The DIYS are back! haha, super fun project. Let me know if theres anything you need a DIY video on or if you have something weird you'd like to see me make. Possibly DIY dip bars or weight vest in the future? 🤷‍♂

@@John.McIntyre Are you thinking of doing some videos on handstand and how you train your handstands? I would appreciate such a video, at least!

An upgraded version of this with fully adjustable weights would be next level! Not too much more work and in theory exponentially more useful because of the ability for tiny incremental tracking and progression the general pro of standard wieghtlifting and con of calisthenics as well as negative of using banded assistance just not as accurate as it could be. I made the initial version of this working on a one-arm chinup, searched more and found this now need to upgrade or see you try, I haven't seen something DIY of this out there. Ok my initial setup was pullup bar, single attached very close to bar, then just one rope to my rock climbing harness and other end of the pully a carabiner I snap to a set of normal weights by a simple rope loop and knot through them. This is pretty solid for pullups but the only issue is weights getting in the way. Many ways to do the next step but inspired by this what I may do next is take a setup like yours- disconnect rings from the pulleys( they will just be attached normally and separately. Then instead of two ropes and pulleys from your harness down to physical wieghts you'd just need to add 2 more pulleys, each a few feet outside of the first 2. (imagine a pull up bar and below the pulleys in the shape of two ^ ^ 's , you in the center and weights flanked outside and bar horizontal above the ^ l ^Then boom the best and unlimited range progression of any move! ie you can progress on the iron cross and planche starting well above half your bodyweight and just continue down to zero lbs. What do you think!

I forgot a cool feature I came up with thats very useful is to forget about most of the hassle of measuring the correct rope distance to assist as well as attaching them I simply attached another rope to pullup bar and clipped in the weights to a carabiner and the same roughly halfway height I need then to pull them. afterward I can get all harnessed up and clip in in my assisting pulley rope with a carabiner to the same carabiner holding weights floating. Then disconnect your assistance rope and boom for all set solo

Very cool apparatus and video. I've made my own SKY Dream Ma chime for about $200. I did much research and concluded that it's worth the extra money to buy heavy duty pulleys, carabiners, and rope that will support 500 + lb. Although doing minor motions and strength moves don't generate much stress on the DIY system, if you lose your balance and fall through, significantly more forces are placed on the system, so a heavier duty apparatus is protective. Good luck.

1 string goes through 2 pulleys. The pulleys have to be fixed to a certain point on the pull up bar so they don't slide together. Hope this helps!

I have a harness already but it doesn't have the metal side pieces... Suggestions for how to connect the rings to the harness?
@John.McIntyre
@John.McIntyre 2 года назад
I would try using a small length of Paracord and loupe it around each side. Similar to how I showed you can use the Paracord to attach the pulleys to the bar

Do you have a link for the harness?
@chrisekstrom907
@chrisekstrom907 2 года назад
This may be the missing link for all the 'wannabes', like me, that are too proud to use a lower progression but too weak to admit we need to; plus, the pulley system, alone would be great for face pulls and, I hear, we all need to be doing those.

@@John.McIntyre Do think it's possible to use pulleys with a nordic curl? Perhaps a strap (or that harness) wrapped around the chest connected to the back with a counter weight through pulley?
@Noiconnotag
@Noiconnotag Год назад
Paracord is too elastic and honestly I would not trust it, there are too many fake paracords on the market. What you really want to use is 8-10mm static climbing rope, and climbing pulleys.
