As someone who stayed and still runs business in Botswana, I love the diamond culture in Botswana. Through Debswana I also managed to attend to Stanford Seed Program back in 2018 which was such an eye opener. Kudos to the people contributing to keep the diamond industry in Botswana sane and blood free. This is what keeps Botswana as such a peaceful country. It's purely amazing. Keep it up! 💯💯💯

I have always wondered why the big RU-vidrs seem to skip over Botswana when it seems to be the most stable African country with good governance, good HDI, good GDP per capita, etc. I look forward to learning more about this country, especially as a Sierra Leonean, as we have diamonds as well but were not able to leverage it in the same way as Botswana to develop our country for numerous reasons(our diamonds were easy to find and retrieve so it was a mad rush, Liberian civil war which effected us, corruption, etc)

Tayo Aina - Good job and thank you for visiting Botswana. The hope is that the rest of Sub Saharan Africa realize they can live in harmony with their mineral wealth and allow those minerals to help their economies. Yes it took Botswana a long time to do this and that, but that also serves as education for the rest of Africa. Yes the man running this factory is of Indian origin, again another lesson, probably the person who saw the skill in him is of Indian origin too. It’s there it happens.

@Jerry, the ground beneath our feet is blessed not by us we didn't put them there, the creator did. We contributed nothing. We are Africans I agree but not powerful, we are hapless and weak. Had we been powerful, nobody would have carted off our people into slavery and moreover nobody would have colonised us. We are not powerful. The abject poverty and total dependency on others that you see in Africa today cements that weakness. Until we change our mentality, invest in ourselves, become a morally upright people, then we can start to become powerful.

I love Botswana but they REALLLLLLLY need to diversify their country's income away from diamonds and wildlife. There's so much potential but no one wants to do anything. Stop chargig people at the airport for gifts for family they haven't seen in many years and for the clothes in their luggage just for a small bit of change that will do nothing for the economy in Botswana and start becoming a global country before the diamonds run out and you haven't developed at all. I love Botswana but they have/had so much potential to be a huge globally attracted country but since finding diamonds up to present, not much has been done. Just look at Arabia, they are constantly diversifying away from oil and into other income streams but they're still known for oil regardless but they have shown what they use that oil money for. Also, it's pronounced Habrone, like when Spanish people pronounce G/J as H sound. Botswana, you are amazing, PLEASE diversify and shine✨🇧🇼💖

@@lucifer12354 what's the name of the RU-vid channel? Speaking of channels, how is it that I was a baby in 2001 when I visited and all the years I visited up to 2022, there's still only 1 TV station that REPEATS the same news over and over and over again for more that 2 weeks straight. And they use the b-roll footage even in news segments not just in breaks. Like there are photographers and graphic designers there and ready to capture and either sell or work their work for this channel and they're not making opportunities. Like come onnnn it's very very simple, give people a chance and pay them to make your 1 channel good. Why is there only 1 channel?!?! It's been over 20 years!!!

Nop it’s pronounced Gaborone with a G! It’s hard for many people to say the G so they usually settle for “Haborone”
