I am literally going to go through your entire channel with pen and paper to take notes. I have no clue what to do. My oily face did fine up until my 35th birthday. My face changed overnight. 😅
Girrrllll dont tell me that! I will be 35 omg i cant believe just a few years ago we were in school!!!! Listening to CDs and now we are into skin care!!!! Take vitamins! Good skin care regimen and ya know.... no smoking n o no drinking
I'm 38 and I never noticed any fine lines/ wrinkles until right after 35. My skin and hair is also much more dry. I wake up almost every morning with white, dry, crusty, cracky skin in my face, especially all around my mouth area(not my lips), regardless of what I put on my skin before bed. I hate the dryness!
My 42-year old skin has improved so much in the past 3 years because of her. Start with her oldest youtube videos, they are proper skin classes 😉 People think I'm 10 years younger 😎😎😎
Putting retinol on top of vaseline will not let it get into the skin. Vaseline acts as a barrier. Just a waste. Thinnest to thickest. Retinol, night cream, then Vaseline.
Because it can be really irritating. Layering it with the vaseline makes it less harsh and decreases the likelihood of irritation or flaking. It will still get absorbed but more slowly
Only if ur prone and do it wrong. For me, i started in high school cuz vaseline is cheap and have been using it ever since. At 28 im still using it. Ever had milia. Occasionally i use it all over my face like twice a month. Daily on my lips. It works perfectly. Now im putting it before my retinol like she is instead of at the end.
@@elin_ for me, the vaseline gave me milia. Had like 4 or 5 under each eye. Popped them with a tweezer (dont do this please). The castor oil and frankincense didn't give me milia. Have been using it for months now
@@ivvie1452some people say to put the Vaseline first and face creams after and don't ppl say to put face creams first, Vaseline after, then retinol last. How do we know which is right?! Lol❤
If you have a mild retinol or retinal eye cream it should be fine to apply on the brow bone below the brows. Not too far down though since the product will migrate a bit.. I'd you apply too far down it will get into your eyes and make them dry.
Retinoids are just that strong on the eye area. Especially if you're not used to it. I tried with a gentle retinaldehyde and still got eczema so I'm definitely going to try this method when my skin recovers
I don't think it will work. Vaseline is a really good skin protectant. I would rather use a weak retinol and slowly ease in and see how my skin reacts and adjust accordingly. I am now able to tolerate tretinoin around the eye area.but that is me.
Need a more mild Retinoid? Theres one with .1% Retinol and Bakuchiol from Some By Mi- Retinol Bakuchiol. They also have a more mild eye cream version! Beauty of Josean also has an eye cream containing Retinal and Ginseng, and this one has a lovely built-in applicator! ☺️ I hope this helps someone! Happy skincare! ✨️🥰
Don't give up on retinol under the eyes at first they will look a little crinkly and dry (try every other day at first) but after a couple of weeks this resolves and you start to see beautiful results ♥️
Thanks, I was having the issues you describe at the beginning and now I put the tiniest bit with a lot of moisturizer. Will mix it up with your suggestion too!
Thank you SO much for this! I started using .05 tretinoin on me eyes and by the 4th day it seemed like I would have to consider an eye lift quite frankly. I couldn’t believe how crepey and dry my skin became. I started using a VERY high fatty acid oil I brought back from the Amazon and it’s been working to correct the dryness like nothing else. Grateful to have stumbled across your comment, gives me reassurance to just keep doing what I’m doing. ❤
@@user-lh6vr6vs4h If if is so irritating, she should use a lower strength or switch to retinol. Use a barrier means that it's not being absorbed into the skin. It's a waste of money.
I always wonder - why choose this serum when it contains alcohol really highly in the list over the Ordinary retinol? Overall why do you recommend loreal when they always have alcholol which is drying high in the list?
I always wonder - why people buy this over the Ordinary 's retinol? Also loreal contains alcohol as a second ingredients which is very drying..why is this serum your choice?
I can't remember if you said in a previous video, why (anatomically) are lower eyelids okay with retinol but not upper? Thanks always for educating us (your nerds ❤)
Because it is petroleum and shouldn't be on your skin. I would never listen to this woman about this. PETROLEUM is what runs gas engines, not on my skin.
Try looking into milia. Some people get that under the eyes under certain conditions. There's a lot of factors that come into play with the causes of milia and don't just do research about it on the popular Google sites since those can be misleading
@@ZakManga I'm familiar, had one milia, which I went to a medspa to fix. There's no white center after vaseline it's just slightly inflamed rash looking. Goes away in less than three days of discontinuing vaseline. Vaseline is not formulated for under eye. The skin is more sensitive and thinner. I do use it to block chemical exfoliants from going where I don't want, as chapstick and in my nose during the winter though to prevent cracking from the dryness. Vaseline as an eye cream is generally bad advice. RU-vid "Drs" need to stop "helping" people with this wisdom. When I want to "slug" I use cocokinds ceramide recovery balm and it does not do anything negative to my face including under-eye. I have combination acne prone skin and a lot of her advice would make my acne worse. I've gone to derm, estheticians, general doctors, and diy'd and in my many decades of acne the practitioner to help me the most was of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She forebade me from exfoliating and had me do a simple wash and moisturizer routine. Now that my acne and bowel movements are under control she's allowed me one discolouration serum to my routine. And I'm not to change the routine until all pigment is gone. Then we'll address texture.
