Under pressure and gassy, that is your engine without the proper crankcase ventilation. Do you the correct PCV valve or do you even have one? The PCV valve helps regulate crankcase pressure and also recirculated blow by so it doesn't get back in your engine oil. Blow by going back into your engine can cause sludge and an acidic situation that can breakdown your oil. Also, if you don't regulate the crankcase pressure properly, you can actually get oil leaks. Stock PCV valves work fine on stock engines, but on modified engines, especially ones with a radical camshaft, the stock PCV valve doesn't work properly. So how do you solve that? Simple, get a dual flow tunable PCV valve from M/E Wagner. They have a quality American made product that is tunable to your engines vacuum and will relieve the pressure and properly exit those gases and blow by! In this video I go through the steps needed for my application. For more information and technical data, please follow the link below.

I have had best results using 3/8" power steering return hose as opposed to neoprene fuel line. Better resistance to oil, and more rigid to reduce chance of collapse. Great vid, Jeff!

That is a nice part. How do you know when you have it set right?

There are different methods in the instructions. The other methods not applicable to my setup are tuned off a vacuum gauge

Simple, use a digital manometer $35, to measure low levels of vacuum and pressure in the crankcase. I attach a vacuum line somewhere onto the crankcase or valve cover, even the dipstick tube. Makes sure you have a fresh air source on the crankcase. Run the tube inside to the driver, and connect the manometer. Warm up the engine, shut it down, zeroize the meter and restart the engine. You want to adjust the valve so you see around .1-.2 inHg. Drive it under varying conditions, ideally you want to see the crankcase in vacuum most of the time. It helps remove moisture, fuel, oil vapor and blowby gases, and improves piston ring sealing. Your crankcase breather you want as least restrictive as possible to allow for better ventilation. On other vehicle we're the breather is connected to the air plenum, after the air filter, and before the throttle plate, the fresh air circuit will reverse flow and ventilate the crankcase at high load, high rpm speeds. Similar to an exhaust scavenging system. Adjust the idle circuit to get the best ventilation across the board.
