Honestly I've felt like Indiana Jones has been rough for about 15 years. It's very painful and gives headaches. I would say every rollercoaster on the resort apart from crush's coaster needs a full retrack. Crush's coaster needs a second track, to double the capacity. They should have never built that ride in a Disney resort due to the poor capacity.
@themainstreetnews
@themainstreetnews Месяц назад
The problem with all the retracks needed is the time they take. The makeover would take from a year to a couple of years, and that’s just too much capacity lost… totally agree with Crush’s, the coaster needs more capacity and if it were built in the US, it would have a second track by now…
@chrispybee

I’d say the Avengers (Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster) was the worst ride last year when we visited. Excited to see the change but myself, daughter and son all got off feeling very sore around the shoulders and knees. Poor Hyperspace Mountain is looking very sad, especially the effects.

@@themainstreetnewsIn "Disney time" a year or two is likely. It's a real Disney problem, though. The Efteling demolished and rebuilt Python in three months! That ride doesn't have theming, but still.
@EspenSGX

@@chrispybeeI really don't get why Disney didn't buy the new Vekoma trains they also bought for Space Mountain for Flight Force. The current train is just uncomfortable.
@themainstreetnews
@themainstreetnews Месяц назад
Most definitely. However, these rides are also much harder to retrack than others like Python or Nemesis due to one being on an Island and twisting and turning inside caverns, the other inside a huge dome filled with theming elements and the other going around and into a temple (even if Indy is the easiest of them all)…
@EspenSGX
@EspenSGX Месяц назад
Not building new rides at a steady pace over the years is biting Disneyland Paris in the butt with a vengeance. Studios is a walled maze currently and the Disneyland Park is a museum at this point. Space Mountain being the last new, additional ride built in 30 years next year is mind boggling. Capacity has become a huge problem. Something like Web Slingers or Dumbo should be rides you have only wait 15 minutes for at most. Instead those rides get insane wait times, doubling, tripling or more. The only way out is Disney building multiple rides at the same time, so that they can open a new one every one or two years. That or something like Tokyo's Fantasy Springs. That third gate might actually help with these problems. Especially as it would be build on the other side of the hotels, effectively splitting the guests over the resort.

Ratatouille opened in 2014, considerably less than 30 years ago, and was pioneering, well received that it found its way into WDW. Yes DLP has many many faults, but to say its newest ride is 30 years old is just wrong.
@EspenSGX
@EspenSGX Месяц назад
@@MAdams853 I was talking about Disneyland Park, not the resort as a whole. There is not a single other theme park at this level in the industry that has pulled three decades without building a whole new additional attraction. Not to mention that the ticket price has gone up and up for the park. Normally that goes with building additional rides, but not at DLP. And it doesn't matter if Studios gets new rides. A park needs to stand on its own.
@EspenSGX
@EspenSGX Месяц назад
@@jackdr20roblox29 If we wait on that we'll be old and gray. Disney needs to have construction of new rides going in both parks. Not one at a time. Money shouldn't be an issue, as Disney's financial reports have DLP as it's most profitable overseas park (excluding OLC's Tokyo Disney Resort, of course). The slacking off for decades needs to be remedied with a boost initiative.
@stuartholland3392
@stuartholland3392 Месяц назад
Definitely. A new ride every couple of years shouldn't be beyond a company as big as Disney. It doesn't have to be Millennium Falcon/Galaxy's Edge or Tron either. There seems to be room behind Big Thunder Mountain for a Jungle Cruise ride, there is space beyond the railroad for something like a Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway or a Splash Mountain (I find it crazy that DLP doesn't have a log flume ride then they are almost always popular in European Theme Parks!) Add one of these every couple of years and go ahead with the expansion of the second gate (and replicate the Cars ride from California Adventure where the old Tram ride use to be!), fix the food (including more vegetarian options - they only seem to do salad or veggie burgers) and you'll see people returning a few years after their last visit, maybe with kids a bit older who can enjoy the thrill rides etc.

