It's an assumption. Presidents are chosen by both policies and their capability to enact those policies. Once you agree with the policies mostly you then have to decide if the person should be your representative to enact them, and that's determined by their ability to speak convincingly among other things.

I had jury duty in the summer of '19. I really wanted out of it when I got there, but as I listened to the others around me, I suddenly felt my civic duty to get on the jury. The jury pool was filled with people who had no business on a jury. Half of us that got picked were pretty level headed. The other half descended swiftly in quality. I was really, really shocked. I kept flashing on the play/movie 12 Angry Men. There were people on my jury that had no idea that a criminal verdict had to be unanimous (in our state, anyway), no idea what "reasonable doubt" was, kept interjecting weird personal statements about the kinds of people they knew who were like the defendant or a witness or a lawyer, or even declaring they know what is IN THE HEAD of the judge or a lawyer or the defendant...or even in the heads of those in the gallery. I've come to realize many people have never made a big, consequential decision in their entire lives, and when faced with one ("guilty" or "not guilty"), they go a little insane.

But, democrats have strong ideals that align with the good aspects I wish to see happen. But Biden isn't giving that full potential. Honestly, I don't know at this point who to vote for. If I can get full confirmation on the republican side and find out if I, as a trans person, am going to be safe with Trump as president again and that I can keep my basic rights as a civilian then I might go Trump. The average voter is politically illiterate, and the vast majority of time simply votes for "their side" regardless their actual political positions. You also have TONS of single issue voters. Then you have to consider the current state of division in America, where you have A LOT of people on each side believing they're simply voting against what they perceive as an existential threat to the country. That's my opinion at least.

@omotayosatuyi252 I wouldn't say that's a fault. Humans are emotional creatures. The idea of democracy is that each person is equal, and each person's opinion, belief is valuable. But the reality is the politician class recognizes that manipulation emotion is the key to winning elections. So you really end up with a permanent ruling class not different from royal families and elites of the past. You are trying to single out Trump, but all who want to win have to know how to appeal to and manipulate emotion. Everybody does it, and the ones who are not good at it lose, like Hillary. So, amidst all of this, how do you take emotion out of the voting process? You vote for the strength and wealth of the middle class. Whoever is good for the middle class, you vote that person. And here I am talking about tangible things, not emotion. I have a dentist friend who obviously would do well financially no matter who is president. But Trump caused him emotional distress, so he voted Biden. But if he were to evaluate who'd be better for the middle class at large, not him (since he's not middle class), he should have voted Trump and should be voting Trump in November.
