Everyone this trash rack is not to prevent stuff from going through the Culvert but the end of the Culvert from getting clogged. The trash rack will slowly clog as the water gets deeper but then it's able to flow over the top as a spillway. This cuts down on the amount of Maintenance the Culvert will need. It's mostly to stop beavers from clogging it

Something aesthetic about your videos. It's a very weird but soul-satisfying pleasure seeing drains being unclogged, a subject of RU-vid binge-watching I never dreamed could or would ever happen. And yet, here I am. I've seen more of your videos this month than my beloved Beatles videos. And they put out a new CD. Very strange but gratifying.

Solution: Rebuild (or weld over existing) grate at a sloping angle, such that it can be "raked up" without having to climb in/on/around. This is how pumping stations orient their "trash grates" just upstream of their intake side. Of course, they have mechanized scaffolds that descend and pull up the debris, which may consist of everything from shopping carts to entire vehicles. 🙂

Trash racks like those are so satisfying to unclog, removing the plugs and creating the gaps for the water to shoot through. There’s a trash rack not too far from my house, on a small stream before it runs into small culverts under a housing estate. I’d walk past it to get to school as a kid, looking down at it when it was raining heavily, and seeing all the mulch, muck, leaves and miscellaneous debris damning the whole thing up, and thinking “Man how much I’d love to clear that out.” But I couldn’t, I only passed the place on the way to school, didn’t have the garments for the job, and it was rather inaccessible, in the bottom of a deep ditch behind a wall of stinging nettles. So watching your videos is like a dream fulfilled in that regard! 😂

Well, I just gotta say, that you've been clearing so many blocked drains and culverts in your home town, that it appears you have now got to travel quite a ways from home in order to find a blocked or clogged drain. Apparently your efforts have shamed your municipality into either correcting their drainage problems or at the very least they have initiated a more comprehensive maintenance program to deal with the issues. I also think you have made the public more aware of the issue as I now also see a lot more drain clearing videos from your disciples! all the debris you removed would make excellent fertilzer in a heugalculture garden, which means less harmful man made fertilizers. In Heugalculture, or mound based gardening debris is put in the bottom of the bed and the pants are put in on top. Makes it easier to give them nutrients and improves water retention and nutrient retention in the soil. and that debris might last for several growing seasons but it saves on fertilizer and mulch to a degree. I used it in my garden and got 3 pounds of sweet Thai Chili peppers every 6 weeks for 3 years. even during Winter.

And that is what should be happen the right people who are trained correctly will turn up to remove the debris from the catch area and put it in the undergrowth not down the drain/pipe its in front of trying to stop clogging up....

Of all the unblocking videos I've watched, for me this was the most gratifying. The water started running fast almost immediately and with the leaves on the surface of the water it was far more visible just how fast compared to other videos. I would imagine that this is one of your favorite kinds of culverts because the blockages are more accessible and the logs tend to be smaller/lighter. Anyway, good job and great video!

Love the way he says "we did a good job here today". I'm sitting at home watching it in comfort so I don't really feel as though I have been part of the team!!! There is no "we" involved in this, it is all you!

Every since I found these videos, I find myself checking the drains, in passing, around my neighborhood. There is one that was clogged the other day when it rained, and I am sorely tempted to go out there next time and clear it lol!

Wish more places used this Trash Rack design seems to really hold up well and easy to unclog. Also prevents idiots with excavators from doing any damage to the pipe its self.

How’s the lake drain doing? Have you been back recently? I love your “abandoned” videos but I must say the unclogging ones are my favourites ❤️

It has to be destroyed after record breaking rain. Hope it calmed down enough now that he can do a walkthrough before winter.

I'm gonna say, a max of 5 cameras, two of those with time lapse to see the progress of the water going down on one and up on the other.. 🤣🤣 And we can't forget the videographer pov.. Lol..
