I love Dr. Abramson's videos so much! One of my best friends lives in Iroquois Falls, so I was over the moon when I learned that Dr. Abramson grew up there!!! To my knowledge the current Jewish population there is zero, but Synagogue Street does still exist! Since the paper mill closed though, my friend and her husband have had to take work in Timmins, about 40 min away. I'd love to see a series on Jewish life in Canada from him one day, maybe even a collab with Yidlife Crisis to cover Montréal. 😍😍

Thank you for pointing out that history is taught shockingly badly in school. I only began to enjoy and be interested in history many many decades after leaving school. First I had to unlearn that it was just an agglomeration of dates I had to learn by rote to pass tests. Thank you sincerely - YOU Dr Abramson are the epitome of an excellent history teacher

I really enjoyed this episode. Rav Avigdor Miller also wrote a book about why the Holocaust came. A Divine Madness. Which speaks about Lithuania before the war and what caused it.

The greatest problem in losing the 80% of American Jewry (who have no connection, no synagogue affiliation, no Jewish background, etc.) is in my impression that the "Orthodox" community is too busy protecting itself, to do outreach.....yes there are exceptions like Chabad outreach, but they are an exception...it is most unfortunate.

@Dr. Abramson about Uriel da Costa: Uriel also questioned the Rabbis Authority and the תורה של בל פה. Probably was this the reason he got in cherem .

ROMANS 2:28-29 28For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

His synopsis on Uriel da Costa here is unlike the full lecture he gave on him previously. His previous descriptions depict many of the religions that left Judiasm wanting only to hold on to what was written and dismissing the Rabbi's which if he would have actually wanted to learn and thinking would have made him realize it's illogical argument. And in this interview he sounds like a man that just lacked knowledge and wasn't given the time and access to learn. I find it disingenuous. But overall his lectures are greatly appreciated and provide what to ponder and research further.