@EspenSGX
@EspenSGX Месяц назад
I've been to Disneyland Paris for three days twice in the last five years. I had a good time, but I'm done with it. There is no reason for me to return. Why? I want rides. DLP doesn't have any new ones, and there are too many that I don't find worthy of the ticket price. Especially as I can ride something like RC Racer or the teacups at other parks with cheaper entry, lower wait times, similar quality or better theming and closer to home (I'm talking about the Efteling). I can wait for Universal to open in England, to kick Disney's butt. Apparently they don't feel it from the other competitors in Europe, so bring it on!

Like the excellent documentary by Defunctland showed, scrapping it all and just have a level playing field for all guests by having them stand in line, is the best option for guests. But there are some people who pay for it, so Disney gets money out of it, so they'll keep it around.
@Robbedem
@Robbedem Месяц назад
@@EspenSGX Exactly. So many rides requiring an extra person to accomodate the premier acces passes. That's at least 20 people a day. And with European wages, that's at least 4000€ extra cost per day for the park for labour alone. But they wouldn't do it if it wasn't making money... I went to Disney for two days yesterday. I went there as a child and took my girlfriend there for the magical experience. There were two major downsides for me. First was the food quality and variety and also the enormous amount of guests which makes it almost impossible to move freely through the park. I last visited the park 5 years ago and I thought it was already in decline. the fences were already there then, but that has not diminished. The big problem is that there are too few attractions with a good capacity. Just like in Tokyo and America, new attractions must be continuously built to improve capacity. Only when the Studios Park is ready with at least one E-ticket attraction besides Frozen I will consider going to Disneyland again, for now far too expensive for what is offered.

This video is spot on. In my opinion, the overall main problem that the Paris parks suffer from is *under-investment* 💸 DLP is the ONLY Disney park where park attendance has continually fallen since 2009. It's also the only park which hasn't received a new ride since 2006. Coincidence?🤔
@Brandis13
@Brandis13 12 дней назад
Indy was rough pretty much from the beginning, I hurt my ears so many times on that ride :-) Those tracks should last a lot longer. I mean, Matterhorn Bobsleds were built over 60 years ago, was indeed the first tubular steel rollercoaster ever and as far as I know, never had a complete replacements of the tracks done. I think one of the main problems is that Euro Disney SCA, the original owner of the park only did the most needed repairs, if even that, for a long time until they become almost unfixable unless everything needs to be replaced eventually. Guess what's more expensive in the long run? The Mark Twain is a prime example for this. Disneyland in Anaheim used to have the same problem during the Paul Pressler era, but they turned around now. In my opinion, the same is true for Disneyland Paris, right after when it was bought by TWDC, they started to do lots of much needed renovations and today the park looks much better than it has in a long time. I believe, there is still lots of work to be done, but hopefully, they will get around to fix the rollercoasters soon as well.

It seems from watching visitor videos that everywhere in the DLRP has construction walls around many of the attractions making the whole park appear as a building site. I estimated that one-third of the rides are closed for refurbishment , the Village is undergoing a major upgrade but not for the better it seems, Avengers campus seems to have taken away the thrill of the old Action Motors, Armageddon (not the best ride but...), Rendezvous des Stars ( a good buffet restaurants at good prices) with the Pym eatery with overpriced themed food. Seeing cast members dressed up as Avengers appear at random times does not excite. No parade in the soon-to-be-renamed Studio Park and many others makes me wonder why anybody would pay the over-inflated prices for two-thirds of the Parks experience. The entrance to the new "Studios" is going to take over a year to complete and from what I have heard on the videos the ambience around the Park has been destroyed by hammering, lorries, cement mixers and the general noise of construction. I will not return to DLRP until Frozen Land is completed and opened (a potential saviour for an otherwise poor DLRP) and the refurbishments are completed.

Disneyland paris is the most attended park in europe and also a pretty expensive one. Therefore money shouldn't be an issue. The first problem is that the paris resort seems to have the lowest priority from all parks. China and japan seem to get all the best new stuff, then the american parks are next and the last and least comes paris. What makes this situation more brisant is that Disney is in financial trouble. Well the box office return has dried up and Disney+ is also not a moneymaker. Therefore the parks carry the company. For paris I think the situation will get worse before getting better. Either we get a new ceo that has a soft spot for french culture or something bad has to happen to DLP.

