in our own communities. Be well and stay safe. 🌻😊

I've had heat stroke a few times, and the longterm results are similar to this. I don't sweat at all 99% of the time, no matter the temperature, until I start doing something physical. I'm good for a minute or so, then the sweat pours down and I get dizzy and things go gray. My body temperature is always a couple of degrees below normal, so I don't feel the cold the way some people seem to, and I can chop wood all day when there's snow on the ground. I pay someone else to mow my lawn, though. I'm wondering if postie's past activities might have resulted in something like that. The first time, I thought I had the flu.

Regarding your "heat allergy" you may want to look into a condition called Dermographic Urticaria. It is an auto immune allergic response of the skin that is exacerbated by physical touch/abrasion and heat. The name means skin-writing nettle rash. The hives litterally feels like being bitten by 10,00 mosquitoes or rolling naked in stinging nettles. The combination of wearing a coat and having the clothing rub while getting hot and sweaty would be two classic triggers. Suffered with this for years until I was diagnosed. You'll find it is worse when you are under stress as well. I find that fexofenadine antihistamines (Allegra, walfex, etc) works the best and it is non-drowsy. I can't take benadryl because it completely knocks me out and stay groggy for days. I've tried others like Zirtec and they aren't effective. Not a dr. but this isn't a real common condition so sometimes missed by a lot of docs.

@kirstenwiggins7752
@kirstenwiggins7752 2 года назад
Me and my daughters have the dermatagraphic urticaria and my youngest developed colonurgic urticaria for a while where if she got hot while swimming or in the bath she'd come out in big itchy hives which would go once she was dry. We always know if we are getting sick cause the skin writing gets really prominent a day or so before actual symptoms start. Antihistamines are a daily routine.
@saphirepatriot9052
@saphirepatriot9052 2 года назад
I am a physician assistant specialized in allergy and personally have experienced cold urticaria all my life. I have treated thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of patients will all forms of hives in my 24 year medical career. All of the forms of hives mentioned here are types of physical urticarias, in other words, they are hives triggered by various physical stimuli (not autoimmune). There are other cases of hives with no identifiable trigger but I am not discussing that here. Heat hives are known as cholinergic urticaria, friction hives are dermatographism. Other physical urticaria include cold urticaria, pressure urticaria, vibratory urticaria, solar urticaria and aquagenic urticaria though the latter is exceedingly rare! The foundation of treatment includes avoidance of triggers: keeping cool for heat hives, staying warm for cold urticaria, avoiding tight clothes and shoes and other pressure on skin for pressure urticaria, avoid rubbing the skin for dermatographism, protecting skin from the sun for solar urticaria, avoiding holding power tools for vibratory urticaria. If minimizing triggers is not sufficient to keep you comfortable, antihistamines are added to prevent the hives (don’t wait til the hives are already there). Different people respond to different antihistamines though Zyrtec or Xyzal tend to be a little better in general for itching and skin reactions than the other 24hr antihistamines but can be a little sedating for some. Avoid the continuous use of short acting, sedating antihistamines (Benadryl, Atarax, etc) in general due to side effects. Some people with hives need double, triple or even quadruple doses of the 24hr antihistamines but discuss with your physician first. There are other treatments if avoidance of triggers and high doses of antihistamines are not effective. A good allergist should be able to help you find a treatment to keep you comfortable. These conditions can wax and wane over weeks, months or years but there is no cure so it is all about managing it to keep you comfortable. I hope many of you find this helpful.

@@saphirepatriot9052 Thank you for the information. Sorry if I passed on bad information... I was sure I was told it was autoimmune. Anecdotally, I can say that a low carb diet has helped my symptoms to reduce. But, stress, mosquitoes, an errant whisker in the collar etc. will still set things off. Sometimes can get pretty miserable. Thanks again for stepping in with some facts and experience 👍

Oregon's bottle return bill was enacted in October of 1972. We were the first state in the nation to have a bottle return law. The bottle deposit was 5 cents per bottle or can for many years but raised to 10 cents in April of 2017. Water bottles were included in 2009. The bottle bill was revised in recent years to include many more "types" of containers such as juice bottles, energy drink cans, coffee and tea bottles, etc.The bottle return law does help to decrease the amount of roadside litter. I hope more states will adopt this law.

I have a friend that has a similar issue but the opposite. He can't handle the temperature change from hot to cold without breaking out in hives all over. I'm glad to hear that you've learned how to cope with it. So many people turn to prescription drugs rather than letting their body care for itself and they end up in a worse state than if they just learned to cope with the problem. Love your videos Post! Keep up the great work. 👍😊❣️

There's nothing wrong with using meds if you need them, but he's lucky enough to not need them. Better to be able to function with drugs (properly prescribed- not over OR under) than not be able to function out of stubborn pride

You don’t have to justify yourself for wanting to unclog the culvert under the abandoned road. You enjoy doing it and we enjoy watching it. 😁

I love these Kind of urban/abandoned culverts the best that you go to Post 10. I like seeing the woods taking over the infrastructure that was once used and in disrepair.

I have never really seen you get super exhausted. I have noticed some shortness of breath but most people would be breathing heavier. I have never heard of that before. Your a special person post10(very good thing)

omg I thought I was the only one with this temperature-induced rash thing, I have always thought it was because of the dry air during winter! nice to know there's another person like me :) Keep up the great work!

Our county used inmates to clean the roadways. They stopped that and said ~If we keep cleaning the roads up, people will just keep throwing stuff out because they know it will be cleaned~. As you might imagine, that's worked out real well for us.

I think ..... actually I know I spent more time watching your videos than spending time with my friends and family the past couple of years. And I'll be doing exactly the same this year. Quality work my friend. Love from Liverpool UK

I have cholinergenic urticaria, and that sounds what like you have!! It’s not a heat allergy, it’s a sweat allergy. Believe it or not, as long as you don’t have severe symptoms (like trouble breathing) one of the known treatment options is essentially exposure therapy. You do great work as always!

Hey, I went to high school in Holden, many, many years ago. I know, pretty meaningless bit of trivia, but it's neat seeing you working under a road I drive about once a week.

I think you do an amazing job mate. I feel for you with your heat allergy, I hate hot weather I get miserable and feel sick in the heat. I absolutely love the cold, its easier to warm up than it is to cool down depending how the weather is :) x

That was a fun video to watch. I admire you for cleaning up that junk you found. I agree, they should add a 10-25 cent deposit on bottles. As kids, we used to collect glass bottles for the refund money and bought candy with it. When my daughter was little, we used to collect aluminum cans and fed them into a recycle vending machine for the change that would kick out. LOL, you and I both yelled when the camera fell over!

This was mind boggling. The fact that people are sitting on their asses and complain on someone doing hard work. Keep it up Post10, at your own pace! Noone else are doing the amazing work you do. Big salute! 🫡

I empathise on the heat allergy, as I have the opposite (cold utricaria)! I couldn't deal with the cold temperatures you do, but the summer is lovely. Also, holding cold cans of soda makes my hands swell up/ get tichy, I can imagine you might have something similar with hot beverages. Keep up the awesome work!

I have the same thing! I have cold and pressure urticaria. I see him in cold weather wading in, and grabbing clogs out of, cold water and all I can think is I'd be one swollen mess haha.

I wonder if maybe I also have this condition. Your description fit me almost perfectly; prickly needles after a rapid temperature change, typically when working, though sometimes just from a change in the environment as well. Not common in the summer. Regardless, a nice approach to cleaning up the abandoned site. I for one don't mind you using the equipment on a job, but that's just me.