@@alysafleisher no it’s not. Petrolatum ( a petroleum byproduct, as in Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly) ≠ Petroleum. There’s also the fact that scientific research indicates that petroleum jelly is one of the safest, most effective and affordable ingredient in skincare, bc it has a low potential to be irritating. Ofc it’s not suitable for everyone, as most things aren’t, but spreading misinformation ab it isn’t very productive.
Does anyone know if she has recommendations for darkkk undereye circles!? Ya girl neeeeeeeeeds something 😅😭 The purple/blue undereye is not looking cute and it's just been getting worse with age.
What about eye serums with retinol like Beauty of Josen eye cream, isn't that safe for eyelids? I have seen several others vloggsrs apply it on eyelids. Hmm
If you don’t experience inflammation, redness, bumps etc, means your skin handles it perfectly and you don’t need a buffer. Everyone’s skin is so different. If it works without irritation, keep it up
@@siren4410came here to say that :) I alternate A313 and retinol. My skin loves the A313 without buffer. My skin heals so much faster in case of inflammation. Also I sometimes mix my retinol and A313.
I’ve been using the La Roche-Posay redermic R eye cream and the Beauty of Joseon eye cream with retinal around my eyes regularly (alternating). I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin around my eyes. I put both on my eyelids, too. I’ve not had a problem. Should I stop putting it on my eyelids even though I haven’t had a problem? Will the retinol and retinal cause damage?
Eye lids are very thin and the vitamin A gets absorbed into the skin. It’s a very astute question to wonder if it can and does get absorbed by the eyes and if that can cause issues. I would love for this to be addressed.
I’ve used Vaseline under my eyes before. It helps but for me, not all that much. Remember everyone’s skins is different so what works for someone else might not work for you. Don’t get discouraged just keep trying to find the right product for yourself.
Yeah actually as someone who’s eyelids hates them (I get a swollen eye a lot ..contact wearing? Allergies? CNS I dunno 😂) I kinda wonder what to do to protect what we got there. I know if you put retinol on the eyelids isss no beuno
I have this problem, red, swollen, irritated upper eyelids, I use Avene AD balm or LaRoche Posay B5 balm or Aveeno restorative cream, any formula that recovers skin barrier will do
Hello dr, I did this with tretinoin and the next day I got crazy allergy it was hurting and itching so I stopped tretinoin around eyes. I’d have to try with retinol :) thanks 🙏
And if you’re having issues like that, use an occlusive ointment or moisturizer BEFORE putting on your tret, then put the tret on, then put another layer of thick moisturizer on. This will usually help mitigate any problems like that.. unless you’re truly “allergic”, then I wouldn’t even mess with retinol either until you consult with a dermatologist and figure out what you *can* use around your eyes.
Please, what can I do about my crepey neck? It’s worst under my chin. I’m 40 and my face is natural and pretty wrinkle-free but my neck looks much older.
I'm a bit confuzzled. So if you're applying this 'after' your night time routine. Does that mean you've already applied tretinoin to your face (forehead etc) and then just using the L'Oréal retinol under your eyes?
Hi. She said the Vaseline was used as a "buffer" before the Loreal retinol was applied underneath her eyes. So the Vaseline was used before the retinol. I didn't see where she also used tretinoin.
@@EmorettaRobinson Thank you for your reply. Shereen said in this video she applied the Vaseline + retinol combination after her night time routine. From watching most of her RU-vid videos she often (not all the time) uses a tretinoin prescription in her night time routine. That's why I'm wondering in this video did she skip using the tretinoin and apply the L'Oréal retinol instead. The short style videos are very handy but sometimes things can be lost in translation in them so just wondering 🤓🤓
Yeah me over here like 😬 I used the verses retinol eye balm - kind of a natural buffer - and I put on my lids! How am I supposed to build collagen and get tight eye lids if I can use the holy grail on my eye lids?
I mean. The video is for people with sensitive skin. So she’s not showing her tret use etc so it makes sense she wouldn’t put it on her eye lids as again this is aimed at people with sensitive skin and eyelids are super delicate.
Retinol can cause eye irritation and damage the meibomian glands causing dry eye disease. If you put retinol on your lids it increases the chance it can get into your eyes especially if you move in your sleep.
Shouldn't we wash our hands after using a retinol product?? What if you rub your eyes, will the product that is applied under the eye or the fingers enter the eye??
Use it less times per week And moisturize more. Or stop use and let your skin heal then start it again less frequently The wrinkles it caused on me still haven’t gone away after a week so I’m stopping
Hi doc from Philippines here ever since my problem is my darkening under eyes. And its weird is very obvious whenever i got to sleep too long maybe 8hrs. Less sleep not much visible but my under eyes become so deep 😢. Thank you in advance, looking forward with your response ❤
shouldn't the retinol go under the Vaseline? cuz the Vaseline locks everything in but locks everything out as well so the retinol is just sitting on top of the Vaseline until you wash it off
The fine lines under my eyes are annoying, but I worry that adding more moisture (I have oily/combo skin) will only exacerbate what I can only describe as chicken skin. Yes, chicken skin. Throughout the "valleys" under my eyes are clusters of little bumps that I can only imagine arose bc those glands are clogged. Unless I'm way off base. Have you ever seen such a thing before? Any advice?
@@AlitaMee I keep wondering if my stuff is not strong enough. I use trentinon in get form, prior to watching these videos. I use it with vitamin c, even my top eyelids and my skin has not been irritated or flaky. Am I doing something wrong? And is the skin irritation the only reason pple don’t use on top lid?
@@PA-qn9jl I would not experiment with tret on upper eye lid or anywhere near eyes because if irritation occurs for me as skin of color I am looking at huge discoloration