Indeed, the Parks division has been carrying TWDC for the past couple of years, but with “revenge tourism” drying up, Disney needs to make the current guests feel like they need to return. If Universal GB or any other possible Universal project happens, it would certainly bring with it some kind of change to Disney, because frankly, the current competition isn’t in their level, not when it comes to quality but rather revenue or popularity

Glad I watched this after coming back from DLP! All the rides were open for us, staff were really nice, no major issues apart from queues later in the day. However, I do agree that the Indiana Jones ride is really rough! It's like Nemesis at Alton Towers (UK) but way more rickety. I'm glad they're maintained a lot but some are evidently looking at being replaced soon. The queues for kiddy rides are scandalous. You can't expect a 5 year old to wait 45 minutes for a 2 minute Dumbo flight! They need more kids rides, duplicate them if need be all over the park. We had the magic hour pass and stayed in the Marvel hotel - check in was like organised chaos though. (Staff were great but it's a crazy system) Don't even get me started on the app... did they even consult a UX specialist?? We were there for just over 2 days. Up at 6:15am every day, used the magic hour heavily, ate earlier than most to avoid more queues and crowds, loved the buffets. Used the plastic pass over the app. Take a phone battery charger with you as well. You will burn through your phone battery like crazy! This was our first visit and we pretty much covered every ride and attraction we wanted to do. There were also a lot of boards up with new things being built so they're evidently trying to build a lot more stuff. Would we go back..? Probably not but we did have a great time. Kids loved it.

Two things bother me about DLP compared to the other Disney parks. Firstly, cost. It's just too bloody expensive for the amount of time your their, and if you can afford it, it's much better to spend the extra £££ and go WDW (although, again, that's stupidly expensive aswell) And secondly, the standard and variety of merchandise is, in my view, disgusting. Walk through World of Disney at Disney Springs, and then do the same in Disney Village, and you'll see what I mean. It could be so much more with just a few tweaks. Think it would also benefit from a third gate at some point, although that won't happen anytime soon

Nice video! The comments about the welding repairs to tracks seem to verge on fear mongering. I agree, they are noticeable and chip away at the fantastic theming, but I don’t think that makes them unsafe. Of course, I’m no expert, but I think you should add a caveat in future videos when commenting on safety as that’s an important topic for some. For example, how frequently do other theme parks replace tracks? Does Disneyland have any protocol they follow at other parks? That sort of information helps frame whether or not the tracks are Disneyland Paris are in bad shape, or if the signs of repair are just normal. Anyway, just a nit!
@themainstreetnews
@themainstreetnews Месяц назад
The repairs are more than safe, if there’s a theme park that takes their safety precautions seriously is Disney. What it means is that the ride is at the end of its life, these cannot continue for many more years. Retracks are not uncommon, Space Mountain and Big Thunder in California have been retracked in the past, for example
@kenville1429

It doesn't mean it is unsafe. It just shows that maintenance is becomming a major issue for park management. As these rides age things wear out and more and more things wear out and need replacement or repair. Which is very expensive and also causes a lot of downtime. And this will only get worse over time. Costing more and more money and time to keep these rides operating safely. Multiply that over multiple rides and maintenance costs and downtimes spiral out of control really quickly. They can keep these rides operating safely for another 20 years if they want to. But at a certain point it just isn't worth it anymore and replacing it becomes cheaper over the long run.

I agree with everything you said. The parks are overcrowded, nothing is working well, looks worn down and the magic is slipping away. We went on a family holiday last month and I thought it was mostly very poor. So sad it has been allowed to get like this.

I agree with everything you said there is also one thing that I'm not a fan of and it's the fact that they changed some of the ride spiels so that they alternate between english and french on each sentence. I get that there are a lot of tourists and it's such a little thing but it still breaks the immersion so much to me... The worst examples being the phantom manor stretch room and the tower of terror boiler room imo

I was there last week and BTM was down multiple times, people had to get evacuated. The biggest problem in DLP though is the people, they just don't understand customer service. Also, while I love the park, I don't love they are trying to make it fit into the one size fits all Disney parks mall. I think Bob Iger has a big role in this and forgets Europe is very different form the states.

I agree with everything in this video. I go to Disneyland Paris a few times the last years and the rides are mostly old and boring. I basically skip them all nothing worth queuing for. I personally don’t care for animatronics like piartes or the whole Toy Story land is incredibly basic and appeals to kids with no thrill rides at all. Or the rides have just had a slap of paint and called something new and that’s incredibly boring as well. It feels like Disneyland Paris doesn’t matter at all they stuff the crowds in and want us to pay top dollar for the worst experiences. One of the last times I went the fountain outside it’s a small world had the biggest crack and leak in it. It was so unlike disney to let something so broken be on show like that.

I will disagree with one part of this for sure....Your complaint about having to re-enter card information each time you place an order through the DLP app for food. This is a safety feature, in a park that is well known for having issues with pickpockets, I am glad that they wouldn't have the ability to lift my phone and then go on a food spending spree in every restaurant at the drop of a button like it seems you can do with the Disney World one. Is it annoying....yes. But its much much safer.

Yep, I agree. Eisner's legacy was a mixed bag, but I think a huge reason he built DLP there was Hubris. He wanted to a monument to his legacy, so he built the most beautiful park in a romantic location like France, that has a real history with the Disney name. On paper it sounds nice, but everything from the country's cultural resistance to America, to the massive power of labor unions hold and the difficult of doing business there, made it a terrible location. The Netherlands would've been the best place in terms of culture and accessibility. And in terms of weather, Spain and Portugal would've been best. With Southern Germany being a great compromise between these two extremes. France, though, was a mind boggling decision that can only be explained by head-in-the-clouds idealism.

Disney is a corporation and as long as enough people go there every day, no big changes will happen because they would invest too much money. You attract visitors through new attractions and not through an improved ride experience of the old attractions, in the end the money always wins
@themainstreetnews
@themainstreetnews Месяц назад
There are a few examples that would say otherwise, Flight Force is a 20+ year old ride that received new theming and a land around it. It was then showcased as a brand new ride. Improvements to rides have always been a thing in the parks too with the new effects on Big Thunder Mountain or the addition of Jack Sparrow to Pirates, plus, what I mention in the video isn't improving the rides but refurbishing them since their days are literally counted... Of course, Disney is a corporation, but they need their rides operating either way

I have to say i disagree with most of these. No one expectes Disney to be cheap price wise, on ticket or food. The rides are as rough/smooth as most at any other large parks - Alton have just retracked Nemesis so it can easily be done in large parks to much fan fare. Premierr Access is the worst - free hotel fast passes were amazing and actually did shorten the queue. The seasons being mostly the same just tweaked is exactly why we keep going back for Xmas, we love it and want more of what we loved not something hugely different that we have no connection too.
@themainstreetnews
@themainstreetnews Месяц назад
That’s fine! However, with the food prices going up, quality should too, this isn’t the case. A retrack to BTM or Space Mountain is very different than one to Nemesis, we’re talking about an island on the middle of a lake, filled with twists and turns inside caverns and a huge dome that would need to be opened, it’s much harder to retrack these. Premier Access affects the queues much less than what Fastpass did, today, a queue of more than an hour on Big Thunder is rare, when it used to reach more than that several times a year. I love the seasons, but these should offer much more than what they currently do, less and less decorations and offerings make them worse each year… hopefully I cleared some things!
@seaofseeof
@seaofseeof Месяц назад
It's not a question of absolute price, but relative price. Disney have made it clear that going forward, they're targetting explicitly wealthier customers who are visiting for the first time. As a consequence, they're reducing the perks for annual pass holders. And offering these perks up as a premium add-on. Meanwhile, everything is getting more expensive while the service and quality is dropping. If they want to adjust their pricing model, fine, they should go ahead. There are some benefits to a higher price, as this could somewhat reduce crowds and in turn improve the park experience. I'm more than willing to pay a premium, but only if that premium comes with an improved customer experience. This is not the case. Prices are going up while the quality and service are getting worse, and themed elements are slowly being removed.

I have to disagree with you. Tokyo Disney has the same exact ride as "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril" except theirs is called "Raging Spirits" and it's also a very smooth ride that is well maintained while Paris' version is rough, painful and is in disrepair and is deteriorating.
